Man, you are a life savior. My Tesla model S had a jam due to a metal button pin my friend put in there preventing the latch from disengaging. This trick allowed me to open the compartment. You earned my like a sub.

Worked great for me!!! Imagine insurance card and registration is in the glove box and you get pulled over! phew! I had tried taking off the casing all around first trying to see the mechanism to no avail.
Worked great! My MCU is toast, the screen is blank and of course the glovebox requires a PIN to open. Not good when I'm trying to take off this weekend and the car ate my wallet. Thank you!
I have Tesla Model X 2017. And facing exactly the same problem. I have already requested the online Service on Tesla app. NOt sure How much they will charge me. I hope it works. I will let you know here. Dated: 25-06-2024
It worked 💯💯✅✅✅✅✅✅ . . . . . Now the only thing is that I would still have to request the mobile serve on Tesla App to have it open with the button . I cannot always do this excercise.
