Thank you so much! I've been running around with "helmet head" for weeks now since I trimmed my own hair last month. I have the perfect ends now that have a slightly layered look without removing the length and a more wispy vibe going on versus the helmet head heavy ends. LOL. Really appreciate your video! Thanks again.

I've watched a few of your how to videos, and they're really great. You do a great job with clear explanations, and you don't ramble on saying the same thing over and over in the intro, which is quite refreshing lol. One suggestion/request though - could you include a before and after photo still at the end? For example, on the toning video and now this one about texturizing, I know it looks good/improved, but it's hard for me to gauge really the overall big difference. That's all. I'd love to see a side by side comparison! Thanks

My mother always cut my hair she is a hairdresser, I love her but she is not very sensitive with her clients rather quick. In my thirty’s I decided no more pain during haircutting and I cut it by myself, did some fails but I am very gentle on myself and it is fun. Last days I got thinning scissors and maybe they were so sharp that I cut out a quarter of my very thick hair. I am just used to have a thick blanket on my had and shoulders it feels now so light and manageable!

Do you recommend always thinning out dry hair and not wet?
@TheAngeSchofield

I like to thin hair when it’s dry because then I know how much hair I am removing. When hair is wet it’s harder to see how much bulk has been removed

I've had my hair completely ruined a couple of times with those shears. You can thin it with old-fashioned, sissored layers that is better on certain hair types. Us ladies with thick wavy or curly hair, it can totally ruin a pretty haircut. Glad some of you can handle it, but hairdressers need to know what kind of hair cannot tolerate that procedure.

What's the difference between layering and texturizing?
@TheAngeSchofield
@TheAngeSchofield 3 года назад
It can mean different things to different hair stylists but my personal opinion: texturizing is about softness and removing bulk within your layering or within the haircut. Layering is creating shorter uniform pieces within a haircut creating bulk if needed or removing bulk

@TheAngeSchofield
@TheAngeSchofield 3 года назад
Are you saying middle as in middle of your hair shaft? Not just the back of your hair? Unfortunately if you don’t have layers in your hair you shouldn’t thin your hair up further than 2 or 3 inches from the bottom or else you will have short pieces of hair throughout and that will stick up
@yesenialitardo668
@yesenialitardo668 3 года назад

So what do you do when you have that one client that is what I call a "compulsive texturizer?" Someone that keeps asking you to thin it, and thin it, and thin it, and thin it. And comes back every two weeks to have it done again.
@TheAngeSchofield
@TheAngeSchofield 11 месяцев назад
Those are hard. Over thinning is never a good thing… even for someone who has crazy thick hair. Sometimes they don’t realize if you do too much it can make their ends look too thin, then they can look frizzy. I normally suggest only thinning every other time so we don’t thin out too much and I remind them I can’t change how much hair they have growing out of their head and too much thinning will remove too much weight that may be needed to hold the shape of their haircut

Is this kind of like point cutting?
@TheAngeSchofield
@TheAngeSchofield 3 года назад
Yes and no.. similar because it creates texture and removes weight. Thinning shears have teeth on the so it removes a specific amount of hair vs point cutting you have more control over where you want to remove bulk because you are doing that with your scissors (deep point cutting, only point cutting the ends etc)

@93ritza
@93ritza 3 года назад
Is it best to do this on dry straight hair? I have very thick frizzy curly hair and am wondering if I can do this while my hair is in its natural state or should I straighten to make it easier?
@TheAngeSchofield
@TheAngeSchofield 3 года назад
How do you normally wear your hair? Do you only wear it in it’s natural state or do you do both? If you normally wear it straight then I would straighten it first then texturize it. If you do wear it both way honestly I would texturize it when it’s natural then when you decide to wear it straight I would double check and see if you have any thick looking sections and go back through to texture that. Hopefully that helps 😊

