We have to support each other that's the only way we are going to make it. Subscribe so we can get to where we need to be. much love from East Atlanta🙏 -Joni Dec #FUNKGANG
This one got me right in the soul haha. I'm a gear head and tend to buy soooo much crap to make whatever I'm doing better, forgetting that I need it to make me money
I watched this eight months ago when I uploaded my first video. I had 13 subs and said I'd be consistent. I'm here to update. I now have 1.4k subs and have been releasing a song a week for 4 months now, the growth and support has been incredible. I will manifest my dreams through dedication and hopefully it will inspire others to do the same.
It’s all genuine up till I start marketing. Then it becomes about validation. Then I have to go to war with that desire to be validated with my belief in myself. But it’s hard to find a good artist who isn’t internally conflicted.
This whole thing takes me back to what i went through, how i quit my job and moved back to my country just to pursue music. I wasted a year until i realized how off balance i was. I gave up my source of income , i could sit and do music as a hobby but never be able to make them into full products because i had nothing to invest. So for me, finding the right balance between both seems to be working now. I think i would love to watch if you did a video on investment, i bet you can talk a lot from your experience and it can make a lot of people realize how important investment is when it comes to pursuing your dreams. That was a great video with a great advise, thanks man
It's incredible to look at how many amazing creators have taken their craft so seriously and have the fire inside not to give up even when times get hard. I appreciate your comment and will definitely put your idea on the list of upcoming videos. Thank you!
Thanks Adam, first I’m just checking in to let you know that I often watch your videos. I even watch them all the way through! Imagine that! Second, this vid really resonates with me. I’m 61 years old. I worked in the in the entertainment industry for over 40 years. Within that industry I had a few different careers. Some years my income might have mostly come from only one of those careers. Other years my income was coming from all of my different professional endeavors. When I was in high school I made the career choice of being a songwriter/recording artist and performer. I didn’t have a clue about record deals, publishing, etc. I did know how to run a band and get paid. I also had balls of steel. The other thing I knew was that I would have to come up with any way possible of getting paid with my abilities. I played guitar, but I was a better drummer. However, I was an even better singer. I also had an extensive theatre background. My mom was a dancer in ballets, Broadway and movies. My dad was a second generation stagehand and his entire family were stagehands. So, I was dancing since I learned to walk and I was backstage on Broadway since my earliest memories. Basically I could sing, dance and act and I understood how that industry worked, both onstage and backstage. I was also totally obsessed with how records were made and the how and why my favorite were who they were. Ok, so I survived and even thrived. My life was an insane roller coaster ride took me so many places I’d never have imagined and I don’t mean I got rich. Hell to the no. I didn’t get a big record deal and become a star. But, I am so rich in experience that I wouldn’t change a thing. I got to do every single thing I dreamed of doing, just not the way I pictured it as a kid. The last 20+ years for me was largely surrounding audio engineering/recording. I was still writing, recording and performing a little, but not much. Ninety five percent of my energies were spent bringing other people’s art to fruition. I retired from NYC’s stagehands union last year with a modest pension and I’m working on my music in my home studio. The life change is fucking huge and I still feel like I’m tripping. A big adjustment is regarding why I now make my art. I spent a lifetime doing it largely to get paid and survive. Now I don’t give a fuck and it’s more challenging than ever because I can do whatever I want. The record industry provided hard boundaries regarding creativity and what was “singable.” A blank canvas with no rules can be very daunting. It can also be very exhilarating. I’m not young anymore and I was trained in an industry that isn’t interested in anything that isn’t young and great to look at. I’m doing some pretty cool work, but I’m a little self-conscious as to how to just be myself publicly regarding my music. I always had to care completely about self presentation. I want to follow through on delivering good music to anyone who will listen. It means presenting the real me, white hair, wrinkles and all. I’m ready to do it and I’m developing my roadmap, so I’m not an idiot doing idiotic things. Thanks for helping out. Your work has great value and I so appreciate your hard work, your passion and commitment. You always get me thinking. Peace & love -Tim
I've been at this for over 20 years. Thanks for the inspiration. It's easy to lose sight of what the music is actually there for, to carry a message. This is great!
