Great Idea! Great way for anyone to keep track of what's inside their engine and what might be going on! Thanks again for a great video!

Simple, but genius! Excellent idea! Going ole JB Weld. The epoxy equivalent of vice grips. Useful in so many ways.

Love the JB Weld. That stuff has saved me tons of money. Thanks Mick!

@@KentuckyFriedFixes Same here! From cars that home fix-its, it has so many uses. The problem that I've seen with it are tge people who don't give it enough time to set. 24 hrs for a job like yours is perfect, but some jobs needs at least 48 hrs. 🍺😋👍

Ive always put a magnet on my drain plug on my vehicles! I took a Predator drain plug and drilled a hole through it and I clamped a 12" piece of tubing on it for hard to get to plugs when changing the oil in my karts.

I like the magnetic drain plugs on everything. It's shocking how much stuff they catch out of the oil!

That’s a great idea thanks for sharing it with us.One thing I did with JB wield was reinforce the inside of the side cover to make the walls thicker.

Great tip Sam! I love me some JB Weld! I've patched holes in lots of engine blocks with that stuff.

@@KentuckyFriedFixes the inside of the stock 212cc engines are not that thick and sometimes you can see the little cracks in them so I just reinforced it with the JB

Awesome idea I should start doing that because I got a lot of high mileage engines lol

Thanks Dirty 77, those ready-to-go magnetic drain plugs online are kinda pricey and I do like saving money where I can. Love that new orange "01" bike build of yours! Top shelf!

I use paper shop towels for bolts in my sockets regularly for them hard to reach places I bought some extention while back from hf that were magnetic they have came in pretty handy might do this with some of my 3/8 SK time is money and the few seconds I save from running a screw driver getting the paper towel out adds up

Anything that saves me trouble is a good thing. I'm so glad I was introduced to these small magnets! I used to stuff sockets with grease to hold troublesome-to-reach bolts in place, no more!

Have you ever had one fail?Im wondering if the magnet could come off the drain plug and attach to the cam or crankshaft.
@KentuckyFriedFixes
@KentuckyFriedFixes Год назад
Hi jdunn6092! This is an experiment based on another magnetic drain plug I took apart. The magnet on that one was held in place with epoxy as well. So far so good, nothing has come loose. I've had good luck with the 24 hour cure JB Weld epoxies inside these engines. I've used it for everything from patching holes in blocks to reshaping intake ports with good results. The rare earth magnets are really strong too. IMO there's not much risk of it coming off the drain plug.

I thought of this today and wanted to see if anyone else have done this. I have a question. Does the magnetic ever fall off inside the engine? That's what I fear
@KentuckyFriedFixes
@KentuckyFriedFixes Год назад
Hi SuppMikeR! I used JB Weld two part epoxy to mount the magnet onto the drain plug. I don't think JB Weld will fail for this task. The magnet is already pretty strong and holds onto the steel drain plug very well, I use the JB Weld epoxy as insurance.
@JustifyJustin
@JustifyJustin 5 месяцев назад
@@KentuckyFriedFixes Ah so you mount it upside down?, I thought the attraction face should be directly in the oil stream, or isnt that necessary?
@KentuckyFriedFixes
@KentuckyFriedFixes 5 месяцев назад
@@JustifyJustin Hi Justin! I'm not sure what you mean by "upside down"?
@JustifyJustin
@JustifyJustin 5 месяцев назад
@@KentuckyFriedFixes Hey KFF. What I mean is, the magnet, is it pulling towards the plug or pulling towards the oil path?
@KentuckyFriedFixes
@KentuckyFriedFixes 4 месяца назад
@@JustifyJustin Hi Justin! Sorry for the delay but this didn't show up on my studio page. The magnet is held in place with epoxy to the end of the drain plug that is inside the engine. So it's actually on the drain plug side inside the engine bathed in the oil. Any metallic/steel particles will be collected on the magnet and can be cleaned off when you remove the drain plug to change the engine oil. It won't catch any aluminum but the aluminum specs are not as much concern as the bits of steel.
