Excellent video. Instructions were very clear (still a hard pattern to learn!). I braided, unbraided and re-braided the same bracelet multiple times to "get it right" and it looks great. This one's a keeper. Thank you for putting it out there.
Really nice! I love this knot. I saved the video for reference. I think I'm going to run the tails (working ends) all the way back up the weave for added length.
I managed it. The thing that helped me remeber what stage i was at and what the next stage was, was by saying to myself left down, right up. So if my strands were coming away from the last knot in a slightly upward direction i would to come up through the middle with the right strand to begin the next know. If my strands were coming away in a slight downward i would start with left down through the middle. Left down right up. It worked for me
What an excellent tutorial, yes it is 6 years old - I am a bit slow. I liked what he said 'I don't know the name of the knots - I just know how to tie them really well'. That's all that matters right? This bracelet is really good for several reasons including having a D shackle to use, and having a lot more paracord to use if you need it! Cheers.
This is what I needed. Thank you. Of course it will take me days to make one but I’m giving it a shot. I’m actually wanting to make a strap for a hiking stick I made. It’ll be interesting how I handle the ends. Especially since the stick isn’t here.
Hey great video! I love this bracelet, it's a lot easier to work out with two colors! Here's a tip. At the start both ends were fed down through the shackle opsite from the hitch end. This created the left side to cross over itself. If the left side is feed up then the loop does not twist. 👍
LOL I love your comments during the video :) And thank you for the good explanation. FYI, sometimes it gets difficult to differentiate which side is up (left or right) since the cord is all black. A multi-coloured rope would make it easier to recognize that (for us, at least).
Thanks for taking the time. I have been doing cobra pattern bracelets and lanyards for years and I have been looking for a new style that is quick to use. This is just what the MD ordered. I was afraid I was going to have to just make a wonky chain sinnet. Where do you get the shackles with the round knob ends? I've been getting the boat style shackles at the local hardware store. I like the round shape, but if I am going to make a true quick deploy bracelet, (and I am) it would be nice to have a easy to remove shackle. If you are going through a lot of lighters I would recommend investing in a zippo lighter and a can of fluid. It will cost a lot less in the long run and it is always nice to have good tools. Another way to save money use a tea light candles. I'm always singing paracord, using heat shrink tubing and fray checking nylon tubing and webbing. The name of that first knot you did on the shackle is called a Larks Head. It's a lot easier to tie if you just loop it around the shackle rather than pulling the ends all the way through. Cheers!
I just got done making this by following you're instructions and damn this was hard... got it done but I still don't know how I did it lol! great video!
Great video especially the jig and those needles. I made the jig , bought the needles and got a bracelet minus the skull dongles on the first try, Thank you for posting this video. May I suggest in your future videos you use cord that is white against a dark background this contrast will make it eaiser to see .You could slip a white poster board inder your jig and use the same black rope. I'm not complaining your video worked fine for me.I even made suspenders for my tool belt using your string to inches ratio. Thanks again.
Thank you I’m glad it’s helped you! Supplies are pretty easy to find if you google paracord, I think I use to frequent a place called planet paracord, or paracord planet. For buckles and closures it was much more searching both local and online, that was always part of the fun! Sometimes I’d go straight to the manufacturer.
One step ahead ;) Not exactly an instructional, but I break down how it’s made, super simple and easy! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5HY1ryUY_r0.html
Had a lot of fun making a couple of these knots, I think you a great teacher too. While I was looking at some of the knots I remembered years ago , I think I was in 8th grade, a kid came in with a knot made with all leather. Don’t remember what it was called but it had several individual strands (with knots at the end) coming from the (handle) 8 or more is what I remember. Now the handle itself was square. Perhaps it was a cat of nine tails? I am wondering if your familiar with this, and if so, perhaps making a video of it. Thank you much,,
Thank you very much, very cool to hear that! Hmm try googling "crown sinnet" did it look like that? Not quite as you described, but it's the only square shaped knot I can think of off the top of my head.
Watching thru the video and I'm like "this guy sounds like he's from here(hawaii)" so I looked at your picture and was surprise to find that u are lol.
