How to Make the Ultimate DIY Vinegar Weed Killer!
Hey there, fellow weed destroyers! 🌿 Ready to banish those pesky weeds for good without using harsh chemicals? Today, I've got the ultimate DIY weed killer recipe that's not only super cheap but also way more effective than Roundup! Let's dive in!
This 3 ingredient weed killer recipe works extremely well and it's quick and easy to make. The 3 ingredients are vinegar, salt, and soap. Each ingredient has a purpose in the recipe, so checkout the full video to see what each ingredient does and why it works. You may have to spray this a little more frequently than your traditional chemical weed killers, but it'll still work amazingly well!
The Magic Ingredients:
1 Gallon of Regular Vinegar: This powerhouse ingredient dries out weeds, killing them from the root up. (Approx. $3.00-$4.00)
1 Cup of Regular Salt: Salt dehydrates the plants, making it impossible for them to survive. (Approx. $0.50)
2 Tablespoons of Dish Soap: The dish soap helps the vinegar and salt stick to the weeds, ensuring maximum impact. (Approx. $0.10)
Total Cost: Around $3.60-$4.60 per gallon! 💰 (depending on the pricing of your vinegar locally)
Recipe:
Pour 1 gallon of regular vinegar into a pump sprayer.
Add 1 cup of regular salt. I've also heard that Epsom salt works, but I haven't tried that myself and salt is so cheap and it works so I honestly don't feel like trying the epsom salt lol
Mix in 2 tablespoons of dish soap.
Shake well to combine all the ingredients.
How to Use:
Spray the mixture directly onto the weeds, making sure to soak the leaves and stems.
For best results, apply on a sunny day so the vinegar and salt can work their magic.
Quick Tips:
Avoid spraying on windy days to prevent the solution from drifting onto your beloved plants.
Reapply after rain or watering to keep those weeds at bay.
Say goodbye to unwanted weeds and hello to a weed-free garden! 🌼 Don't forget to hit that like button if you found this helpful and subscribe for more awesome gardening hacks. Happy weeding! 🌱🚫

This solution is only temporary as the same weeds will eventually come back as it doesn’t kill the roots.
@setapartfarmandgardens
@setapartfarmandgardens 7 дней назад
@@Vic-pk6qn for the smaller weeds, one application works well for me. If the weeds are larger I’ve noticed i do need to spray another time if not even 3 times if they’re really large. That’s what has worked for me, but i know everyone is different

Just curious if you tried just vinegar, or just salt water etc
@setapartfarmandgardens
@setapartfarmandgardens Месяц назад
Great question! I have tried just vinegar and it didn't work, however if you buy 30% or 45% concentration vinegar it works great! The only con to that is that vinegar at that concentration is about $18-$25 per gallon so it's more costly. I was actually wondering if just water and soap and salt would work and no vinegar. That I haven't tried yet, but I'm curious. Thanks for asking!

What else can I use if I don’t have a pump sprayer

@setapartfarmandgardens 5 часов назад
@@isabelshelton1932 you can use a spray bottle. It’ll take a while but would work. You can find a pump sprayer for less than $10ish if you want to buy one at some point

Can you use within grassy areas?
@setapartfarmandgardens

If you plan on re-seeding and you’re just spot killing weeds in the grass, yes! If you’re planning on just killing the weeds in the grass and not the grass, then no. This will kill both the grass and the weeds

We have weeds in our beds. Can we spot spray near plants we want to keep alive? (If it’s nice and dry and sun is out?)
@setapartfarmandgardens

I spray right up to edge of my flower beds, and so far my flowers/plants haven't died or been bothered. Not sure if the buildup of salt with bother them over time, but so far so good. Hope that helps!

How bad is the vinegar smell? If at all and how long did it take the vinegar smell to go away? Thank you.
@setapartfarmandgardens
@setapartfarmandgardens Месяц назад
The vinegar smell isn't too bad. I'd say it probably lasts about 4-6 hours in my area. Not bad though. Honestly, the smell of the dawn is stronger which I'm actually not a fan of the smell of dawn. That lingers a little longer. But usually the next day it doesn't smell like anything

I've heard to do this without salt, do you think that would be okay to use carefully in the garden?
@setapartfarmandgardens
@setapartfarmandgardens 3 месяца назад
I’ll be using it in my garden. It’s mainly if you use a lot of it and it builds up the salt in the soil right next to your plantings. Like literally 2inches or so away from where your veggies are planted. But a few times I would think wouldnt hurt. Its mainly if you do it very often and theres a lot of salt buildup. Another option would be to use 30% concentration vinegar by itself. That usually works really well
@amck72
@amck72 День назад
If you are using the 30% vinegar container, you don`t need salt because that level of vinegar has a high level of acid that will burn the weeds down.