hi great video, my husband cut my hair into and angled bob and its pretty blunt, and my ends flip out wards any tips for me? The flipping drives me crazyyyyyy. is there anything cutting wise, along with styling them, that I could do??? Thank you!
@TheAngeSchofield
@TheAngeSchofield 4 года назад
Hayley Pasint when he was cutting your hair (especially in the back) were you looking down and making sure your chin was almost touching your chest? Sometimes if you are not looking down enough it will create longer hair towards the bottom or underneath at your nape and that can cause flipping. Also depending on where your hair is resting that can cause flipping. For example if it is resting on or a little past your shoulders the hair will flip due to your shoulders so it either needs to be shorter or longer and not rest right on your shoulders. To help with the blunt ends I did create a how to texture your ends video and that will help soften the blunt cut m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FZz2vTYdP10.html But be warned if it is resting at your shoulders this could cause more flipping with removing too much weight. I personally like curling my hair to avoid seeing the flip in my hair. But if you prefer straight hair I would just make sure you are using a vent brush or round brush to really redirect that hair to go under. I hope this helps
@HayleyMarie111

To me, by the end it still looks like your left side is much more light and wispy than your right. Is that because of the side part to the left? Can the right be texturized even more, or would that look bad? I ask because my hair is similar but more bulky and I'm not sure how far to go.
@TheAngeSchofield
@TheAngeSchofield 2 года назад
Yes that may be why... the side I part my hair to will create a thicker side. I could definitely texturize more on the thicker side if I wanted. It’s all personal preference and I do it by feel and looks. I know your hair will look great after

Will this impair my growth and will it grow back to its original thickness? If yes, how long do you think it will take? Thanks I’m just so mad 😡 I just had this done and I’m losing my mind. Never
@TheAngeSchofield
@TheAngeSchofield 3 года назад
It doesn’t impair growth... your hair will grow at the same rate and the thickness will come back. If your stylist did it to only the ends of your hair eventually I would let your hair grow some and then trim off the ends to remove of the thinning. But if the stylist did it all over throughout your hair it will take longer for it to grown back to original thickness. On average your hair grows about a 1/2 an inch a month

I have cut my hair 3 times with hair thinning scissors not realising they are these scissors I just wanted to ask when using hair thinning scissors on the ends of your but using them to chop inwards into the hair when you cut split ends off and make it choppy does that affect 1) the overall thickness of your hair 2)the split ends and how it grows 3)what are the best hair scissors to use when cutting your own hair so you do not further effect the thickness of your hair and to cut the split ends off safely and without taking to much of the length off?
@TheAngeSchofield
@TheAngeSchofield 4 года назад
When trimming your hair I would recommend using regular scissors first to make sure you have a nice clean blunt line first if you are worried about overall thickness. If you are just use thinning scissors your perimeter line will be more jagged and feathered on the bottom so it just depends on the look you are going for and what kind of texture your hair is. 2) as far as the split ends and how it grows...if you thin out too much on the bottom you will not have a solid line to trim just the split ends (the various lengths from the teeth in the scissors makes this more difficult) 3) so the best scissors to use if you are cutting your own hair and want to keep your hair longer I would use regular hair cutting scissors and not thinning scissors. Hopefully i was able to answer your question correcting and if you would like to know which scissors i recommend you can check out my how to trim your hair at home video and I link scissors to use there. m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-RnN36iK_sE8.html Let me know if you have anymore questions

The Hair Lounge By Angelina Schofield Thank you so much 😊 also do you think perhaps I could just use regular thin scissors too? , I was so anxious being totally new to cutting my hair , I only cut it 3 times with the wrong scissors 😬🤦‍♀️. So after hair thinning how long does it take to grow back to its original thickness? My hair is medium thickness so I was just anxious I buggered it right up 😬.
@TheAngeSchofield
@TheAngeSchofield 4 года назад
Use regular scissors to thin? A professional definitely could but I wouldn’t recommend someone to use scissors to thin if they haven’t been trained. After it has been thinned and you no longer want your ends to have the feathered look you need to just cut those ends off. Unfortunately it won’t just grow back to normal thickness unless you cut off your hair. So I would just let it grow out until you are comfortable with the length after removal.

Unfortunately you shouldn’t thin out the top of your head.... you should never thin out your hair close to your scalp or else you will have short little hairs that will poke out from the rest of your hair

It honestly doesn’t matter which way you holding the shears..... if you want to remove more bulk in the same section your are cutting you can flip the shears over and cut the same sections again to remove bulk facing a different direction

the more teeth a pair of thinning shears has, the less hair is removed. Thinning shears with fewer, wider spaced teeth remove more hair and chunkier pieces
