I’m a beginner for sure mixing my own vocals for some reason my vocals has been really louder than the actual beat but I’m about to try this technique hopefully I can get my vocals to sit in the beat tight thank you for all the gems you share big bro
your mic input is probably set too high. Also, the beat may have been bounced out too low. i like to make sure my vocals when recording are at about -5 to 0db. Your beat should sit around 0db to leave some headroom for the vocals. And when recording i leave both the beat and vocal tack at 0 then mix. I should mention that i also send my mic input into a bus track with a compressor on it and then bus that signal to an audio track to record.
Another great job, and what a fine vocalist. I often do use the Vocal Rider as a first step, but I only use it to write an initial automation track, because it only takes a few seconds. That gives me a rough automation, based only on the amplitude of the wave. So then all I have to do is use my ears, which I do trust, to fine tune the automation that Vocal Rider wrote. I also use the clip gain feature during the mixing process, which is essentially the same in Studio One, my DAW of choice.
Vocal rider is obsolete. Nectar 3 has that built into the input of the signal now. And you can get nectar 3 PLUS for $50 right now normally about $500....Vocal rider is $29 and cant compare to be Nectar....EVER!!!
@@EliteOnTheBeat nectar 3 the sauce fr. My normal vocal chain that seems to work great for my voice is Arturia 1073 preamp, going into Nectar 3 and then sometimes soothe 2 if I need extra control
Ima be real, my favorite plug in to sit vocals in the pocket is easily wavesfactory trackspacer with the side chain… nothing compares… especially for A 2 track beat… don’t have to eq much in the presence range for the beat
thanks wavy Wayne just tried the clip gain tip it works awesome always had to make a break between what I had to adjust but not anymore thanks to you buddy thank you
Can You Do a tutorial video explaining the Waves Vocal Rider? I feel it can help for tracking but if there’s any tips I’d love to see you spit game about that plug in. I use about 50% of the time. Or if you could do a break down on the Sibilance Plug in From Waves do i can get a better understanding I’d hella appreciate that as well. Thanks WavyWayne for another dope tutorial.
On the Wavy Seals…is there an evaluation to see where a person stands in their producing to date and is it exclusive to pro tools users only? I use live 11.
I am from Kenya, but I have been watching and getting inspired from your video tutorials. So much to learn from. How can I join the Navy Seals Elite? Help a brother :)
Turn down the attack an release on ur auto tune setting. If u can't then try the old tpain plug in where u can go from soft(which is little to no auto tune) or hard which is the opposite. A lot or all the way. Tighten it up how? In the mix? Try some reverb/delay
U always been dope asf doe I look at your videos every time I need to find some out but I still be tripping on the identify beat part but I think I got it 🤦🏾🤣😂😅
If you go to the clip right click the menu pops up....go to clip gain, hit show line.....you can then have it there if you need it.....Now all you have to do is lower what you want w/o the hot key......Just another option.
I’m new and don’t know if you’ve done this but you should do a tutorial of mixing and mastering a song in a series from start to finish. And if you have something like that put it in a playlist so everyone can access them in one go.
Hi men i been whaching your videos (from Chile) to improve my mix, i bought an scarlett 2i2 third gen and i record miself tried to mix and master online for free hahaha The thing is can you make at least close profesional work with this equipement and free plugins??? If you can do a video showing how to mix from start to end with free plugins i usully have an intro, lead voice, chorus, outro and some efects voice. And thanks i deffenilly learn a lot with you, blessings from Chile
Hey Wayne, I’m having a problem that I cannot solve no matter what I try. The instrumentals I’m loading into pro tools are crackling, clicking, and popping. I have no effects on it’s just a clean session with the beat only. The beat had no crackling, clicking, nor popping before uploading into pro tools. I’ve listened from email, phone and on laptop in the media window but only get this feedback from protools and I’ve tried bouncing the track and I still have this problem after bouncing. Is there anything I can do? Please help.
I don't think comparing clip gain to almost being like your mic gain is good to say . People are very stubborn and record their vocals super loud. This will confuse them and make them think it doesn't matter how loud they record because they csn just turn clip Gain. I fully understand what your saying but we aren't the same as other people out here
