Great video!!! When I saw that it was over 1 hour long, I figured I’d watch 10-15 minutes worth then move on. I watched the whole thing! I agree with your other viewers that I got more from your video than a lot of other RU-vidrs. Thanks for the blueprint.
Same here, almost bailed on it early, glad I let it run. Buying a 2015 Challenger RT today, already own a bone stock 2022 Scat Pack Shaker. I got the 5.7 as a project car and I want to mod it to run with the Scat. This is a decent guide with some really good insights. It’s a fun platform. Thanks for the education!
I have Stainless Works long tubes with their high flow catted mids running through two Dynomax racing bullets and a pair of Flowmaster Outlaws out back
5.7 L Hemi is arguably one of the most choked down motors from the manufacturer. With the correct throttle body and intake and getting headers in a full exhaust system and then throwing in a can in tuning the motor. You can actually get a little over 500 horses from the crank out of these motors before you even add forced air entry. There is nothing wrong with an RT. Here's a piece of information that most people don't know. On Dodges race team, the Challenger that they run actually has a 345 cubic inch motor that runs in the low 70s with just over 600 horsepower. They are not running a 6.2 or a 6.4 l.. the fact that they actually use a 5.7 in their race car which runs in the low sevens with just over 600 horsepower speaks volumes period last I checked you could purchase that crate motor just like the elephant motor however the 345 race engine is like 49k. I'm still driving. Sorry for any talk text errors. I had to comment, though I always get pumped seeing people rep the 5.7
Good content. I love my Charger RT 5.7, I’ve always realized you can build your 5.7 up, as NASCAR uses a 5.7 NA to 700 hp. Amazing that power w/o boost from NASCAR. Knowing what you’ve done with yours has been awesome keep it up!
The 5.7 has so much potential that is turned down by the factory. All it wants is to be turned up. Like you said, just ask NASCAR. Thanks for the love! 🙏🏾
This deserves a lot more attention! I just picked up my new 2022 Rt for 40k, just for the car not including tax title license and all that other jazz…. 35k for a fully built Rt is insane!!!
I recently just wrecked my Charger Daytona R/T. I watched this whole video in depth and I agree with everything you're saying. I am going to actually buy a Daytona 392 because i had a pretty fair amount of performance mods on my 5.7 and was planning on a full build, but the insurance money i got from it was very very low and has set me back drastically.
I’m glad I found this channel. Finally, another person that realizes the 5.7 HEMI can be a true sleeper engine! I’ve told anyone that would listen that the 5.7 ‘s biggest flaw is the exhaust side of it. From the OEM exhaust manifold down to the 2.5” pipe and phony tips: 💩💩💩
Great video my man great car. I just wanted to comment. You are correct about the 309 rear end being a better way to get your power to the ground it is a limited slip. Your explanation between the two rear ends was a little backwards though. I'm not critiquing I just want to clarify for people who are serious about building their Chargers. So the open differential actually divides the power will a 50/50 each wheel and if your car is in a straight line you will burn out both Wheels . What happens though when you go around the corner and you take the weight off of one or other of the wheels you lose the power with the hoping differential. The limited slip differential actually only spends one will until it starts losing traction and then both will start spinning. The limited slip seems a lot like positive traction though because these cars have such high horsepower it's always spinning at least one will which in turn causes the other will to kick in and spin. So with a limited slip there is not 50/50 power going to each wheel. In the beginning all the power is only going to one will but the moment it breaks traction the power goes to both Wheels . Yes the limited slip is better for doing donuts however arguably both the open and The Limited are going to hook traction ideally quite equally. What makes the 309 a better choice is because it is a steeper dear so you get more out of the low end but it's not steep enough that it hurts top speed. It does reduce the top speed a little but not a drastic amount. That's why most of your new hellcats though do you have the 262 open, one it's better on gas mileage and also it does create a higher top end speed while still getting the vehicle off the line . I hope there's not too many errors in this comment as I'm driving and I was talk texting this and did not have time to proofread. I am not hating and I'm not critiquing this video this is an excellent build happy I found this video. Best of luck to your channel bro
I bought a 21 charger RT 5.7 almost a year ago... Been trying to figure out how i should upgrade it... Now i know haha had to get my notepad out 😂 Very informative and very much appreciated sir! I salute you 🙏
Hell yes, best advice ever. Always hang out with gear heads who know way more than you do and ask alot of stupid questions. You'll run out of guestions before you know it.
a cold air intake alone did alot for my 06 chrysler 300c. the power went up as well as gas mileage.. diablo clames 25 hp increase with a cold air intake and 93 octane tune. would love to see what the tune alone does..
