BYD I'm glad you are showing an all natural weed killer because I have been using all natural methods for 14 yrs... My Weed Killer Tonic recipe is very simple 1tbsp of Vinegar 1tbsp of Baby Shampoo 1tbsp of Gin 1Qt of warm water added to any hose end sprayer this will cover 2500 sq ft... If your lawn is larger then double the measurements accordingly... I use all natural tonics for everything from bug and insect killer to all season green up and everything in between. Great channel King! BTW Epsom salt should only be used in ur fertilization program for the green up never put table salt on the lawn period!!!!!!
KNGHTRYDAFITNESS What do you use for bug killer in your garden, in the UK we get loads of greenfly, what would you suggest? Also how do you use Epsom salts in the garden ? And do you have any advice to get rid of brambles (blackberry bushes) as they grow wild and free here and have taken over the bottom of my garden over winter and in my greenhouse which I now cannot use because of it? Than you in advance
I pour white vinegar from the bottle and it kills the weeds within 24 hours never to return. I tried the mixture of salt, dish liquid and vinegar, didn't go down into the roots just the visible greenery. ...........🤔🤨
Kitchen vinegar is 5%really a weak vs 30 % from Lowes its the acidity that burns the plant , adding salt can destroy the dirt wear nothing will grow again
I bought the thirty percent acidity gallon of vinegar at Lowes. $18. Strong. I took it and sprayed half my backyard where it was infested with crabgrass. It killed everything grass and all. Don't need salt. I uploaded a short of what happened. I've used 3 gallons of it, sixty bucks around my house where I needed to kill everything. What a summer it's been.
I've had good success killing weeds with vinegar, and recently read that it's not likely to harm nearby plants. The same source suggested that adding salt could be harmful to other plants, but is good for areas where that's not likely
I'm gonna use 30% vinegar with dawn to kill all the vegetation in the area I want to cover with landscaping fabric. Then I'm gonna rake up the dead vegetation and mix rock salt into the dirt. I'm hoping 50lbs will be enough to cover the area. It's not all one length x width so I'm not super sure. But anyway, my yard is south facing and the sun cooks everything anyway. My plan is to saturate everything, let it die, rake it up, then mix rock salt into the dry dirt, lie down landscaping fabric, then put down up to 4in of river rock. What do you think?
I bought 30% vinegar online before I found it at Home Depot and Lowe’s. I used it straight in a big plastic pressure sprayer I had. minted taking it over my side yard along with weeds and dandelions. I was mainly trying to kill the dandelions so I focused on them. The dandelions left this world in 20 mins. on a 90° day! A day or two later I found 2/3 of the mint was dead too! For me, that was a bonus, but that tells me that you can’t use it close to something you want to keep because I think it must’ve spread through the ground because I didn’t spray the mint.
Dandelions are a great food source (if you don't use toxic lawn products) - One can cook the leaves like Spinach. When I was a child LONG ago our adult babysitter would give us .50 to pick them. - The indigenious people called these plants "little sister" (wild plants) - Pesticide companies (many RX created them) call them Weeds. Bayerxx Aspirin Bayerxx Pesticide. Many species go extinct due to their use on larger farms (Monarch Butterfly can ONLY feed off of one type of plant)
Seems to me the Romans salted the crop fields of conquered enemy's to prevent them from ever living there again. I wouldn't use salt in the garden but for driveways and rock gardens yes.
I will definitely have to try this on my driveway and patio. I'm in the UK and have been looking to find a way to clear my drive, I bought a burner but it didn't kill the roots, I've tried weedkiller from the garden centre and the weeds still came back within weeks so this has to be worth a try
Good my husband and I have worked on our lawn for almost 6 years. We have a yard full of natural Bermuda grass. But we are trying to get read of the crabgrass. What can we use other than MSMA THAT WANT HARM OUR GRASS PLEASE HELP JANET
I tried this recipe (5% vinegar) and was surprised at the poor results. It's now 48 hours later and most of the weeds are still green. Perhaps 20% were affected by the solution. I don't understand the positive reviews here. It was especially ineffective against weeds with narrow leaves but it really didn't work well against broadleaf weeds either.
I buy cheap Walmart apple cider vinegar and pour it on straight and stuff dies in 24 hours. No chemicals here and water softener salt works amazing too pour a bag on your property line and everything dies!!
Thanks BYD! Ive been struggling with POA and Image and some other products wasnt getting it done. Vinegar and the surfactant did the trick where visible results were seen in 24hrs. 💪🏿💪🏿
If this homemade solution is only going to kill the leaves of the weed (not the root), the weeds are going to grow back. So what's the point of wasting the time applying it? To completely eradicate the weed, you'll also have to kill or pull the weed entirely up from the root.
@BYDonBermudaGrassCentral Whether if the herbicide is organic or synthetic it shouldn't matter because, the results will be the same, and neither formula is going to harm the grass.
If you light spot spray each weed and no rain 🌧️ for a week you should be good. ( warning ⚠️, I used nothing but vinegar but applied to much, it did affect one of my hedges but it did come back, no salt 🧂)
I believe the purpose of the soap is to let the other active products make better contact with the weeds. You might have your process in reverse. Hoping you had good results!
