How to make Whipped Body Butter less greasy?
It's not too hard you just need the right ingredients. I love to use this body butter during the cold months because it's rich and super moisturizing.
I used lavender essential oil but you can pick whatever essential oil you prefer, as long as it is safe for topical use.
1/3 cup shea butter (75 g)
1/3 cup vegetable oil (75 ml)*
1/2 tbsp cornstarch or arrowroot powder (5 g)
20-30 drops essential oil
4 capsules of vitamin E oil
*For less greasy results, I suggest using light oils such as grapeseed oil, apricot kernel oil, and Jojoba oil.

Most recipies do not call for essentials oils when you are making a non greasy formula. As oil is greasy. We are adding arrow root powder or cornstarch to take up the oils in the body butter so it absorbs faster. Adding more oils is counterintuitive. This formula is best reserved for a summer time formula when it is hot outside. Unscented is best.

The essential oil content doesn't add to the product's greasiness but the type of carrier oil or butter used in this product which adds or lessens the greasiness

Thank you're more educated in oils than some of them I've watched. But mine always turns greasy no matter how much shea butter and less oils and coconut oil I use. I'm about to give up. I wasted a lot of money on everything and waste it.

Why do you have to melt the oil in the beginning can’t you just whip it as is? I am new to making body lotions so any tips would be nice also are used Shea butter and I put some essential oils in it but it came out greasy I don’t have cornstarch. Is there any household products that I could put in there to make it less greasy?

Great video! I whipped mine for about 15 minutes, used Jojoba and Grape seed oil, as well as arrowroot powder. However, the body butter was still extremely greasy. I'm wondering if I needed to chill it longer and then whip it for longer. What do you think? Thanks so much!!

Thank you! I think that you could try to add a bit extra arrowroot powder. However, please mind that body butters are always going to be greaser than lotions since they do not contain water and are only oil-based. All the best ✨

If you decide to add water then you would have to add a preservative to it.

Hi! I find it a bit too rich to be used as a face moisturizer. For the face, I always suggest a lotion, with some water content. I hope this helps :)

I haven't tried with castor oil! Yes coconut oil very greasy! I like to use apricot kernel oil, grapeseed oil or jojoba oil :)

I’m just saying that if someone uses it. When they get out the shower. water will get in contact with it. So how much would you use for this recipe if that’s the case 1% 3% 2%. And if that’s the case how many grams or ounces that be for your recipe.