Yo I've watched a lot of other channel content. But rite off the jump I subscribed to your channel just after 10min of watching. Your video is HEAT Bro!!!
I started out with a 2010 Challenger RT 5.7 6 spd, moon roof. Nice car. Whatever issues it had my 2021 Chally Scat have similar. They both look great. Mopar or no car. Cars today are phenomenal.
Great video bro just subbed and also just tote down my own car going backbup with 6.4 cam and all the shinny pieces that goes with it just dropped the heads of to machine shop as well so thanks for all the info its up now lol
Finally someone that speaks old school fundamental wrench. This is a very high quality matched component build. I sold my 13 rt 6spd for a srt392 6 spd. I may have kept it if Isaw this first. I like my suspension and brakes but the Rt was radar red interior inserts and had BR9 brakes. The Rt is definitely worthy. Not to be demeaned. Vindication. Nice.
Thanks for dropping that knowledge from the beginning about life and the dos and don't about building a monster 5.7. I actually have to admit when I seen how long the video was,I was going to skip alot of the video. Was able to watch from beginning to the end, with know problem. Keep up the good work Brother.
Great advice and informative to people who trying to learn. I went the hellion twin turbo route and getting things ready for install. Currently working on the stow train set up. Got a 3.09 diff on its way and some hellcat axles and a 8HP70 transmission from Hellraiser performance.
First, great video, brother!! You not only talk, but explain your thinking and logic. Second, you've built an awesome car. Looks sweet and performs. I've been looking at Chargers and this is a great video, to see the possibilities, as well as a possible direction.
Love ❤ this video... I have a 2019 rt challenger. I'm always picked on by mustangs Camaro's and even my own scat pack brothers. This video is very informative. Thank you for this information I'm going to apply it to my build. I just want to be a little bit faster than a scat pack.
Great video bro. I definitely subscribed. Very knowledgeable, open minded. I just started my channel because like you said, there isn't alot of channels for our 5.7's. Its nice to see a 5.7 build because we are slept on. Looking forward to your content 💪🏾
@@WeRVenom345 appreciate the love and yessir to hit those numbers u hitting...i know you hurting feelings out there. Its all about scat packs here in st.louis...time to chanhe some minds 💪🏾
1st off let me start by saying I wish I would have found your channel a long time ago You are knowledgeable entertaining And funny as hell. I like how you explain things to where everybody gets it not too many youtubers do that So With that being said you have a new subscriber look forward to a lot more educational videos.
Im so happy i found your channel! Love your vibe and being happy for everyone no hating… i just bought a 2021 r/t white with black top package, im not looking to do anything close to what you got going on, but i just want her a little more snappy was thinking cold air intake maybe tuning not really caring about HP more so response if you can throw over any tips without breaking the bank, i would be super thankful😊
Thank you for the love. If you just want more snap (throttle response), I’d go CAI + Throttle body upgrade + tune. You’ll feel an immediate and very noticeable change in your acceleration.
I drive the 3.7 L hemi 4x4 truck and I’m scanning the different videos on performance (thoughts are elsewhere) then your video plays.”PEAK-A-Boo!😂yeah peek-a-boo lol😂 I thought your lesson was humble and also humbling to the man or women who haven’t met your ride. Where did you learn the best environments for this car? How did you obtain and apply all of it?
Love the video! I have 5.7 rt challenger and trying to build my car like yours. Building slowly cus I'm broke and im paying out pocket. Keep up the content. Definitely subscribed..
5.7 is the superior motor imo. It will also handle boost a bit better, and if you do boost it, you will basically already be close or faster than the stock scats out there.
Much Respect Bro ! I loved the video ! You got great build so far !! Keep going I love seeing Brothers doing their builds … and your right on point with 5.7 .. it’s a perfect motor to boost!
I also own a 5.7 and most of the love is for the Scats and Hellcats, which I love, but I love seeing some 5.7 RT love. You got a subscribe from me! Hopefully one day I can beef up my 5.7!
The 5.7 just gives a person more useable power. The rod to piston ratio is so much better. The ring pack on the 5.7 is better vs the scat . You can run more boost on a stock 5.7 vs Scat. A lot of stuff from the scat works even better on the 5.7...its just better.
Just picked up a 2018 5.7 r/t over a 2019 scat pack due to the miles being better on the 5.7 and me thinking that the 5.7 could always catch up to a scat as far as power if I was willing to put the work into it and like you said the 5.7 is the OG of the hemis so it’s probably had the most RD done on it.
