Melting any glycerin based soap is easy. You can melt a shaving soap to fit in any bowl or mug you like with these simple steps in the video. Yes, you could melt soap in a microwave faster, but we recommend melting over stovetop and boiling water. Even though this method has more steps, your soap won't be ruined because of unforeseen consequences of leaving it in microwave for too long. Over the stovetop, you can keep an eye on the soap and know exactly when to turn off the burner. Heating anything in the microwave feels like a guessing game, why take the risk? Also, since microwave heats with radiation, who knows what properties of soaps become affected by it. Just go with this method to melt your soap, you won't regret it.

It’s easy to melt a shaving soap man! Try a Shea butter dove soap to melt 😆 my soap is on the oven SAME WAY since an hour 😆

Didn't work for me. I followed the same steps and had it boil for over an hour and a half. It became more pliable but not melted.

This method is pretty limited though, right? Like you couldn’t do this with triple-milled or tallow-based soaps, as far as I know. I believe it’s restricted to melt-and-pour glycerine bases. Can you clarify? Thanks!

Confirmed. I tried it with a quad-milled soap and it didn't melt a *drop*.

I put my tallow soap in the microwave. It didn't melt, but it became soft and hot enough to push it in the mug and fit it there. Could this possibly damage the effectiveness of the soap and the way it should work? I've tried it once, it needs quite a bit of water to make a nice lather. But, I had a decent shave! Could the microwave dehydrate the soap?

Curious, would it be bad to use a microwave? Instead of the stovetop.

It's not bad, you just have to be super careful not to overdue, especially because microwaves aren't all equal in power and the way it heats. I personally don't like microwaving because I can't predict if soap is evenly melting, and if not, are the parts that started melting first getting over cooked? I mean I reheat pizza in toaster-oven because microwave makes it all soggy... does that make sense? It could be a personal preference thing.

Will this work with a Arko Stick?
@menssoapcompany1262
@menssoapcompany1262 5 лет назад
Unfortunately no, Mike. Arko Stick is based on tallow, which unlike glycerin, it does not melt and pour easily. You could actually burn it trying to do so. Some do use a cheese grater and compact it down to a bowl, which may work for you.

@@mikerose51 Hello, it is very easy to shape the arko soap (stick) by hand and fit it into the bowl of your choice, hope it will help

Two days before use? That's such a turn off. In a society like ours, that wants IMMEDIATE RESULTS & INSTANT SATISFACTION, your recommendation is simply unacceptable.

I said the above tongue in cheek, in case it doesn't read that way 😉
