I loved it!!! I can't wait to start making my own watercolour paints 😆 Thank you!!! and Thank you so much for showing an vegan option to make the binder solution 💕
You require distilled water just Incase you need to tweak the formula of your pigment to binder ratio. The binder can be used without any modification.
I like that you included so many specifics about bowling paint safely because I haven’t heard about the toxins and dangerous properties of a lot of the pigments and wondered if it was a good idea to mix my own paint but my studio is in my bedroom so probably not
I am just getting started collecting all the tools. And tried with eggshell (brown white duck blue!). Would you also filter it by pour it in water then filter pigments from fine grain?
egg white is pure calcium carbonate and doesn't have any impurities like stones do. you can separate fine grain from the coarse by sieving, and grind till you get a very fine particle size ready for use.
Thank you so much, Jyotsna! This is so helpful. When you add the binder in the video does that liquid mixture include the clove oil and honey too? If not, when do you add that in? Also - is it possible to make pigment from leaves from a tree or something?
Pleasure! Yes, the binder contains honey and clove oil. Indeed, pigments ( lake pigments ) can be isolated from organic matter but they are mostly ephemeral and the procedure is different.
i use 2 parts gum arabic, 4 parts water and 1 part honey (or rice/agave syrup for vegan option). this is the standard ratio i use but depending upon the kind of pigment you use it will require tweaking. you just have to experiment. hope this helps.
