What an awesome way to do a headliner! I’ve been looking for a way to do a full headliner my 66 F100 and this is going to be it! Thanks for sharing

Great idea, as I also have a 66 Ford, and it too, needs a headliner.

Rooster be one cool dude, I like his style....Seems like he's one of us that does a lot of thinking when he can't sleep. George would call it cogitating.

OUTSTANDING...I loath cloth/leather headliners, but now I know what my 61 falcon rod will be fitted with. I have done major fiberglass work for aircraft in the past and not have thought about this as a headliner....EXCELLENT.

Thank you for this video. I tried to do my 85’ Isuzu Pick up single cab (picture)and I sooo messed it up. I did mine from the inside and never thought to use the outside. Original headliner had a slight bow with a coat hanger like bracing. Underneath all roof and no bracing. Thank you very much for this video, I am deployed now but soon to be back in Hawaii and I will try this on my truck and maybe send some pictures or I’ll try to do a video. This is great. You mentioned of low riders well my truck has a 4” drop rear and 3” drop in front with torsion bars.

Great video! It looks like there was some weatherstripping/gasket trim material around the edges. Can you shed some light on what that is and where to purchase?

Jeff, Thanks for sharing this with me. Dennis at Roosters Rod Shop sure was nice enough to share his "trade secrets" with us and this speaks volumes about this guy and his business. I'd like to know where's the best place is to buy the mold release, at least not in bulk quantities? I could have used this stuff for some of my "brain storms" in the past. Maybe I should try Amazon, as much as I'd hate to. As for Mopar, it seems that Plymouth had the cheapest muscle car on the market in 1968-69. If I remember, they were slapping those 383 cu. in. Road Runners together for a price just under $3,000.00. Demand was really good for them, too. I saw them everywhere, but as you said the quality for the cars was lacking. The speed wasn't, though. My dad was always a "car guy" and very mechanically inclined. He was always tinkering with cars. We even had a service pit in our garage in the early 1950s, which was the strangest thing to see for a little kid, (me). In the 1950s, it seemed like we owned a new car every year and sometimes more often, as my dad made real good money, then. He sampled just about one of every brand of car, but seldom a General Motors product and never something made by Chrysler. It was Chrysler's eagerness to introduce unproven innovations, the stodgy post-war styling and the fact that Chrysler products wouldn't start in cold weather, that were what kept my dad away from any and all Chrysler products. He loved his 1951 Kaiser Manhattan, though, as he praised that car for years after he owned it. In truth, I must admit that the syling was great in the later 1960s for just about everything that Chrysler made. Gone was the weird looking sculpturing that plagued them for years. The Road Runner looked fast and sharp for a big car. For the money, it was a speed freak's dream. It's too bad that Uncle Sam ruined my plans to get one when they were new, because the price, performance and the looks sure were right.

I used this idea for my VW Beatle headliner. Worked great! I just guessed which fiberglass thickness to use. Can you suggest what weight and type of fiberglass matt to use? Thank you

How is the rattling between the headliner and the roof braces controlled or minimized / negated ?

Probelly one of the most interesting Vids you have done.....This has been on my mind......['55 Fairlane] He said "Fiberglass Mat......2 to 3 layers" BUT......What weight? I have a roll of 3/4oz & 1 1/2oz on hand.

Few questions: What brand of water based layer goes before gel coat What weight in oz chopped strand mat are you using Epoxy or polyester resin?
@noahandcadenceadventures8764
@noahandcadenceadventures8764 9 месяцев назад
Not sure the weight of glass strand . He didn't mention I would assume 1 oz mat. That would be sufficient. PVA water-based mold release works great. Ask your local fiberglass shop what brand they can get. Anykind will work. To be safe you could put a layer or two of bee wax or honeywax mold release before your PVR. It's basically insurance that your part will release. And it's epoxy resin
