Yup, same thing happened to me... I am pretty sure that I've been mashing it way faster than "inputting" forward dash and then F2 so I have no clue how this works.
For anyone struggling mid game: Running is not activated by inputing three forwards, never has been. The game is just looking for 1 forward after a dash. You can buffer your dashes, so if you have dash buffered while executing your move, you can then input the final forward when it's available for instant while running. It's important to note the dash and not just FFF, because you can also delay the forward after a dash, giving the appearance of an instant WR in neutral
Yeah it the same thing I do during Lei's backturn cancels, during that motion you can input the f,f,f multiple times storing it so by the time Wulong is finish with his cancel he uses Tiger Swat (his running move) from where he turn to for +8 on block..LOL
The speed of the f,f,f inputs doesn't matter so much: the most important thing is to press the face button input (e.g. the "2" of a wr2) as quickly after the last f as possible -- that's the one thing that has to be truly "instant". The rhythm doesn't matter much either: you can use both f,n,ff or ff,n,f. IMO, a really good way to practice iwr moves is to dash continuously into your opponent's face in practice mode (just keep pressing ff,ff,ff,ff at point-blank range), and then add the wr attack randomly in the middle of the sequence. Vary the length and practice doing both long and short sequences (kind of like wavedash practice, but with f,n,f,f, inputs instead of f,n,d,df inputs). This will give you endurance and control, as well as help you get a feel for the rhythm. You'll see JDCR do this in matches while playing Dragunov: he'll do an iwr2 out of multiple point-blank forward dashes. He gets enormous pressure out of this because it allows him to control the timing and keep his opponent guessing as to when it's going to come out (again, almost exactly like a wavedash).
Good advice! But for me it only works when I press f+2 at the same time. It shouldn't work if you do it after the last f like you mentioned. But maybe there is a 1 frame window? Could be possible. Claudio needs it to. :)
@@maddinkn I would have said f+2 myself, because honestly, in terms of feel/rhythm I treat iwr moves kind of like an electric (f,n,f,f+2 instead of f,n,d,df+2), but someone in the comments below (Crysack) mentioned that there has to be a 1 frame window in between the last f and the attack input (which I didn't know), so apparently it's not quite f+2.
@@Guitar-Dog ya but probably nobody cares what u think is a competition bout being first with a tech that is far older than any of us.. But if that makes u happy, sure, u explained this, twas ur idea, btw the wheel would be another great idea for you to invent .....thought im the stoner..
This video kind of misses the key rule for iWR. The rhythm of the forward inputs doesn't matter at all and you can actually be quite slow. The thing that everyone misses is that the correct input isn't actually fff+2+4. Shining wizard comes out of a running stance. As such, there has to be a one frame gap (at least) between the third forward and the 2+4. So, at point blank range, the input is closer to f, f, f~f+2+4. If you push the third f and 2+4 on the same frame, you will get AK's regular throw. There's a TOOLASSISTED twitter post from a while back which demonstrates all of this.
?They implemented frame data from the start of tekken series its integral the game.Whay you meant is they made you pay for the ingame frame data overlay...but yeh
@@Guitar-Dog none of these are the correct way. Holding down to crouch then standing is slower than iws, and doing a crouch dash then letting go of the stick only works if your character doesn't have a ws move of the corresponding button. Iws input for most moves is d,df,n,button. On pad I like to use the base of my thumb to hit d, then the rest of my thumb to hit df, release my thumb then button. At least on p1 side
@@Guitar-Dog you won't get the iWS2 that way for characters that have wavedash. What you may want to do is to do B+button after the d/f to get WS moves consistently. F,n,qcf+button works for ws4 and 3,1(for some) but not ws2 so you have to cancel the crouch.
Dude this is amazing. I don’t have much time to practice, so today I am focusing on throw breaks, movement and defensive options, and IWR moves...this video actually helps...just breaking the inputs into two sections and performing quickly helps. Thanks TMM
one other thing that helped me if I may add, the 3rd f cannot be inputted on the same frame as your attack buttons, the iWR move wont come out. So in my mind I similarly think of it as a dash followed by F+2 but also more like F~2. So f, f, f~2 making sure the attack inputs are slightly behind the movement input.
Maaaaan this worrksss... been trying it for months ...and after watching this ... i did it on the first attempts i tried it .......now for wavedash mastery 😁😁😁
The Main Man SWE. Thank you! This is the exact explanation I am waiting for 5 years thank you! Thank so much! For me, this the best explanation about IWR or instant while running move. Keep safe and God bless. More power!
