Thank you for this example Louise. I am reading Blue and Yellow Don’t Make Green , second edition, Michael Wilcox and beginning to understand why mixing colors is complicated. Your video really helps. I requested the book from our library for those who want to know more.
Honestly, I don't think it is complicated. And I don't think you need to read to learn --- just sit and do this over and over and you'll know all you need to know x
Color mixing videos brighten my day! A very fun way to start a studio day & a fabulous practice if you only have 20-30 mins Enjoying the "twenty minute" masterclass
Fabulous and timely. Almost eerie that it came on a day when Im trying to get a certain orange. Sort of a rusty cinnabar. Without success, I’ll add. But this video takes me right back into the studio to continue the fun of trying more combos all in the spirit of the joy of color mixing.
Try mixing yellow and pink sometime for an orange you might not get any other way. Since I do have some tube paint 😱 I use Pebeo Fluorescent Pink and Liquitex Basics Cad Yellow Deep. (For a change try Golden Indian Yellow with a pink you mix yourself.) What do you think?
which of those oranges would be close to a burnt orange? I am going to be doing 4 separate paintings for my nieces and nephews with their individual favorite colors and one of my nieces likes burnt orange.
Is brown really just dark orange, and black is really just dark blue? 2:20 Might not be chalky if you use lead white or zinc. Not sure about Lithopone (PW5)
