How To Make Window Style Journal Covers | Step By Step Tutorial

Hey guys! Here are the simple steps to making your own window style journal covers. These are my favourite covers to make as the options, combinations and variations are literally as endless as your imagination!

And here are the supplies I used in this video:
- Acid free PVA glue
- Book board/chipboard/recycled card boards
- Paper trimmer
- Craft knife/exacto knife
- Pencil/pen
- Bone folder
- Ruler
- Gesso
- Acrylic paint
- Crackle medium
- Paint brushes
- Liquitex varnish
- Gilders paste wax in antique gold

Love everything you do! You’re the reason I junk journal. I started with the “Nameless” hard cover, crackled window journal about a year ago and am still clinging to the soft cover fabric window journal you last did. I n can safely say, I know what my next journal will be now! Oh, and I recently got a die cut machine but it never occurred to me to use it (duh!) for the cut out on the cover which is historically my nemesis!

One of my wishes are absolutely a die cut but I have sad when I sell one of my journals I will buy one and the next is a trimmer where I never have to change the blade. I use a lot of money on just the blade to my Fiskars trimmer. The cover looks SO beautiful and spectacular 😍 I really appreciate you to share your ideas Hugs and blessings from Denmark 🇩🇰

Thank you so much for showing us this! I always wondered when you put the photo in. Now I know it’s one of the last steps. Thank you! I also downloaded your tutorial on Etsy, so now I can really make my own covers with my own photos/images. I do have one question: when you put on the varnish, do you also varnish the image on your journal cover?

Thank you ☺️ yes you should varnish everything including the image! It will keep it protected and stop anything getting marked, chipped or scratched x