Man....please BYD, I have some common Bermuda started taking over once I started doing my lawn some justice. Question is, how to kill some carpet grass some idiot planted on my turf ???? Keep on with those tips though appreciate it 🙏
I've used household vinegar before to kill the weeds growing in the cracks of my driveway. To no avail so I'm surprised that you had good results. A few days ago I bought 30% acidic vinegar strength mixed with 2 cups of epsom salt and 1/4 cup of dawn advantage. Literally 30 minutes later on a +90 degree day the weeds looked fried. I sprayed the Ivy lining my back fence and it looked like I gave it a headache. But I heard and also looked up 75% vinegar strength on Amazon and I'm trying that on the Ivy. I also sprayed my concoction on an area where black berries keep trying to establish themselves and although that took a few days I was surprised that all that was left was a graveyard. I've had great success with 30% strength but that household 5 to 6% never worked for me.
Hello BYD are soil test kits nessasry? Or can I get by how to fertilize my Bermuda by looking at the colors of the leaves of the lawn? And if soil self test kit is beneficial. What does a self soil kit needs to be a good one? Thank you sr. And love your channel thank you for your hard work with making these great videos.
Well, I made it as I was watching the video,,,, now we wait! Lol I just used a spray bottle to see if it works, if it does, I'll make a bigger batch for my pump sprayer.
Be Sure to rinse the pump sprayer and the tubing thoroughly with water after using vinegar. Vinegar will break down the rubber or whatever and if you let the thing sit for a couple of months and then go to use it, you'll find that your pump sprayer leaks.
What you see above ground (cap and stem) is only the "flower" part if the mushroom... They have a complete unground system connected to other systems, like most all the trees, delivering and exchanging vital nutrients, so WHY would you want to kill them? Just mow over the caps and stems, or step on them and squish 'em, pull them out.... You want to destroy EVERYTHING trying to kill a few mushrooms? How about you reading up on the GOOD things mushrooms are for, and what they do FOR the environment??
once everything die off when can I plant grass seeds like how long should I wait to plant. my fields are full of weeds and I would like to start a pasture
If you want to PLANT something, don't use a Plant KILLER!! Use Weed & Feed instead, then follow the directions... Or, buy your seeds and read the directions for fertilizers.
I have the perfect "something," it's called a "SHOVEL." Works great!! They get the roots and all!! I wasted a lot of money on different types of crabgrass killing stuff, but they always turned brown, then, next thing I knew, up popped more green crabgrass where the others "died!" I haven't had any problems since I discovered how great a "shovel" works." Just buy a bag of top soil to plug the hole, throw some Weed & Feed on and around it, and grass will fill in the bare spot, lickity-split!!
Hello & thanks for the info...do you or anyone know how long it might take before a flower area overrun with Bermuda and use this to eradicate it might be able to grow other plants again? Is it like a couple of rains? A season, or two? Or am I then researching for isotope half-life decay numbers and waiting 10,000 years?
It looks like you need to hire a someone who "knows how" to strip the grass and roots, down to the soil, and then, hire someone who knows what to plant, then, someone who knows how to care for said plants... GEE WHIZZZZ... I WONDER WHO YOU SHOULD HIRE?!?
@@noninoni9962 strip the grass and roots down TO the soil? That doesn't even make sense. The roots are IN the soil. Do you know what grass even is? Have you ever walked on it? Because that's now how it works, FYI. The question was simply about how long vinegar might affect something like Ph and prevent something else from growing...Doesn't really require hiring anyone. Not really nearly as complicated as it appears to be in your "mind".
This formula does work the one thing I did different is I really drenched the plant that I was trying to kill... I did not try it in my lawn the area was in the driveway where I wanted to kill stuff... I didn't really measure the salt I just poured in so it was probably stronger than recommended... 24hrs later good results
Great video. Thank you. I made it and it really works. I would like to get rid of all the grass in my boulevard which is not too big and it gets hammered by the sun - can’t seem to grow grass there. Is it ok to spray your solution on the entire area I want to get rid of? I am using a 10% vinegar and 2 Tbsp salt on my solution. In the middle of the boulevard, there is a tree. Will the solution possibly kill the tree if I am spraying only where the grass is? The root system of the tree is very invasive- it’s everywhere underneath the grass I want to get rid of. Thanks
GREAT VIDEO! Due to the pandemic, I’m spending more time in my yard now. I normally stick with the big box stores for quick fixes, but this seems like something to experiment with. I will definitely try this and post results. Praying for everyone’s health and safety! Remember Social Distancing!
How much salt do you add? I didn't see you describe the amount of salt that you should add in the video. Do you find that the salt clogs the sprayer? Thank you.
Hi BGC 😊🎉 I had a problem of crab grass growing on my concrete porch , and stairs, and driveways. using your recommended doses of Palmolive dish detergent, white vinegar, and salt; my problem of crabgrass has been resolved and eliminated in less than four days. I’m loving your gardening tips. Thank you for your channel outstanding.
I use white vinegar and it took me more than 24hour to kill some weeds around two trees in my yard! So I know that it take more than 24hours!And I also use some bleach and the vinegar and that all just the vinegar and bleach! Please next time you do a video please talk a little LOUD!
