I have been a fan of your videos for a long long time, I still remember my first stupid comment to you you showed us how to fix jeans on a sewing machine and I not understanding thought wouldn't that just make a giant pucker in a big hole... And instead of getting frustrated with me, you took the time to explain, Something you'd actually already made completely clear in the video had I paid better attention. Thank you for that.

That's all some of us need. Because it's not only you. Stress can cause brain blockage for us to focus on things that are clear. It's ok pray over and God will see you through.

That is a seriously cool foot...thank you for showing that. My machine is from 1979 and I've only added one foot (1/4") plus some accessory types like walking foot and bound buttonhole kit. That foot will give a much better result with my overcast stitches.

Thank you for sharing this tutorial on how to master the overcast stitch for perfect seam finishes. I recently learned this technique from professor pincushion, and it has made a huge difference in the quality of my sewing projects. I appreciate you taking the time to demonstrate the process and provide helpful tips. Keep up the great work!

Thank you so much! I’ve only now realized my overcasting presser foot is broken and that’s a contributing factor why I was having such a hard time using it. I’m a new sewist and already appreciate your insight!

Don't you need to set the length and width of the stitch? And what about the tension?

My bobbin thread keeps coming on top wven when I adjust the tension. I cant figure out what I'm doing wrong.

What is the stich on most underwear and shirts that have a double straight line on the outside and a zigzag on the back? It stretches and looks perfectly done on most store bought shirts...I need to learn to do that.

I think you're referring to the double overlock stitch. Some machines can do this stitch as well. On a sewing machine, it's a zig zag stitch between two straight stitches.

A twin needle gives this effect. Double straight line on top, zig zag on the underside.

Oooh I was wondering what that stitch did! I’ve never gone past the zig-zag stitches on my machine.

I like it more than the zig zag stitch. :)

thanks for your video and little chart on what stitches go with the fabric. So no back stitching with these stitches when starting and ending the seam?

Is this something I can do with a beginners sewing machine?

As long as your machine has one of the overcast stitches shown in the video, then yes you can. One of my beginner friendly machines offers it. :)
