Texturising scissors when done correctly looks amazing. My sister used to be a hairdresser and knew how to use those scissors. Not one other hairdresser has ever thinned my hair out. So i bought my own texturising scissors and 'finish' off my hair at home after a cut. The difference in how sleek my hair looks and feels is insane. To those commenting below who say never to use texturising scissors, actually you leave the top section and a tiny row of hair at the base of the neck to not have 'frizzies'. Also, I do it myself over two sittings - one on freshly washed and styled hair after getting it cut to remove excess weight and the second removal is merely to help define the 'cut'. This way you have less chance of removing too much.

People you dont want thick hair. the longer it gets the more headaches you get. You want to do a high ponytail? Yeah go ahead if you want a instant headache or a headache in a hour. Yes, im still growing out my hair. Yes, im going to have it thinned out lol No... its not gonna stop me from complaining 😂😂 the struggle is real lol

SAME HERE! I'm so jealous of people who can grow their hair long, all one length, and can cut some length off easily at home once a year to keep it fresh. 😭 My hair gets thick in the middle and I struggle to know how to go about thinning it myself without ruining my hair.

@@ayesha41._1 tell your dad that you want to thin out your hair to take weight off so you stop getting headaches. If he tell you no then tell him you thought he loves you and wouldn't want you to be in pain. Tell him your hair needs to be thin out. Ps. It's manipulation telling someone you thought they loved you and wouldn't want you to be in pain.

Fan bloody tastic!! I Have to go in and give myself a full haircut at some point today, my bangs are so goddamn heavy and I think I'm gonna go in with my thinning shears to see what that does. The rest of my hair is thinning out due to age 🙄 But these friggin bangs are The biggest PIA I have. Fantastic video Jake! As Usual 😉

Awesome & Concise! Love your teaching style. Great job sir. Would you consider becoming a traveling stylist?? You could get one of those comfort vans (I could even be your driver!!), and then you can come to Marietta, GA to cut my hair! ❤ 😂 well, a girl can dream of getting such a professional cut!

Oh my God! I would love for you to thin out my hair! No one knows how to use thinning sheers! They always tell me to leave it alone. My old stylist used this technique on my hair and it looked beautiful. She retired. :( I've been through a lot of stylist Since then and no one knows this technique. My hair looks like crap and I were it in a bun now because I can't style it due to the thickness and heaviness of my hair. If you can recommend a stylist in the NJ area please let me know. I'm desperate for a haircut.

Same. I don't think a lot of stylists really know how to use them properly. I can see that they're exactly what I need for my hair, but, I can't find anybody who knows what they're doing with them.
@stee8345
@stee8345 3 месяца назад
They weren't using them properly then or holding them correctly. Trust me they are a god send for ppl with thick hair like myself when used correctly. You shouldn't be able to see lines at all. They were also probably cutting too close to the neck.

How do stylists get jobs when they don't already know this stuff and when to apply it?? I've had so many mediocre haircuts by stylists who don't understand when thinning is needed and how to do it properly. Shouldn't they teach this stuff in beauty school!? If you give someone a bad haircut you're pretty much disfiguring them.
@jakethompsonhair
@jakethompsonhair 7 месяцев назад
Hey @ksmp, thats a loaded question w/a loaded answer. 1st off beauty school is only the beginning to their career, you don't learn everything especially advanced weight removal. So i would recommend finding a stylist that is all about advanced education or someone who has thick hair, they will at least understand your struggle to thick hair and ways to remove weight. And yes i agree there are a lot of mediocre stylist that do not understand weight removal.

I have too thick of hair but will look stringy when layered???
@jakethompsonhair
@jakethompsonhair 2 года назад
Hi Bolo for Jesus, I'd suggest taking out weight closer to the root of your scalp(not close to any part or hairline), avoid taking out weight towards the ends of your hair as that will make it look stringy. If you take out weight closer to your scalp you will maintain the structure of your cut towards the ends while lessing the overall weight of your hair.

My reason is I have thick hair at the middle back of my head where it honestly is hard to wash in the shower. So when I get it thinned I can wash it easier That is why I personally get it done. I have thick natural wavy hair, curly when it’s wet