THIS WAS ABSOLUTELY SUPER HELPFUL! Ive been struggling for about 8 years trying to get noticed and whatnot; went to college for music technology and business and Im still a bedroom DJ/producer. Ive gone and done random events, I try to market online but I didn't know what I was doing wrong. this was the kick in the ass I needed.. Thanks Adam Ivy! Keep posting for us to learn from you!
This video actually opened my eyes and gave me a lot of insights as to how to get the best out of myself likewise my brand. I'll try these methods as they only seem logical. I'm from Jamaica BTW😊🇯🇲, huge fan bro👍🏼
Its true what you say about people that crap music get sign cause they have followers but they get sign and put on the shelf verry fast when they have sign ....its the sad reality thank you for all your advice you do a reat job with this channel 👍
Well! I was recording 20 years ago, I did stop because I meet my now wife, Im 50 years old, hey! is never to late. Im back now, Im latin hip hop artist...Thanks for your video I enjoy it very much.
I started playing piano when I was 5 years old. I always had fun making things up on the piano, but they were never really anything more than riffs. When I was 11, I decided I might want to try and write some full pieces for piano. Of course, they weren't great. But at the time I was very proud of what I had done. One day, I figured I'd try and write something with multiple instruments other than piano. Once I did, I continued to do so. Gradually I began to love composing things more and more. Now I'm 16, and have wanted to be a film composer since I was 13. I'm taking all the steps I can to get myself out there. Thanks you for all of your videos Adam. They really give me knowledge regarding how to promote myself and my music.
@Zdub717 I feel you on that. For so long I've heard how my music sounds like this or that producer. Now people know when they hear a zigg beat and they make sure to give me my props. It takes time but you still gotta try. I obviously been doing things wrong tho lol. Keep pushing bro
I WILL B CONSISTENT BRO All I do is work , promote n make music n I'm definitely built 4 it. Imll ramp up. I use BattleMe app , ig n RU-vid. I try to drop a song a week. I save the unreleased material invade I fix later. I learned slot so far n been rapping for years. Feel I'm ready! This is wut ineed
Hi Adam, thank you for the awesome video, great information and presentation. I will definitely check out more of your stuff. I have been on RU-vid for about 5 years uploading my Sax Music and I have just recently started uploading a few times a week. I am a small Channel, but I have my own unique Sound and Style :) I was wondering as a Musician, that uploads mostly Covers and some Originals, is it necessary to have myself introducing and describing the song, or just go right into playing? I see most solo instrumentalist don't "talk" very much on video, and neither do I. I would love to know your thoughts on that. Thank you and keep up the amazing videos!
I am 72 … I’ve been doing music since 1965. I record and produce my stuff now by myself using friends who are very talented. I’m turning out cool stuff, but I’m overwhelmed with the modern distribution. Help ! Thanks, Todd Reece aka Sodboy
Also a thing I love doing, to build a strong fan base, you need to learn to love the people that listen to your music. They take their time to listen to your music. Take time and build bonds while you're up and coming. One day when you're successful, those are the exact same People who will know where you came from and they will continue to support you all the way 💯💕
"Use what you have until what you have pays for what you want." I literally screamed when I heard that. You are dropping some real perls of wisdom here!
Never put all of your eggs in one basket. When I was in my early 20s, you couldn't tell me that I would not be a hip-hop superstar. I pursued it for years with all my might but it did not happen. In my mid-30s, I enrolled in college and took up a major completely unrelated to music.. I'm so glad that I did. Some of the people in my youth peer group did reach stardom but it was short lived. The public's taste is fickle. Now they are in struggle mode. I want leave you with a suggestion that I laughed at when people shared it with me as a young man. Have a fall back plan.
Appreciate your passion Adam! I just started managing a talented musician who needed some help and this videos was insightful and inspiring. Thanks bro. Gonna go watch more
That was Awesome Brother, couldn't have come at a better time! I use to just post my video for years then leave them, what a big mistake, I have now just started to make myself a brand and today I made my first branding video and then I found this video to confirm what I am doing is good!
Thankzzz Adam that's so true I'm glad to have you giving us such valuable tips and top infos I'm a singer and song writer ( reggae ) artist...ill follow them as good as i can ... blessed ... ..Julia. ..
