In this video I want to show you how I can get good measurements with my digital calipers. I will cover measuring an outside dimension, an inside dimension and depth/height of a step. I tried to keep the video short but also mention everything that is important. I hope you like it and have fun watching it!
One thing I want to notice so I don't have to answer that multiple times. I show in this video how "I" can get gut measurements. That does not mean, that your way to measure was wrong or my way is the only right one. Friendly and constructive comments wit more tips are welcome!

Awesome! Juste a note: when you can't use the calipers in a direction where you can see the measure directly, you can just press the "zero" button when it's placed well. Then you don't have to take any special care when removing the calipers. To read the measure, you'll just have to put it to its starting position, the measure will be marked (but with the minus sign of course).

Just wanted to say that I do enjoy your video and hope to see more in the feature! Great to see more CNC people from Europe and not only USA. Best regards from Norway

Remember that the digits can indicate more precision than the underlying sensor strip in the calipers. More of an issue w/inches than mm, but that can leave you off by one or two on the last digit. Also, the offset notch on the depth measurement bar is to avoid error if there's a bottom radius.

for measuring with the rod, use the short side to align, because it gives you more overhang. Also the rod is more stiff in that direction and is less likely to bend

I am very interested in calipers and how to get accurate measurement of watch crystals. Experts recommend taking a few measurements to be sure. But if the arms of the caliper can only measure the diameter, then why aren't all the measurements exactly the same? (This question is because I am having difficulty with using the calipers.) Thanks!

I have been an Operator going on 3 years and I still have a lot of trouble measuring the diameter of a hole on my parts. You are supposed to take half of the bit size and subtract that from the diameter to get the correct measurement is what I have been shown and I just don't understand that.

Sounds like the process used when figuring out the hole placement in the part? Is that what you're trying to find there ?

Every time I try to measure something, I don't get like 1 inch 2 inches I get 0.888 or something like that how am I supposed to know how to translate these numbers? I measure for pipes and things and they don't sell 0.888 size pipes.

0.875 is 7/8 of an inch , maybe get a decimal to fraction conversion chart would probably be your best bet
