My suggestion would be, if you're going to upgrade, upgrade! Swap the small plug and run higher current or use and upgraded motor! I know this, that small plug would have to go!
Great video. I would love to see a video on upgrading the controller for other brands/motors. I have a 1000w rear hub bike and what I suspect is an underrated controller but there’s no information on the controller or motor and I’m unsure what to look for as far as a new controller/display.
Upgrade your motor plug to 40A, i.e.( I use Andersons), and then use a 52V battery and she will do much better. But your upgrade still seemed like it improved this bike. I live in the NW and it is very hilly, so I use 40A and 52V Pack with BBSHD re-programmed Limitless. All hills are melted away. You are helping the e-bike community with your efforts through these videos. I watch them and I have been riding e-bikes for more than ten years.
Hello, How has your RipCurrent S held up so far? Can you recommend JuiceBikes as a company? Do you think the RipCurrent S is a better value than the RadMini Bike from RadPower?
David Amuneke I am totally happy with the RCS! A friend and I bought 2 together last Black Friday and got an extra $100 off. We never put them together until Spring and one bike had issues with the fork which Juiced replaced very quickly although I have heard folks have had service problems with Juiced. Other than that, we did the research and the RCS has many components that really put it ahead of the RAD such as the air fork, hydraulic brakes, torque sensor and biggest of all to us was the huge range with the 19.2 Ah 52 V battery! If I had known about Bolton Bikes at the time I probably would have purchased from him. The RAD is the Chevrolet of e-bikes and I bet there will be tons of parts in the future to pick up if someone needs to keep their bike in service. I am currently adding a second 20 Ah battery for extra range on some long PA and NY rail trails when I retire.
I also have the RipCurrent S. I am going on my second year and I have totally abused this bike! I once let 2 teenage boys take it trail riding with one of them on the back rack. And hour later it came back muddy and going strong. I ride in the winter here. In northern Wisconsin and have a couple thousand miles on it. No one real problem. Broken thumb throttle broke kick stand and fenders. All are my bad but that said it is going strong 31 miles to work in Duluth then 31 home. I picked up an extra battery for the long rides instead of using my quick charger.
How about an upgrade kit for the Lectric XP, they claim its a downgraded 750-watt motor to a 500 watt. I would love to see more power output in the XP. It has a 18 amp controller and in the settings, it has a 60 volt battery listed but is only using a 48 volt battery.
@@Area13ebikes I found a controller for it but I don't know if it would work or not. It was suggested in one of the forums www.amazon.com/dp/B07RRWWJQQ/?coliid=I2XGBJWD4ANMKL&colid=1M8XIUS9V43FP&psc=1&ref_=lv_ov_lig_dp_it
I just recently bought a HyperScorpion, and I'm very interested in upgrading! I actually had an incident recently where a dog ran me off the road and I ended up breaking my arm. I feel like if I had an extra 5mph or more then I could've out ran the dog and the wreck wouldn't have happened. I will 100% be getting controller and motor (and maybe even battery) upgrades as soon as I'm able.
if you had one of these for a Juiced RipCurrent S, I would buy one today. I bought a Juiced over Bolton simply because I am 6'6" and you don't really have a XL frame that would fit me. What I really wanted was a Blackbird.
I have the Juiced Ripcurrent S. Looking forward to upgrading the controller/display soon! And would love to figure out if it’s possible to get 28mph on throttle only on this ripcurrent S so I can do some faster rides on my property.
I just ordered the scrambler with the larger battery option and their off-road module. I'm excited for it to arrive so I can use it to get to work instead of having to drive and pay for parking. The only upgrade I wish it had would be a rear basket option so I can have something to strap my half-gallon jug of water to, and some sort of GPS for theft recovery.
Yes, this is definitely something I want for my Juiced Scrambler! I tried to get on to your website to get it on pre-order but the link doesn't work at this point.
I want to see an upgrade kit for the Lectric XP. It's already affordble and if you could give it a better controller, battery and motor I would be all over it.
Bolton is good. I just installed a new Bolton controller in RadRunner1. The only trouble I had was cable management. Better torque and a real display, as the RR1 had just a few buttons and LEDs before.
I like your eagerness for tweaking! There's that inner voice in me brain that demands more power for my Bronco but my first major upgrade will be a second battery purchase, I need the increased range more than a the power boost at this point. Oh yeah, I need to save for replacement tires... I keep finding longer ways home from work!
An upgraded controller for the Super73 RX would be nice. I suspect that there's more that can be gotten out of the stock battery+motor combo, especially on the low end, where the RX feels pretty weak. It really picks up once you hit 20ish
My Ripcurrent is pretty darn fast as stock, but I would love even more pedal speed than you got in this video. I definitely want more thumb throttle speed, cause 20MPH tops is so anti-climactic after pedaling at 30mph.
