Time management in PMP exam was a crucial factor to crack the exam, thanks Mr.Andrew for this video for explaining the importance of time allocation for each session of 60 question and OMG those 2 -10mins break was a life saver. Break time helped a lot to relax, refresh the mind and get on with next session. Cleared my PMP exam with 3AT's . Thanks a lot, you are awesome 😊

Hi Andrew. This video is a good way to prepare for the PMP Exam. Indeed, during my exam, I was not fully aware of the average time allocated for each 60 questions pack. And, after the second break, I had 60 minutes remaining to answer 60 questions. And, 1 minute / question is quite short and I had to hurry to give an answer for every question !! Moreover, I didn't take the first break (as you can say you do not want to take it) and at the end, it was a mistake, because it was tough to finish the second batch of questions !! Anyway, even with that, I passed my exam. To conclude, I have two pieces of advice for people who didn't take the exam yet: 1/ be aware of the time you have for each batch of 60 questions and 2/ take your breaks (to breathe / drink / ...).

I already passed my PMP exam. Tracking time was tough for me. I knew I needed to spend no more than 1.2 minute per question. Also you can review only questions before taking a break. After break you can't go back to those questions. I'm a slow reader and I reviewed about 3 questions per session. And still I ended up not having enough time to review all marked questions at the end of my last session. I felt very tired and exhausted and wasn't thinking as clearly as in the beginning of the exam. My advice is not to count on review much. Or plan to mark no more than 3 questions per session for review.

I have passed my pmp a week. But I made a major mistake in analysing the break time. I went for the break and spent around 10 mins there not realising that time is running out. When I came back I just had 115 mins to solve 120 questions. I did not realise that I had utilised more than 60 minutes to complete the first set.

Hi Andrew, great content. Should I be concerned if I am answering questions inside of 30 seconds? I don't want to feel like I am rushing, or relying on "instinct"; however, I don't want to spend too much time and start second guessing myself either. What are your thoughts?
@AndrewRamdayal

30 seconds is quick, but if you feel comfortable with your answer it's okay. I had students who finish the exam in less than 3 hours and still pass.

Hi Andrew, thanks for your advises and help. Just an observation for those who will take the test online from home/work: during the exam OR THE BREAK you are not allowed to left the webcam view. Leaving the webcam view is not allowed for any reason. So, doing push ups on this exam format might not be a good idea. Once again, thanks a lot!

@@willf1849 It is true, believe me! 3 weeks ago I took my exam online. During the first break I stand up and went to drink water. When I came back they (PearsonVEU) revoke my exam because I leave the web cam view. I had to pay again for retaking the exam. I was surprise, but yes: leaving the webcam view is not allowed for any reason (not even during the break).

That is not true.One of the main reasons to have breaks is that you can go to the washroom. Otherwise, proctors would be forced to have an ugly sight of applicants getting creative to meet physiological needs.

Thanks for sharing your insight. You mentioned taking food breaks, and you seem to be suggesting one would be in their own home during that period, given the proximity to food and coffee. Are the PMP exams as of Sep 2021 being conducted remotely, ie at home on your computer, vs proctored? Are there options to pick between these?

Do you have to have a Bachelor's degree to get an entry level job in project management if you obtain your CAPM? I've taken Udemy courses and studied Project Management sources as well as the PMBOK. But I don't have direct industry experience. This is all theoretical knowledge, and I'm doubting whether I really understand the application of all of this knowledge. I'm worried that my lack of experience and lack of degree means my effort to learn project management is in vain. Do I have to get a degree or can I negotiate my way around a degree on PM job interviews?

You don't have to take the entire 10 minutes of the break, you can take less. It is a hard stop after 60 questions. The exam has the breaks within it.

Does the timer count down during the exam or count up from zero? Also does the exam use the hour format or minutes format? For example if it the minutes format and its counting down. Using your 80-80-70 rule should look like this. End of 60 questions = 150min left 10 min break End of 120 questions = 70 min left 10 min break End of 80 questions = 0min left
