i’m so so glad i found this video and ur channel!! ive been feeling bad lately that i dress in different aesthetics every day depending on how i feel, but now i’m realizing it’s ok to have a unique blend of aesthetics :)) thank uuu!!
Glad you liked it!! Yess definitely, sometimes i feel that way too but i think it’s totally fine to just wear what you want and experiment with diff aesthetics 🥰
Mixing aesthetics always came naturally to me because I couldn't afford more than a few pieces for any aesthetic when I was a teen (or i wasnt allowed to wear the edgier pieces) so I had no choice but to mix what i had. This used to suck because I never felt like I looked as emo/goth as I wanted to back in 2009-2011, but it turned out to suit me much better when i wanted to branch out. Now I like falling under the general umbrella of alternative edgy styles where i mix emo, goth, soft grunge, egirl, with some styles that suit my lifestyle more like adventure core (which I only recently found out is a thing! I only dress a bit like that because of my work and lifestyle), nerd/gamer and hippie styles. It's not like I can mix all of those in one look, but I'll usually be pulling from 2-3 of those. It's good because being eclectic makes everything much easier and I never have to worry about what aesthetic something I am buying will fit into. Oh, p.s. I'm still super interested in other people's methods of mixing aesthetics, especially if its a very specific blend, so thanks for this video, and I'll definitely tune in to any more you come up with! :)
I love mixing aesthetics! It helps transition one’s style into another they’ve wanted to try. My style has always leaned darker (when I was younger, you could say I was “emo”) and I’ve liked darker clothes since, but now colors also draw my attention. Combining a bit of grunge (special place in my heart) with arthoe (fav colorful style) I’ve really liked my looks recently! Idk if adding kawaii accessories (Kirby, anime, etc) adds a bit of anime core/kawaiicore to my style as well 😅 Has there been a style you didn’t think you’d like that’s caught your eye? Personally I didn’t think I’d like brighter colors in my wardrobe
I also have never really liked bright colors but I've been wanting to play around with it lately! It's still kind of a struggle because I'm always drawn to the black & neutral colors in my closet 😅 but it's fun to experiment :)
I didn’t think I’d be a fan of the bohemian look, but here I am surprise surprise trying to see how I can mix it w my current aesthetic (arthoe) I’ve always been a color lover.
Yes!! Finally. My style consists of a mix of kidcore and cottagecore that I like to call cottagekid. I didn’t know how I’d be able to mix the two together considering their many differences but I managed! Thanks. Wanted to know that mixing aesthetics was a thing
I'm over here attempting to combine Vampiregoth and Dark Academia; the struggle is worth it though I'm going to look like a boarding school vampire. lol
there're so many aesthetics i adore... (fairy) grunge, dark academia, coquette, 90s, old money. but also a bit summer night-pretty dress-lana del rey-vibe (the best i can describe it)
There are so many aesthetics that I like so this video is definitely going to be helpful :) My aesthetics include: hippie, vintage, animecore, grunge, fairycore, dark academia, gremlincore, mediaeval fantasy, spacecore, witchcore, rangercore, adventurecore and alot of the more nature and watery aesthetics (because I'm so indiscive lol)
yes! this is very helpful! The best way is to try it yourself! for example: you rlly like soft girl aesthetics but you own/like darker colours than you could make an soft girl outfit but just wear everything in a darker colour. hope this helps ❤️☺️
@@hannahmontana4401 In some cases yes, but I don’t drink coffee. It’s more like finishing homework at 12am, messy notes, messy annotations in shakespeare works, etc. I’m not a big expert on it so I’d look into it if you wanna know more
Lately i’ve been drawn to purple, blue, lavender, brown/beige and green colorvise. I love the coquette, grunge/rock vibes, dark academia also. But other times I’m aming for a mermaid look. I’m inlove with mixing cute with more sexy/edgy style
I really really love dark academia but there's a lot of brown and brown looks soooo unflattering on me lmao (and I live in Brazil so the weather is super hot all the time) Wearing all black during summer is not pleasant either so I'm planning to give a more tropical/vibrant/laid-back spin to dark academia haha mainly adding more vibrant shades of green and red to it + short sleeve button ups. I love the typical dark academia plaid too but I think adding some tropical patterns like leaves and flowers to the aesthetic would be soo fun! Lowkey trying to make a way to make it look like dark academia and whimsigoth had a baby lmao
mine is i'd say a mix of coquette/romantic (except i don't like pink as much so i'd say darker, red coquette?) and like italian summer with cottagecore elements!!