Kyle, I’m about fed up with trying to upgrade the dog my RadWagon is! PPlease do something like this in a 24” range so that those of us that are in the 28” inseam range are a bit more comfortable. Rad kinda exaggerated to when their system told me that I’d be “comfortable on their RadWagon... From watching you in this Video it looks like it would be a very comfortable bike, specially with a Front suspension Fork. Thanks for all you do... John
Great video and very much opened my eyes to upgrading my ebike beyond cosmetic changes. I have a Super73 S2. What would you suggest with regards to performance upgrades? Also, are there any aftermarket throttles that work for the Super73 S2? I have an EU spec bike and they don't come with throttles. Thanks
Great video! I am looking forward to having this upgrade on my juice city scrambler with the privilege of obtaining max power without burning out the wire. What would be my next step? Thank you sir
I like where you are going with this! It would be great if you provided a controller upgrade for the Ariel Rider X-Class 48v! They come stock with a Lishui contoller - 28A max. PLEASE!
I am planning to buy the Rize Blade bike, which look quite the same as the Scrambler. Would I be able to upgrade it with a new controller ? I live in Canada , so only 500w allowed here....which is really stupid. Thank you for the amazing job you are doing !!!
I have the HyperScorpion, would love to upgrade what I can. It already gets to 30+ mph as it is so I'm not sure of it already has a larger controller than the scrambler or not. What about other batteries, Juiced wants $1200 for another 52V 19.2 battery pack. I only paid $1500 for the whole bike during a special of some sort. Got it right away so it wasn't pre-order, not sure. They do mess with list price vs discounted pricing often, but seems like now the HyperScorpion can be had for 2 - 2.5k. I had the speed hesitation issue at first but after adjusting the top speed to over what it can do at it's max, that issue went away completely. The front brakes squeak like crazy. p.s. I just moved to FL from CA, was very close to your shop and tried to buy a bike from you and of course, no availability. It was a full suspension mountain bike for about 4.5k.
1200$ for extra battery... That's sad. Bought my bike at1000$ , 120$ shipping fees. 1000w, 2 batteries 48V 22Ah... Those brands try hard to scare people not to buy Chinese products, unreliable etc, it's currently not worse. I have like for a year, with 4000km, I didn't get any problem yet. I really hate companies like super 73, making/using unique/uncommon pieces and have no stock if anything brakes
Improvement and interesting as to a more substantial with same gauge wire. Then amps could be increased. Keep the aftermarket items coming! I have your upgrade kit w/“real”750watt Bafang but won’t install till my Juiced Hyper Scorpion brushed aluminum arrives (early Sept). I will say though disappointed in my RadMini as to Rad Power Bikes claims. It is a reliable and sturdy bike and love to ride it. The stock electronics have never failed me. It always starts up, rain or shine it performs. When I install your upgrade kit w/electro bike world Bafang, will in my opinion be a dream bike!. The Hyper Scorpion has a place as I can’t bike path it, fold it or put it in my Benz SUV but...man extended rode rides with power should make up!! For a time got caught up in the negative reviews of the hyper bike. But my gut at core pulled me out of that. More reviews are out and so far good. Your expertise in analysis of these bikes, leading you to aftermarket solutions is appreciated- keep ‘em coming!
The display on my Ariel Rider Kepler could be much better if it includes an ability to program power % for each PAS level.. 9 levels or 5 . Also the voltage is not available. Anyway, I believe a new display and controller upgrade for the Kepler would be great. 33 amp controller could easily be upgraded to a 40 amp with the custom Bafang 063 1000 watt rear hub. I'm sure one of these controller and display upgrades would sell very well in the Kepler Groups once word got out.
Hi Kyle, Love your very useful videos! When you have time?? Please consider this controller/display upgrade for the new Rize Bikes “Liberty” 750Watt It already has awesome power to weight, but is there any such thing as too much torque?? BTW if I’m not leaning forward when I crack the throttle on this little beast, the front end gets “airborne” What a HOOT ! With an upgrade from you I’m sure to be spending a little more on rear tires.
Can you get me info for the scorpion upgrade please! I’ve already bought the off-road kit from the manufacturer but I’m hoping the one that you have is more powerful than that.
Is there a controller upgrade for the Juiced Cross Current X? I believe there may be a limitation on space in the frame but otherwise I believe it has the same electrical components as the Scrambler.
FIrst off love your videos have learned a lot but I know there is much more to learn. I ordered a Himiway Cruiser bike (before I started watching your videos) and am expecting to get it next week. Do you have any kits or upgrades that you would recommend for this model? I think that it is close to Radrover but not sure about cable compatibility. Thanks, and keep the videos coming 👍😁
Also, I have the second battery pack on the rack with a battery blender and I've been wanting to get a battery charge monitor but I'm not sure if it's for using it while it's charging or using it on the bike at all times? And whether or not I should get two to monitor each battery individually? Thank you for your help!
Hi love your reviews over here in England , there is one bike i would like to see you review and that is the Cyrusher xf 900, Hope you can make that happen
Love watching your videos. I have a Voltbike Yukon 750 Limited. I know through the owners Facebook site that most owners of the Yukon’s would love to be able to upgrade their controller for better performance. I see a lot or owners wanting more torque and speed. We are in Canada so they are set for Canadian laws for shipping. I am sure if you had an upgrade that you would sell quite a few of them. Thanks again for your informative videos.
