Cool , just what the doctor order since I have broken three pairs of store bought sandals in the last week . I am pretty rough on my shoes. I've a question about shoemaking in general (I know you do other shoes!). Making turn shoes i've had issues with my edge to flesh butt stitch on the upper. I'm using veg tan with waxed linen thread and I've used anything from 2mm to 4mm leather and a thick and thin thread but keep getting the same problem. Basically I do the stitch and it looks great, but once I've soaked and turned the shoe, when the leather dries (at room temperature) it shrinks back from the join and leaves a small gap with the stitching showing. It's really annoying and seems like something I need to master to continue making shoes!
