You can, you can make it so they only target a certain block that is coloured blue, that way they don't go for other missiles. I think if there is a player it can target it will always go for the player instead of random blocks.
Let's not gatekeep the game for no reason. Also, missiles that are able to track targets are nearly impossible without mods, ask anyone who has been playing the game for a while :p
DLC shouldn't interfere, if you have any problems with the mod you should report it in the modding threat under the post for the mod in the official discord server for trailmakers.
Trial and error, use torque, strength on 100, lead target enabled, z-lock on, detection cone on 120, use a thruster with enough power, I like a tiny jet on 300, and use fins on the end it helps a lot.
If you search just "missile" it should pop up. Jess has recently updated it, maybe it was down for a moment and you got unlucky, I am not sure, can you try again? If it doesn't work you can try asking Jess in the trailmakers discord server under the mods channel and then custom missile mod.