I think you explained this before and it's what allowed me to understand it. I also managed to pass on the knowledge to someone else at a tournament. Getting iWR 3s with the Mishimas is a good pressure tool. I'm still unable to do it at absolute point blank, though. I need about a half-dash's worth of space to be consistent with it.
Learning King's instant moves is one of the most important things to learn as a King player, maybe even the most important. Also, fix King's goddamned hitboxes/hurtbox Holy Harada!🙏🏼 #Tekken7 #MightyHarada #FixKing
Agreed! King's hitboxes are completed broken. Saw it in your last night's live stream also. It was ironic that when you were talking about King's broken hitboxes, at the exact time your jab legit passed through the opponents face. So funny but, very sad that they sleep on King like this. Love your King, bruh!❤️🔥 #FixKing
Agreed man, i too experienced it while playing against your king(though I was one the one your jabs passed through lol😂) , it has been happening since a long time but it actually became more noticeable after the release of season pass 3.#FixKing #MightyHarada #Tekken7
Out of all youtubers I've the guide on ak ISW even i shouldn't be learning that level of execution rn I can almost consistently do it thanks to mainman guide this method actually helped a lot
that explanation on how you see it mentally is so helpful, I am a new player and I managed to do instant while running russian assault on dragunov immediately after this tutorial
@@harlots_hello8734 well yeah, but on controller i don't get the second input fast enough. That's the entire issue, the fact he starts running before i can input the f2. On stick it's easier for me, but I prefer controller in most other scenarios so..
Pressing fff can also allow ultimate tackle to activate some what earlier too. So as for Marduks ultimate tackle it can be a setup after a specific combo.
I really enjoyed yur last video and thank yu for sharing about yur life. I kno im not the only one. I dnt wanna tell yu how to do what yu do but I'm sure yur views would enjoy more content that touches on topics like that.
I dislike how much disinformation there is on this topic. To get an instant while runing in point blank range what matters is doing ff and the third f has to be hold for 1 frame and then you press the attack button. It is almost a justframe.
Any chance ya could do a video on micro dashing and crouch canceling? Thanks TMM, I've been looking for answers for this for ageees. Keep up the good work!
I play on keyboard so I can just mash forward 3 times but it still fatigues my fingers quite a lot even though I play osu at a speed that I wouldn't expect it to be so hard to do instant running moves. Nothing a little practice mode can't fix
It's very doable in tekken 5 I practiced this if u just practice ff then hit your characters f and their initial string you can get the timing down if that's your gameplay when playing King or characters u wanna pressure with
sorry TMM but the instant while running is done by this input no matter how close you are F (you can delay up to 4 frames) F (you can delay up to 4 frames) F (must be 1 frame of delay) then input your running move command so for dragunov it should be like this (F 4 frames F 4 frames F 1 frame 2) if you press the last F and the button at the same time it will never work i made a video on it using a macro to test the input delay right here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Ezg8CsPGeQQ.html
U might have tested it on a macro but I play pad and u have to hit the last f with the corresponding move at the same time in 1 frame last f u have only 1 frame you are correct on that but u need to hit f and the corresponding move at the same time it has to be in that exact frame it's not like TJU.
That's just more complicated than it has to be brew. I've learnt it as just press it fast and f+corosponding button(s) and my muscle memory seems to get it pretty consistent. Steves works as f f F+2 which I use to pressure point blank. We different :)
@@DeadlyDAssassin you feel like you are hitting them at the same time i do too but in reality it's not cause the game is more accurate than human brains so the information has to be correct and then let the people practice the right way if you press them at the same exact frame the game will never give you an instant running move tht is why when you input instant running move in commsnd history it shows you 4 F instead of 3
@@mr.almezeini647 it's funny because I tried all variations for that since I've been playing this game for 20yrs I thought the same thing but it has to be at the exact frame sometimes the game reads as 4 then f after in command history but the point still stands its hit at the exact frame I used to practice this back in tekken 5 and in tag2 if u still play those or have been playing tekken 7 if you try to hit the last f u have to hit it at that 1 f or else u will get kings neutral grabs kick or magic 4
@@DeadlyDAssassin i know it feels like they are at the same time but 1 frame is 16ms so that is very hard to notice but it is still the frame data and game logic that dectates what works or not
