how to mix vocals like imogen heap! 

Turning down S's with automation is SO much better than using a de-esser, in my opinion. You have more control and it's more accurate. Also, it's completely transparent. I don't care how good your de-esser is, it will always dull your vocal somewhat. The whole process really doesn't take that long. I find I can go through all the vocals in a song in about 20 minutes. And that's not just for turning down the S's. I also use clip gain to turn down any loud sections and turn up quiet sections so I have a nice normalized vocal level BEFORE any compression. It's worth the time.

Nice work! I think Imogen Heap also uses a vocoder hooked up to a keyboard in her production. Not 100% sure either but it sounds like she does.
