Good job . I know how hard it is, particularly when there are some issues. I installed on my BMW F30 head up display, lane change warning, lane departure, 360 camera, ambient light and park assist but I didn't install Acc because it's expensive and parts are not easy to find. Very good job... Congratulations
@@grtbgf wondering the same thing. Im in the process of doing it and cutting the dash seems difficult plus you need to modify the left air duct. Not worth it imo. I will be buying a new dash.
I really wanna do this but my technical skills are far too weak to do this without paying someone to install. I had the system on my F15 and I loved it. Btw just so you know, parts from Latvia are usually stolen off of cars in Germany and Central Europe and then fenced in ebay.
The sensor does seem to 'learn' its alignment. I have a mid 2014 F30 with factory ACC (UK based) but I had to replace the sensor as it stopped working. I fitted a replacement sensor and it was like you said - it would lock on to a car in front but then 'lose' the lock, often accelerating into the back of a braking car! I took a look at the sensor bracket and it was quite wobbly and seemed to be aimed slightly low. In the end I used nuts and bolts to hold the sensor bracket to the crash bar and the lower holes in the plastic bumper part. It was very much improved but still lost its lock frequently. After a hundred or so miles of driving it is now 95% perfect and has definitely improved since the first drive after fitting - certainly enough for everyday use. You can also change the alignment values with ISTA. Some trial and error may well have worked there as you could adjust the vertical correction values up/down and see if it gets better or worse. If you are getting an error/fault before you even try to use the ACC then I don't think that would be related to the calibration/alignment. Technically the alignment/calibration has to be performed each time you have wheel alignment adjusted but that's probably BMW being a bit anal.
Don’t think so, my car is throwing an error for ACC misalignment. It gives vertical correction angle 5,6 deg up, not sure I can adjust it? I guess I’ll have to remove the front bumper and have a look at the bracket
@@dopiaza2006 Yes it seems to be fixed in both upper and lower part. Sad that BMW made it so that you cannot remove the lower grille and that you have to remove the bumper to inspect it properly.. The car have some scrapes underneath the front bumper so I guess that might have bent it somehow.. Seems to be pointing a bit downward, I'll just have to pick it apart sometime this summer I guess.. :)
Excellent... I'm super excited to do this retrofit. I am already in the process of modifying my late 2016 F31 330d xdrive SE and adding a lot like changed the whole interior to Red/black like yours, all 4 heated seats and new door cards and black headliner etc. Both Msport bumpers and side skirts added. I have a 2018 Msport done car with a lot of asserieries. I am looking forward to add Satnav, m sport heated steering with cruise control, HUD, rain sensor, S6WA semi digital instrument cluster. I am trying to get some help to get all the extra, which I have added to be properly coded. Hardware wise, I have completed 90%. I am in the UK and looking forward to being in contact with you to get knowledgeable advice. If you need anything from here, you are most welcome. TIA. Regards Imtiaz
Got a 2018 bmw 430 convertible. I want to add this. Curious if you knew any one that knew how to do this in Florida or Georgia. I am committed to do it my self. Looks like a mod that can be done with patience would you walk me through?
I have a 2016 640i I intend to retrofit with Acc. The car buyer opted for the Frontal Collision Warning With City Mitigation option and not the Acc... Big mistake! I now intend to add the Acc.. I don't know if the pump is acc, will have to check, also not sure if the ICM is compatible, all this I will have to look at before I get started. However, since the Acc was an option on the car it should be fairly straight forward... Your thoughts??
I watched your video, it's great and I congratulate you! I am asking for information on "Self-driving" ACC Retrofit DIY Where can I buy or order by post? info: BMW 420i, year of September 2018, gasoline
Yes you will need part number: 61319268476 depending whether or not you have KAFAS, if you do have the Driver Assistant option, then you won't need it. In the video you can see the vibrator generator module 25:22 which is a required module for the driver assistant, so my guess is that this F30 had the switch already installed.
Brilliant guide, job well done, did you ultimately calibrate the sensor? I have recently done the same retrofit on my F20 with a donor radar sensor from F30 and haven't calibrated it yet, it works fine, but sometimes I notice that the car cannot keep the car in front locked especially when doing a right turn.
The part numbers of the ABS pump is a bit tricky because in reality there are 2 part numbers, i.e. one on the hydro unit pump and the another part number for the electronic module itself, but on realoem you will find a different part number!! It also makes a difference which ABS pump you have from factory is it the black pump (pre-LCI) or the all silver model (LCI). The ICM High part numbers are more straightforward...the reason probably why you can't find them is because the ACC option was really expensive to spec from the factory and many people opted not to do it
Yes you need to replace the normal cruise control option (544) with 5DF, at minimum you need to code the following ECUs: FEM, DSC,ICM,NBT/NBT2,FRR,KOMBI and depending whether or not you have Driver Assistant option, you will also need to code KAFAS
@@unitedforhelp yes, I have completed this retrofit. Everything is working fine even without calibration except one complaint. I hear a rumbling noise from front end and feels like the brakes are stuck. It’s taking a little more effort to move the vehicle forward when at stop. Could it be because of the old break lines?
Did you use the correct ABS pump (LCI or pre-LCI) according to your vehicle age? Although the brake pipes part numbers should be different for cars with ACC, I did not change them and I have never noticed any particular resistance, when trying to take off from dead stop. Are you sure the car in front has started moving before trying to move forward again? If Im not mistaken the Stop and Go function will not automatically move the car forward if the car has been stopped for longer than 3 seconds and requires the driver to hit the resume button