I dont know much about the Modren music world, so I'm depending on you, and I ve chosen you, because you makes more sense to me, I'm not a young man, but I live and feel very good about myself,I've been in this business for years , but I sing, write, and it seems I'm not giving up, so in other words, i need your advice, and I love what I'm hearing from you.
I grew up through the 60s and 70s before all this. The music and artists were so varied and pioneering and inspiring. The social media and branding age may be today's pragmatism but it's beyond depressing how much the resulting shallow media centric corporate minded computer literate mass market "product" of today absolutely sucks
@@WillMaskellTaylor Yes I agree and Motown was the perfect brand machine, however the enormous talent was undeniably behind the branding. These days, branding becomes an end in itself -the famous for being famous paradigm, where any actual ability to sing, write or play becomes not just secondary but in many cases irrelevant. Hence the enormous dumbing down of music and particularly lyrics. Elvis and the Beatles were genuine artists controlled by svengali management. These days anyone cute with a media savvy image qualifies as an "artist" even if the music is garbage
@@martinheath5947 I'd agree to extent, TBH though, I think you could easily compare Elvis to artists today as you described. He was an extremely handsome man who danced rather provocatively. Sure enough he could and was talented, but many chart topping artists have the same amount of talent such as Justin Beiber, who actually can sing and write. I do think that nowadays however, there are countless artists who are really not that's special or talented who are all about branding. I think this will die out soon because people don't buy music anymore, meaning that live gigs are the key to making it. If you can't entertain, if you're crap live it will show. So you do need talent to make it. The Britney Spears and autotune artists are dying out because of this.
Oh the old days... How things have changed.... THATS THE POINT. Things have changed. Its easier to break into the market today than it ever has been. What hasn't changed is that if you want to win you have to play the game. You just have to know the game you're playing.
I am commenting so I can put my dreams out there. I manifest that one day, I can achieve my dreams and become successful in music...I believe that I can become one of the best singers/musicians out there...I am commenting here now so I can put my thoughts and dreams down and out into the world so that I can believe in myself and believe in succeeding in my dreams...it will happen.....
I want to make heavy dubstep tracks by I don't have a computer and don't know how to use fl studio. I'm saving money to buy the basic stuff I need, even though right now I don't know and have nothing... I want to be big and i promise I'll be big. The last part of the video made me cry. I'm having a hard time right now maybe that's why. I love this man even though I don't know him. I have depression but I want to break out of it, so I'll try my hardest to be what I want to be.
Bots will ruin a lot of social platforms in a way, but keep doing what works. Hashtag research and using them in the right way really does help. Thanks for the comment!
Hey man, I love your content. I've learned a lot from you. You're straight forward, down to earth, speak motivation and truth and I really enjoy your vibes :) I will be consistent!
"Inconsistency is a brand killer"believe I've noticed this myself.havent done any music or anything towards my musical career for 2 and half years due to depression and drug addiction. And now is when im getting back into it. Dont want to live regreting things i should have done and didn't. I WILL BE CONSISTENT
I see you have mentioned Gary Vee a lot. Out of a lot of people who make motivational content, I find a lot of them aren't genuine enough for me to consume that content. It feels framed and edited to perfection along with a background emotional score to make it sound inspiring/motivational and I don't enjoy such content and thus dont find value in them. I was glad I found Gary Vee and I'm glad I found this channel too! Appreciate your advice. It has been a while since I saw you and I'm happy you're making videos again!
Man joe 💯 I really believe in myself to accomplish what I got planned I been thru a lot I went from following to a leader it’s only going to get better have faith believe trust in yourself it’s your life take it by the hand chase your dreams don’t give up Ian even started yet already pumped if I can turn my whole life around u can too good luck to everyone looking at this I believe in u 💯✅
Consistency. I love the fact that I have a good paying job on the line along with a beautifull, loyal and supportive queen next to me that keep me consistent when I slack the slightest bit!💯✔
I have been posting once a day every day of the week other than Sundays for a few months now. This started in March when I dropped my first single. Since then, I've dropped a song a month. To anyone reading this, I promise if you find a routine it will boost your confidence greatly. I feel better than ever even doe I'm still not getting fans/views. Just keep hustling ya'll and THANK YOU ADAM
I’ve been consistent with my beat uploads and already see a difference in increased growth before I watched this video, now I just got to do that on Instagram, thanks for the advice🙏🏻
