Id would label that h7 as 4amp as draw is relative to voltage..ie at 12v your draw 4.5amps .if the vehicle was running at 14.7v you would only draw 3.7amps. Thanks though leon..tips n tricks are always welcome

I hear what you are saying mate but if I'm testing a a wire and I want to see if it can hold the current and testing it with the engine off if I'm also testing something else I normally buy Direction control it with the engine off that's why I marked it as I did especially when you are just testing to see if the wire can hold the current the wire is connected to nothing at either end just running a current through it

What's the cable called? The one you cut the end off of? I've been searching for it but can't seem to find one that has the input.

Leon, You can dismantle those bannana socket ends and re solder them onto longer wires. I use a back probe pin and small screwdriver and they come appart

When making these test lights I run a bead of glue from the glue gun down the sides of the cap I use 4 times this way it stops the caps rolling around.

I would like to make these for myself but I live in the united states and I am unfamiliar with the vehicle make and model from which the bulb sockets came...is there anyway you could tell me what year make and model vehicle the bulb sockets are from or provide me with a link to the sockets?
@bodgitandleggitgarage
@bodgitandleggitgarage 5 лет назад
Hi mate the model of the car is Vauxhall and is also referred to as Opel and the car name is Corsa the car year is 2002 I got these off a scrapped car I wouldn't have any links to these as I never brought them off the internet I've always gone to my local scrap yard I can see if I can find some on eBay but I'm not sure if they would ship to you and to be honest it would be very expensive to do that you would be easier finding a similar clip on a car in the states I'm sure they have them can still make these test leads this way it would be a lot cheaper for you

Hello sir ! I love your videos they are really helpful . Please clear my doubts. How long can a 2006 Corolla Automatic last . And what to check while buying over 200k Kilometres . Ontario , Canada. Should I buy it between 2k to 4k . My aim is to have a daily car for next 5 years or more , i expect to drive 12 thousand kilometres every year .
@bodgitandleggitgarage
@bodgitandleggitgarage 5 лет назад
Hi mate unfortunately it's impossible me to say as we don't have automatic cars over here but very few have only seen a couple in the last 5 years but it's like everything it all depends on how the car was looked after you could get a car with 50000 miles on and being no good just check for maintenance see how good the outside and the inside of the car is this will give you a good indication if the car is been looked after make sure you drive it a good test drive get everything up to working temperatures and see if you can hear any noises but also you need to make sure you start the car when it is cold so you can hear there's any noises from the gearbox or the engine

I bought some little buzzers to add to mine for the times I can't visually see it.
@bodgitandleggitgarage
@bodgitandleggitgarage 5 лет назад
Hi mate the only problem I can see with that is if you can hear the buzzer that's like an continuity test you cannot tell if the wire can take enough of the current it only takes one Strand to sound the buzzer where you really need to look at the bulb to see if it's bright so you know it's drawing the correct amount of current
@xbin87116
@xbin87116 5 лет назад
@@bodgitandleggitgarage good point.
@xbin87116
@xbin87116 5 лет назад
A horn on its own would probably work better for the audible and amp draw. I see some are 2amps on up.
@bodgitandleggitgarage
@bodgitandleggitgarage 5 лет назад
@@xbin87116 too loud too clunky and not a high enough amperage for most Motors that's why I have long leads on this don't really need anything else and you can also extend these leads if you need to so you should always be able to see the bulb

Would prefer one that shows if its a live or ground wire.
@bodgitandleggitgarage
@bodgitandleggitgarage 5 лет назад
Why it doesn't make sense you don't need to you can connect these bulbs to any side there's no such thing as a live or ground on these particular bulbs it's a test light to test a circuit this just shows you if the circuit can draw enough current to power whatever it's powering
@bodgitandleggitgarage
@bodgitandleggitgarage 5 лет назад
The ones you are on about I'm normally and LED one polarity tester but that will not tell you if your circuit is able to take the amperage completely different tester
@Daedalus_UK
@Daedalus_UK 5 лет назад
@@bodgitandleggitgarage I'm only starting out with this. I use a multi meter mostly for basic stuff. A good video idea for you would be a parasitic drain diagnostic. But I would prefer a test light that can be used to find breaks. As if something is not working. T into it and figure out if its the live or ground wire that can also be checked if the wrong pins have been put into a header, wrong way round etc.
@bodgitandleggitgarage
@bodgitandleggitgarage 5 лет назад
@@Daedalus_UK hi mate I've done a three-part video on parasitic drains you can find out broken wire with the ohms test quite easy
