I haven't filled one yet, but I'm very close to finishing my first one! I've only been using this format for a couple of months. They mostly hang out on my desk, where they are more likely to get used. I have a Webster's pages and Midori Traveler's Notebooks, so once I'm finished them they'll end up in one of those I imagine.

What weight paper do you use for the insert pages? Is there a brand that you like for stamping? I in Aus and thinking of doing a TN for December Daily. And how many pages do you usually use? Thanks!
@dearlydee
@dearlydee 7 лет назад
I don't use any particular brand but tend to use around 100gsm weight, this does still bleed through stamping depending what ink you use. Page number will depend on what I intend to use it for. Anything up to 24 pages, otherwise it might tend to get a bit bulky and hard to work with.

For the inside papers what do you like to use...copier paper is too thin and card stock can be too thick so what do you use that you can distress it but yet is thick enough to handle that? Nice trick with stapler too...
@dearlydee
@dearlydee 8 лет назад
I really aren't too fussed with what paper I use, I don't generally use a lot of distressing techniques in them so copy paper works pretty good for my needs. I have made a couple with cardstock, I just used less pages so it wasn't so thick.

Hi Dee! Dropping by to say that I used this tutorial and SUPER THANK YOU for such straightforward and simple instructions-perfect for the very Uncraftsy Me. Seriously, I am not very good at crafts, but that doesn't stop me from wanting to buy all the things. :p I made my template in the exact measurements for my insert covers and inside pages, then folded it in half and like you, punched holes for staples down the fold. I used parchment paper so I also have that translucency to see the papers underneath. I want to say that between you and Essie I am so happy I have so many TN process videos to watch to get ideas for layouts and inspire me. Thank you for everything you do

I'm just getting into traveler's notebooks and live in an area where I have to look online for pretty much anything craft related. I was a bit dismayed at the prices of the inserts. I've been printing my own planner inserts for a ring bound planner, but not sure if I can figure out how to line things up in the right area for placement of cutting for these, but I definitely want to try some blank ones. I see in your videos that you use dotted inserts, do you make those yourself or purchase them. I'm trying to figure out how I can print the dot grid on my paper to make one. Any suggestions? I can't wait to try this, maybe tonight. The only thin I don't have is a metal ruler for cutting, I think I am going to need one, I don't have much confidence in my cutting abilities, but I'm going to try. Will be so worth it to have inexpensive custom notebooks! Thanks so much for making this look so easy, I hope it will be that easy for ME! ;-) LOVE your videos, I could watch and listen to you forever!!
@dearlydee
@dearlydee 8 лет назад
I live in a pretty similar sounding area myself, so I've gotten used to having to give things a try myself! I print the dotted paper myself for the inserts, it can be difficult to make it line up but tbh I'm not that bothered if it doesn't! I just like having a bit of a pattern in the page to start with. Make sit a bit less intimidating I think. Thanks for watching!

Hey hun. Tried this and it worked beautifully. If these are the inserts what size should the actual TN be? For some reason we cant get TN's here in Oz, so we have to make our own!!!!!! Maybe I'll get to NZ one day xxxx
@dearlydee
@dearlydee 7 лет назад
The TN covers I have come from either Oz or the US. I got my first Midori TN from Bookbindersonline in AU and I did a quick Google search for you, and you can also get them from Scratch and Jotter or Milligram. You can get the pretty Webster's Pages covers from scrapboutique.com.au or washigang.com too. If you are making your own, you can make it whatever size you need to fit your inserts.
