Dear John, As a Physical Therapist, I have grown very fond of your videos. Your explanation and execution of manual therapy techniques are superb and the best I have yet to come across. We are privileged to have you as such a readily available reference. A big thanks for what you do. Dan J, PT Tucson, AZ USA
Hi Mr John , really appreciate on your video , i was a physiotherapist and some times your method teaching is easiest for me to explained to my patient. Thanks
Please come to Texas and teach this technique. My former doctor in Maine, Dr. John Gallagher, was a master of this and he used to get me free of pain, level at hips and shoulders, and walking pain free with that very technique alone. Five chiropractors so far in Teas between Denton and Austin and NOBODY can do this! One Chiropractor ended up referring me to the ER for muscle spasm relief after her various twists and manipulations. In Aubrey, I swear the Chiropractor was an Equine Chiropractor as I had to grasp fimly on the table to keep from being dragged off. I am looking at this video at 5AM to do research after a pain induced sleepless night due to the Chirpractor that did everything but this technique, though he tried it poorly on one side only. USing pelvic drop as a start to the treatment seemed contra indicated and was incredibly painful.
Very good video John ~ I’ve been going to my chiropractor to treat post herpetic nerve pain from shingles about a year ago. The painful shingles was on the top of left bum cheek/tailbone area. Then to make matters worse, I recently fell on the ice with my left knee facing to the right with all my weight upon impact... so that twerked my left knee, as well as left lower back. X-rays shows L4/L5 compression, subluxation, ? There was another word he used? Degeneration? The L4/L5 has slipped? And also SI greatly affected. My chiropractor uses the activator method, which works fine with my fibromyalgia. I did ask him to do a manual manipulation adjustment ~ just like you showed, and oh my word, much better relief from excruciating pain and more mobility. Going back today and will ask for this technique again! I’m seeing more progress with manual adjustments. I have 2 chiropractors. One that just does manual, the other one does activators, and manual upon request.. plus has a lazer machine that I use each time on my post shingles and fall areas. Which do you think works better? The manual or the activator, or the use of both in a given chiropractic session?
I am an osteopath and personally dont use any machines or the activator as i use my hands only to do all of the manual therapy techniques and that works well for me, regards JG
Hi John, are you based in wales mate ? If so, which part ? Id love to book an appointment as my back has gone again ! Suffered with my lower discs for years on and off, L3/4 L4/5 and L5/S1. My initially slipped them when i tried lifting a huge roll of marmoleum flooring, going back 16 years ago and my back has never been right since. Do you do an xray / MRI as part of your treatment mate ? Any feedback would be much appreciated.
Fist of all I want to thank you for the content and the work you are doing. And second I am interested if it can bring some herinated discs back to the normal and healthy position? Namly I have a mass prolapse from L3-S1 and I am in pain for more than a year now. My first appointment at a chiropractic is end of this month ( in Germany, so Idk it they work the same here like in the US).. 😃
Hello John. I'd appreciate if you will answer my question. Xray shows that my L4 protruding toward my back 3/16 inch. This causes me sciatica pain bilat, mostly left hip and numbness on left leg especially left thigh.I am currently seeing a local chiropractor for 6 treatments so far. Pain is improved but I don't think the bone moved back even a tiny. This chiropractor has seen my xray. He has not done the way you showed on this video, which I think that is what I need.I want my L4 bone to return to its natural position. Pls give your opinion.Thx.

Hi John, you are the man in the know. If the glutes are the antagonist muscles of the psoas, is that on the ipsilatoral or contra lateral side?. If there is a weak right glute and a hypertonic left would you also expect to find a similar pattern in the psoas and or iliacus. I'm hoping this is the cause if SIJ pain in running only as I can't find anything else!. Thank you for your help. Debbie
Sir is it possible to reverse the slippage of l5 s1 grade 1 with the help of chiropractor . My age is 15 . So is it possible that i can recover from this condition permanently
Hi Dr.Gibbons I have really bad lower back pain starting at my tail bone going down my right leg and into my foot. I have been to two physios which hasnt helped unfortunately and also had a spinal cortisone injection which brought no relief. I have had an MRI scan and this is what it said : Pertinent finding is of a right paracentral disc protrusion at L5-S1, which is impinging on the origin of the right S1 nerve root. Central anulus tear and minimal associated disc bulging at L4-5 without neural impingement. I was wondering if you think that a chiropractor would help with this? I am in agony every day and am desperate.
I run a courses and here is the link, you have to be a qualified therapist to attend though.... www.johngibbonsbodymaster.co.uk/spinal-manipulation-mobilisation-technique-masterclass/
Hi John, I would like to get insurance for my qualifications I did to you 2 years ago. Can you advise me please which is the best company to be insured to? Thank you Regards, Cristina
Tricky question to answer - if your patient has a lot of pain and the disc prolapse is already present then potentially you shouldn't make them worse and the manipulation might actually help a little. regards jG
Can be a bit of both if honest as many times I have done this technique has helped straight away and other times the patient needs more treatments - regards JG
Were you massaging her with your head? Because your hair is is all over the place. Can’t pay attention to what you’re doing because I keep looking at your hair.