Hello Kyle, I really hope you develop a better motor side cable lead. I would even test that already knowing the amount of skill involved with leads in the hub. I have a increased amp controller already. I'm on the cusp of just going from motor to controller now, no DIN. What are you torquing the hub screws to on these??? To anyone else, I'm not fielding any questions on my controller unless it's Kyle as 'you want his tested and safer solution'. My inquiry is about delivering the maximum amps safe into a Juiced City Scrambler BAF 750w MAG wheel hub. I am not developing and new kit either this is all for my personal ride, I would have bought Kyles kit had I known just how close it was to release...
I am interested in the upgrade. I have a camp scrambler with an off-road controller. I have had the issues with the power cutting in and out. I contacted Juiced and they had me send my controller and my battery in for service. They reprogrammed my controller. The bike does not work properly in any way. It works much better with the stock controller and it worked better before they reprogrammed the off-road controller. I have several electric bikes and this one is the only one that I have these kind of issues with. Thanks for making the videos.
This is scaring me off JuiceBikes. I am looking at getting the RipCurrent S. Do you think its a better value? What do you think about the JuiceBike Company as a whole? How is their customer service?
@@davoncci I have more than 3000 MI and have had no problems other than the pulsating power. I know other people have the same problem. I wish when dealing with customer service they would have just said that is how it works. I would have been content with that answer. Customer service was good sometimes not extremely fast but it seemed like they wanted to do what it took to try to make me happy. I use the bike to commute so I am riding it with throttle almost all of the time. I am satisfied with my experience. That being said I'm not buying another Juiced bike. I am going to try the company m2s and see how that goes. Good luck with whatever you choose.
@@davoncci I do not have any experience with them. I have a radwagon with around 7000 MI their customer service has been excellent. My parents have a radrover and a radcity. I have ridden them quite a bit they work very well although they only go 20 miles an hour. I also have a flx attack mid Drive full suspension bike. I have had a few issues with it. Their customer service is not great.
@@rr9381 Yeah...I wanted to go for the RadMini. This is going to be my first Ebike. I heard the 20Miles/H speed limit is going to get old soon. Since I am using this as a car replacement, going Class 3 is the way to go for me.
Just got a hyperscrambler 2. It has a dual battery 52 volt and a 35 amp peak controller. Can that be made faster? Top speed is fine at around 32mph with me (240 pounds) on it but better acceleration would really be nice.
can you please send me the link for the larger screen and the larger controller? will the controller work on my hyper scrambler 2? also do you have any other upgrades? thank you
I wish My little 500w Swift Zip had way more power than it does.I looked at upgrades but if I have to swap both motor, controller and LCD, I might as well buy a different bike.
Need "better", not bigger. The Rip Current S has the controller in the downtube, so it needs to fit. Also, did you still experience the top speed flutter?
I have.a Rize Blade 750 watt motor and a 19.2 ah LG battery. it is very similar to the Juiced Scrambler. would your controller and display upgrade work for the Rize Blade as it does for the Juiced Scrambler? thank you
Hi , a similar story but different results 🤔 : standard Fiido M1 full suspension folding ebike with 250w direct drive hub motor. 36 v 12 ah battery . 36v 300w 8 ah rated standard controller in unlimited mode max speed 33 kmh 40km range. Tried it with an Auxiliary 48 v 25 ah battery straight into standard controller gives 73 kmh. 100- 120 + km range. Thought I try an upgrade to a higher spec, KT 36-48 v 750w 20 ah controller (with KT 3 LCD screen 🤦♂️) running same auxiliary 48v 25 ah battery But the Fiido M1 would only give max 43 kmh and lower 80 km range with this KT controller 🤬 Conclusion the higher spec KT upgrade gave no advantage, a lower range and lower speed = was waste of time and money 😷 The only advantage of purchasing the KT with lcd3 screen I found your Utube channel with your great KT3 lcd tutorial and therefore subd 👍😎👍
You should sell a bike similar to a Hyper scorpion step thru. More power, bigger battery, 4 piston brakes etc. Those step thru scrambler type bikes are big sellers, but you don't have any.
@Area13 I have a Juiced Bikes City Scrambler and I would like to get the upgrade kit but I was wondering do you have a bigger 750watt motor that would fit into my casing. I also changed my freewheel from the stock 14/28 to an 11/28 and the chainring to a 56t. I would like to know if I should put an 11/34 freewheel on the bike to get a little more speed that way as well. I’ve been calling your company phone without any luck to get someone to pick up the phone or call me back. So can you please respond back to me and let me know what to do as far as talking to someone from your company. Because I want to be able to go faster on my bike
I need a upgrade fro the hyper scorpion. If there is a possibility since it’s a 1000watt Bafang. I just want to hit 35. It hits 31 but can maybe get 32.
