I’ve been using Canva for my first 2 and probably next 5 Spotify releases. Not for everyone as mine are themed-ultra basic line art, the title of the track in all caps basic font and my label name much smaller below that. I hate busy artwork. It’s not about my cover art for me. It’s about the music.

GIMP is free and open source, and it can pretty much do everything Photoshop can. It's a little harder to learn but there are tutorials and pre-made scripts for most things already on the internet somewhere.