Would You be able to make me a few of the blaze You made with the same links? I went to website but will not load. Kinda bummed me out because the attention to detail You put in is top notch. Thank You Very Much for the Video.
Really useful tutorial and going to start making own paracord accessories - really like the shackles & skulls combos- cool. Have u got this type knot with two colours to see how it turns out? Is it case of melting cords of 2 colours together and then following this tutorial?
I have been looking for a survival paracord bracelet like this for my daughter and my brother who both like to go coaching and have had a need for cord or rope several times. Only good prior planning saved them. How much better would it have been for them to have a bracelet like this and not worry about forgetting needed supplies? Plus it looks cool! Thanks for the video! I'm going to make them each a bracelet. Thanks again...
Thank you for a very nice tuorial. I made one I became pleased with tight away! But I used a different shackle, so mine doesn't unravel quickly like yours :)
Yes!!! Thank You! I've been looking for a style for my own bracelet. Made one for my hubby but couldn't settle on a design. This is it! Quick question tho, would it not be easier to thread the skulls on before you threaded it round the back? or are the skulls too small for the needle?
Excellent Tutorial! However, there is one point I missed - how do you get the length of the paracord relative to the wrist size? (approx 1ft for each inch wrist size?)
Hello, thank you for your comment and question! In this example I used about 15ft. Some people have come up with equations for this, but I typically guesstimate for a few reasons. One, some cords are different from others, and need a little more or less. Also, I usually like plenty to work with toward the end, so I over compensate.
Hi....Great video....gave me an idea about how mix a functional bracelet with an decorative one(skulls)....by the way...would you suggest me a channel in order to learn how weave skulls models?---..thanks in advance..Fernando from Colombia
Excellent work but 2-3 different colors would help a LOT for instructional videos. The different colors allow you to see what's happening with each knot.
Shouldn't a bracelet be sized based on most usable extended length? For instance, a Ridgeland for a tarp shelter with enough slack to the a trucker's hitch.
What size D shackle is that?? I cant seem to find one small enough local to me so I'll have to order them online. Going to make one of these for my step dad and fill it with all kinds of goodies for him when hes camping!!
The weave itself is fairly easy once you get the hang of it. What's giving me SO MUCH TROUBLE, and why I've re started it probably 5 times now, is that I lose track of which side to start on after each "course".
I work better when I have a pattern it was a little hard to follow yours would you mind just telling you what the pattern is ...like over under through...Keep re-watching it over and over I made a band but it would just be so much easier if I had the pattern
This is the bracelet you can actually weave in or insert a plastic tube in and fill with things like matches, bread ties and toothpicks and it still looks fabulously accessory acceptable! Pick the right colors and materials and you can make some actual dinner wear. Lol
because you can use cord to tie cut wrist to stop bleeding, make bow fire drill, make rock sling for riots, make broken arm sling. tarp shelter etc..😁i got one with torch, compass and fire steel for 2 quid off ebay but making em is more satisfying..This style is purely to have cord, fast when u need it not sitting untieing a fashion one
it's called a survival bracelet b/c the dudes that wear it "every day carry" nail clippers to constantly ruin their shoelaces so they can whip out their bracelets, quick-deploy them, and re-lace their boots in front of awed damsels impressed with their ability to improvise, adapt and overcome....lol... it's because you can wear or carry like 14-30 feet worth of paracord in a relatively small amount of space when it's neatly tied up, and these guys think that the first thing you need when the shit hits the fan is to tie some shit together.... this stuff is not good for tourniquets as the pressure required from a tourniquet in such a thin line would cause more trauma than it would help a bleeding situation. Most bracelets don't even have enough paracord to be useful for anything..... it's more of a fashion thing, "survivalist" nerds like to wear them b/c they can look pretty neat...
It's a very god tutorial and nice design, but I hope you notice your background is black and your paracord is black. It would make it easier for your viewers if your background is white or something lighter color, so that it would make it easier for us to see it. Don't you think so? Thank you for sharing your video. :)
+Michael Matos no chance if you keep it on your wrist.. since the loop needs to go through the whole bracelet for that to happen.. and that's impossible if you have the bracelet on..