I put cat back exhaust hellcat air intake lithium battery and the car is much faster once out of warranty if I just do headers high flow cat amd Diablo tune I can’t imagine how fast I’ll be amd with nothing crazy to motor at all
I bought my MAG 6.1 at 59k miles for 13k. Supercharged & almost FBO, and some trans stuff. Im definitely in 35k+ but no notes, low insurance (usaa), but without the fancies (launch control & 8 speed).
Great Video dude I Just purchased an RT Durango 2021 and most Def want to do some things to her. Your video is really enlightening I will be watching. Plus your old school like me lol
Fantastic show man, love the way you describe everything you've done. And it's done right!!! You thought of everything that needed changing from thermostat to the drip can. My car is a 17 Challenger octane red 5.7 6spd with a 3.90 rear completely stock with 30,268 kms, (what that is in miles idk) I'm up in Canada and the 385hp it's advertised with seems low to me. I've owned a couple 60s/70s muscle cars and the hp rating seems low to me. Not bitching, not by a long shot. I love this car, treat it like it's a baby,I'm not hard on it at all. I love the mods you've added to your car and just subscribed to channel. We'll done vid man, looking forward to more.
RIPP coilpacks are absolutely terrific; and you can actually feel the difference in power; Look them up. They claim an extra 20hp on 5.7s and 30hp on 6.4s; I can't confirm those #'s but they definitely add some uummph
great informative vid my friend. i had a srt w the 6.1 in it but sold it. had a charger but i want to get a newer challenger now. im really diggin the idea of a r/t sleeper like yours for sure. the catch cans are an absolute must have no negotiations. another thing i ran 20w50 schaeffer racing oil in mine. my buddy builds these cars all the time. he owns a body shop where i live at. thats the only oil he runs period. he also drag races as well. he runs the oil in his charger rt as well. he has a 06 300 srt8 completely built w over 1k hp rear wheel. cool build and nobody likes the one wheel deal lol. do you still have it and if so how is it holding up?
Thanks for video. Very helpful when going over the fine details that many RU-vid mention but not as detailed as you spoke. I was stationed in ft hood so we are close and I hope to see your RT in my review some time in the near future jkjk. I hated this video so much that I had to like and subscribe and look forward to seeing more. God bless you brotha keep doing what you do 👍🏿🤜🏿🤛🏿
I'm in NC and finding a shop that will even do performance upgrades for Chargers is next to impossible and when I found one..... quoted Triple what you said you have in upgrades for less than what you have done........ really wish I could find a shop that would be affordable.
Yea NC is forever on some BS when it comes to building your car. I know because I lived in the Triangle for a decade but now I’m in Texas which is heaven for car building. You’re gonna probably have to go to SC or, better yet, get with some shops in North GA where the prices are lower but the work is still quality. Sometimes the drive is worth the savings. Gearheads do it all the time - drive hours to find the right shop.
Correct. But I don’t idle for that very reason. Nothing productive comes from idling for no reason (and there’s rarely a reason to idle in park). I turn the car off every time. Rather work the starter than the lifters. Easier fix later. Plus… engine hours matter.
Depending on supercharger size and turbos. It can be achievable on a 345 hemi,or GM or ford engines. Surprisingly some v6s from GM,ford, and Mopar have very good horsepower from factory.
Price on the adapter kit kills the whole point of using the ihi 2.4. Some of these performance shops don't think. They just try to max profit not understanding more economical kits will bring more money than max profit prices
You’re completely correct on both fronts. Which is exactly why I laid it out as I did regarding that particular blower. Sure, if can be done but unless it’s that specific look you want, the adapter kit prices the whole mod out of its own “space” - so might as well go to the others.
Amaaaazing video my dude. Love the content for the 5.7 345 for life. Any reason you went with the magnuson over the whipple. I was looking at doing a whipple gen 5 3.0 on my 2023 Durango hemi orange tow and go. What part of Texas you in? I’m out a little north of Houston.
I would think the A/C would work better with a cooler stat, because the A/C condensor sits right next to the radiatior.. talked to a guy at diablo and he told me the higher engine temps give better performance.. he said there are some stock cars that have t stats all the way up to 230 F. So im on the fence abt changing mine,.
Heat is ALWAYS the enemy bro. That’s not opinion. It’s proven car science. Drop your coolant temps for more power AND to make your motor last YEARS longer.
Great detailed video 👍🏽.. I have 2018 charger 345 Daytona … I was looking to do something to make it more quicker beside just CAI and throttle body spacer .
Skip the TB spacer. Waste of money on something with no actual gains (this is proven on dynos). Put those funds toward something else. If you were going with a higher end spacer, save that money and add it to a small pot to upgrade the whole throttle body. Now you’re talking both gains AND throttle response. 😊
