Thank you so much for this! It's been years since I've used Photoshop and I found myself at a loss for a minute before I went on a search for a video tutorial. THIS was EXACTLY what I needed. I couldn't hit the subscribe button fast enough. Thank you!
Your tutorials are incredibly helpful and really well done, so thanks! I had to come to the comments to find out why you say "check off" dither and transparency but leave them checked ON when you create the gradient!!!! But I get it now. Bottom line for anyone confused like I was: Make sure to check ON dither & transparency if they are checked OFF! By turning them "on" you will be checking them "off" the list of things to do! 🤣
Brendan, I'm making a 2nd comment to thank you again for this great video. Wow, it is exactly what I needed for the project I'm working on. Your production is precise and clear. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Great video Brendan, your explanation of the different types of transparent gradient effects in Photoshop was engaging and easy to follow. Keep up with the good work.
Enjoyed the tutorial. This was my first time watching your video. For those of us that need a little more time to digest your instructions, it would be nice if you could slow down a bit. When you know something so well, the tendency is to rush a bit. But thanks!
Great video. Short and clear. (Usually I listen to similar tutorials at a speed of 1.5 or even 1.75 due to unnecessary even annoying explanations. Excellently explained and demonstrated. Thanks a lot, it was very helpful to me. Keep up the good work.
Just starting this video, but hopefully this is the one I actually am looking for. I'm a beginner and my sister is having me teach myself photoshop, because she doesn't have the time to record a bunch of videos of her process on how she does stuff step by step, and I've never used the gradient in photoshop before. I did something with it last night, but I can't remember how I did it, so maybe this vid will help. :) I'm learning how to edit the yard signs for my sister's etsy store.
Great job, very cool channel. Very tasty lower thirds. And the photo montage at the intro was superb. Did you take those photos? If you did, a hearty congratulations to an incredible career.
Hi Brendan. Thank you for being so concise and informative with a smooth delivery! This is exactly what I was trying to do with masking and gradients but just couldn't fully figure it out. Awesome. :)
Thanks for this, im making a thumbnail for a video and im using vertical photos and wanted the photos not to look out of place and by fading the edges on one images it makes the images looks a bit more natural.
Thanks for the helpful video👏 I checked all the things you said but when I apply gradient tool anywhere on my project it takes over the whole page even when I change its setting.. I had to use brush tool to reach the same effect!
Hi Brendan. I might be a little late for this comment, but I've noticed that when I click on foreground/background in the tool bar to change the order of gradient that nothing happens. I must click on the gradient drop down window at the top to change the order. Thanks
A helpful video. Thank you. I would like it more if you split all these tips into 30 second videos so I didn't need to go through 7 minutes of irrelevant content to find the radial opacity gradient
The problem is , how to show the exported png image like this one in windows 11 photo viewer? The transparency will convert to white!! , annoying me , & Facebook also do the same fault , only paint brush program shows the real transparency of this png , is there away to solve this situation please?
it doesnt work for me. whenever i apply the gradient to the mask, nothing happens. the gradient doesnt appear. nothing online tells me how to fix this, and im short on time with a project due soon that requires this.
You know what, this has been an issue with me as well. I feel like Photoshop changed something in their more recent updates. The gradient tool doesn't seem to have the same effect as it used to. Before Photoshop wrecked the feature, it was actually really easy to do a transparent gradient mask, but now when attempted, you end up with very lacking results. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
straight up when I go and apply my gradient to make half the picture fade it won't do it... it is super frustrating and I keep trying to figure out why
sorry these all fails ! , i did same steps but my windows 11 photo viewer shows me the empty background grid of my png images as white color !! i couldn't find why !
