Hi David, thank you for getting in touch. This actually depends on the iOS version which your device is running and on the App itself. This means that we can't give you a straight answer and you should try for this particular app and see if it works. Normally if the device is running iOS 9 or higher, you have to download the app from the AppStore, but we've had feedback from clients who have managed to do exactly what you said, and they were running much more recent iOS versions, so it depends on the app as well. We have this detailed guide which might help you along the way: imazing.com/guides/how-to-manage-apps-without-itunes Les us know if we can help in any other way!
You can download and install iMazing on your computer (both Mac or PC): imazing.com/download You can then connect and manage your iPad with it. Here is a step by step guide: imazing.com/guides/getting-started-with-imazing Let us know if we can help with anything else!

Apple and it's AppStore for iOS, iPadOS, WatchOS, and TVOS have become the bain of many ever since they choose to remove purchased apps and iPhone / iPad management out of iTunes and into the device itself. In one respect, this was a good move because iTunes was becoming a behemoth app on Mac and PC alike trying to do way too many things within a single piece of device management software. I use to call iTunes, my "Beach Ball App" because it would get so cluttered with things to manage ... apps, songs, movies and shows, podcasts, iBooks, etc., that my Mac would eventually freeze in the kernel panic state and never find its way back to our universe. Despite having plenty of disk space, iTunes just was not robust enough to manage everything. So on the pro and con scale, Apple's move to remove iOS and iPadOS device management to their respective devices was a huge PRO move. However, there is a huge CON side to this picture that makes the conversion of iOS apps from 32-bit to 64-bit seem like a minor nuisance despite the fallout that it generated that has worsened with Apple's direction and management of the AppStore. Many users have dove into the app pile for various reasons whether gaming arts, music, productivity at a SIGNIFICANT cost over the past years and since the advent of the in-app sales feature; have, spent major cash on these in-app add ons that are now pushing tablet and phone apps into the price realm of PC and Mac software which in my opinion has become a sanctioned racketeering effort comparable ti ticket scalping or worse. Let's face it, I know that R&D for apps is a big expense but consider where these apps are coming from and tell me it is worth it. Personally, I refuse to spend $100 or more on annual subscriptions to use software. So why is all of this a problem? Here's why. Apple now commands controls over who and what apps appear for sale in the AppStore. Despite the fact that you and I have spent significant money on apps for the iPad and iPhone, if they deem that the app no longer meets THEIR standards, they remove it from the store PERMANENTLY. Ever notice when the iOS and iPadOS updates come out every fall that some of your apps come up with a download icon next to them, and when you try to download it, it either does not meet the new iOS / iPadOS operability requirements of, Apps has secretly removed the app and it's developer from the AppStore. And folks, it isn't just the AppStore for iOS / iPad devices; but, the App Store for your Mac as well. I have a significant investment in software to support my own private business and on the last round moving fro, iPadOS and iOS 15.2 to 15.3 and beyond, apps became unavailable on the App Store and could no longer be downloaded. One piece of software I had was of excellent quality and capability and cost me around $6.00 for a first and second version when Apple moved to 64-bit apps and OSes. The subsequent acquisition of software for the Mac that could address the loss of functionality; marginally, would up costing my business over $500.00 and that does not account for the downtime as a result of the learning curves for the new software. That is a business loss as well. So as iMazing points out if you try to restore that software you will probably not find it. I am angry enough about Apple commanding 30% of the sales revenue on apps from their hardworking developers, many that are just one man shops; but now, Apple's unprotected ability to get rid of apps form the AppStore now borders on outright THEFT OF APPLICATIONS from the users that paid for them. Fortunately, iMazing has developed software that enables you to download, archive the app on a HDD or SSD, and reload it back to your device. KUDOS TO IMAZING !!! At least now we can concentrate on forcing Apple to clean up its act although it will be David vs Goliath. In roads are slowly being made.