It's thanks to this video that made me realize that I've been mixing aesthetics and that makes me feel less confused about my style! I mix them as the seasons change, thank you so much for this!
Will definately be taking some of your aesthetic merging tips! I feel like my wardrobe is all over the place style wise 😱 I feel myself drawn to fairy grunge, goblincore, e-girl, kidcore and pastel kawaii type vibes 💖
TYYY this helped so much! I have so many different aesthetics, and I really needed to know how to mix them together. But once again, TY SO MUCH MARIEL!
Been struggling to mix aesthetics because I've been exploring myself. At the very start I wanted to be cottagecore, but gradually I think it got broken into a few pieces, because I didn't fully align with it, so it split into 60s/70s vintage/hippie aesthetic, clowncore and angelcore/coquette. Though I think the dominant aesthetic is the vintage one, as I align with it in a lot of ways and I'm trying to find ways how to incorporate clowncore and angelcore into the mix. Seems like a mix that's all over the place and that's why it's quite challenging, because I'll feel like one of the aesthetics is pulling me more at a certain time, but I always kinda come back to vintage so I'm gonna trust my gut and base my style around that!
For me I love Fairy Grunge and Techwear and my way is like pairing a fitted pants with baggy shirt and a corset looking belt! I'm currently experimenting for my HS. So I'm still grabbing stuff from each side and trying combos that might work together. I'd love some feedback from others. I also grab colors into tech from fg to give the futuristic ninja look with muted colors.
I just started the video but I wanna be a mix of decora inspired (kinda a less exesoried desaturated decora?) And mitskis laurel hell album (its weird ik lol) cutesy fashion and grunge!
Very late to the party but my aesthetics of choice would be to mix 90’s Street/Techwear and Afrocentric Boho with a little bit of Androgyny (heels). Kinda thinking if a hippie ninja came from the future.
i needed this! because i cannot really wear most da outfits because i live in a hotter country (ur vid on that was helpful tho). i mostly go for casual but elegant instead of a particular aesthetic
i literally love rich aesthetics but the ones i love are polar opposites, cuz i like old money and preppy (new preppy not brittish preppy, kind of like new money) and one is darker and simpler, while being more expensive, and the other is bright fun and colorful idk what to do but ur vid helped!
I’ve been feeling really drawn to dark academia light academia and fairy grunge and I feel like there all pretty easy to blend because there so similar 🤗
My aesthetic is very colorful or pops of color in black outfits and I really like weirdcore and 90s witch aesthetic. You’ve been my biggest inspiration and have helped on my fashion journey! 💜
I think the main two i wanna mix are dark academia and 90s grunge It helps theyre both more "masculine" aesthetics and darker color But they have quite different silhouettes ti them
Oooh i think you could probably go for a more “chaotic academia” look with dark academia basics but messier silhouettes (like a button up shirt but left half buttoned or half tucked for example) and take advantage of plaid being a common pattern in both aesthetics! Maybe wear plaid trousers/bottoms with a turtleneck but to make it more casual/grungey throw on a denim jacket
That pic is originally from @thenavarose on Instagram and she tagged dollskill for the utility vest but if it doesn’t come up maybe try searching harness bag or chest bag? It’s a bit hard to find a pink one tho 😥
