I don’t want mine perfectly round, I like the idea of the irregular border because it’s more authentic but this is a great idea for those who want more of a perfect circle! :)

I have a hot air gun meant for working with SMD electronics, and it actually works perfectly for this because it's temperature controlled to the exact temperature you want, and it's a pencil point width air flow that can be precisely aimed, even allowing seals already on the envelope to be reflowed for restamping. 😎. It's maybe $70, but has a lot of uses making it handy to have around even if not for its intended purpose.

Great idea to get a consistent size seal. I use a silicon mat too, wax paper didnt work for me either. I also use silicon molds to get different shaped seals. I still need to do a video. TFS your process.

I make them pretty much the same as you do. I did use the 1 inch cavity and it works much better . it gives much better results along the edges for me. Thanks for sharing.

Great tut....awesome way to get a nice round seal....I have that same pretty spoon and cannot use it...best is the wood handle....great idea using the heat gun, will definitely try it next time....thanks Ida.

I have just started making these. I ordered the silicone molds and hope it helps me. I use the candle but cut the wick way down so the flame is not too large. It seems to work well.

You could melt the wax directly in place on the silicone mat with the heat gun and save pouring from the spoon.

Stir it with a toothpick before you pour it just to make sure everything is melted

I like to use a blunt tip needle-like a steel yarn needle-so you can pull the cooled wax off and drop it back in to melt so I have less waste-do what works best for you though😁👍🏼

I saw a woman on utube put the stamps in a dish with ice in it. It made the stamp colder and it didn’t sink down in the wax as much and it didn’t slide around. I loved your video. It really helped me. Hugs, treen 🌸🌸🌸

Your envelopes are adorable~I too make handmade cards and tags. These are the reasons I decided to get back into wax seals. I use to do it when I was young, years ago, in California. It was so popular back then. I have ordered all my items and I also had seen the video using the heat gun. Since I have a few I use for embossing that would be easiest for me as well. I loved your video and am now ordering the smaller silicone molds. Thank you for your inspiration! Blessings 💕 P.S~How do you attach your seals?

When they used to make these and drip the wax onto the envelopes, then stamp a lot of times there was no ridge and no two were every alike. I don't think you should try to make them perfectly round. I think they used a lot less wax than you are using too. They used just enough wax to get the image to show. If you make them perfect they will look machine made.

Interesting comment. Sounds like you should keep the negative comments for your own RU-vid channel. This is her channel. She is kind enough to share her vast talents with anyone who chooses to watch. In this day and age, we are adding wax seals inside journals and on embellishments. It would not be practical to risk your work for an oops with melted wax. Your comments sounded unkind.
