Thank you ... I was able to safely remove and relocate a 4 foot x 8 foot 1 inch thick slate table .. plus recover rails and table with new cloth due to your precise videos.

Many ways you can do this and your illustration definitely works. I just used 2 pieces of string line one from foot to head of the table (middle markers) and one across from the middle side markers. The intersection of the lines is dead on. If you are doing it this way by yourself, you just attach a metal washer/Butter knife etc. or anything with a little weight on each end of the string that would hang down and keep the string relatively taught. Install the foot and head string first as this line will have more sag spanning a longer distance and will not impede the cross section line which will sit over top of the head line.. Whatever each way works just as well. Your videos I believe are the best on the net regarding billiard tables. In fact, I recovered my table and was apprehensive to say the least until I discovered your video instructions, and it came out perfect. I had to stop the video maybe just short of a thousand times and rewind to install EXACTLY as you instructed. The money I saved and will save will help purchase that new Mcdermott stick I have been eyeing. I now know I can recover my table in the future without alarm. I thank you for your continued effort to help those who need it most such as me. ;-)

These videos by Fix Savers are very good. Full of detail in a cool calm vopice. Now a question: if I am reusing a snooker cloth how do I ensure the lines and spots are correct considering the stretching process required to reinstall?

Thank you, that's very much appreciated! With regards to re-using a cloth, yes indeed that can be done. HOWEVER it's not easy, for exactly the reasons you have outlined (stretching process). This is made worse by the number of markings a cloth may have, for example for pool it may have none, or just one line, but for snooker it will have a lot more in various places. A good table technician would be able to do this, but it's not an easy undertaking even for those with lot of experience. As a DIY job, definitely doable but expect it to take a lot longer than a fresh cloth install, and expect a lot of swearing along the way!!! And how perfect will it be compared to how it was before? Would a new cloth be easier overall? What I’ve been curious about is the baulk line pencils they use to mark out snooker table lines and spots. Would you recommend those at all or just stick with sharpie? I’d like it to be as “official” as I can make it, if that makes sense

Yes, it's entirely down to personal choice really. The ultra-fine sharpie does give a really nice pin-sharp line, generally thinner than you would get with a baulk line pencil. That would all be down to personal choice. The black is a nice look in the super-fine marker and quite subtle. White or silver would likely stand out a little more but still look good. Try it on a scrap/offcut of cloth first to make sure you like the look before you commit. Well, for a standard 9ft pool table your playing surface should measure 100"x50" between the cushions. Provided that it so, then the long length is divided into 8 which equals 12.5" between sights (markers). So you could measure 25" from the rear cushion face and that's where the line should be (this is also where the second sets of sights would be on the side rails). Just curious, why don't you fill in the spots while the washer is in place, seems a bit more safe should your hand develop a small tremor while marking or you drop the marker.

Yes, you absolutely could do it that way. I have a pretty steady hand so I'm comfortable filling the spot in with the washer out of the way. But either option works 👍

Well, the theory is always the same regardless of the table size. So those second sights (targets) on the rails are set half way between the inside edge of the end cushion and the centre of the table (or centre pocket). So, example a 9ft table is 100 inches long and 50 inches wide on the playing surface measure between cushions. So, half the table is 50x50 inches. Half of 50 inches is 25 inches. So, the second set of sights (targets) will be set 25 inches from the inside of the end cushion, and also 25 inches from the centre of the centre pocket. You can also look at it as just being 25% of the total length if where it should be (rather than half of half, it's the same!) And the line goes between the second set of sights (so, at at 25" for our 9ft table). So for a smaller table, jsut take the playing surface length and divide into four, that's where the line should be from the inside edge of the head cushion. Hey there! The markings are all based off of the target markers on the rails, so in theory it does not matter the size of the table, the markings will alway be in the same place. This is easier it is 23" from the center diamond at the end of the table and 23" from the first diamond on the side of the table...

@@rebeccagordon7446 It's definitely 1/4. Is this for standard USA Pool? Maybe you are thinking of snooker? For USA pool the line is placed between the second sets of sights from the head rail, which is 1/4 of the playing surface. Hope that helps!
