You do have to spend some time setting the saw up... blade, fence, etc. But once done, the saw is great. Fairly compact which is Nice ru-vid.comUgkxXh-4_3-ZT1fFWP91ZV7iVqzElr0lEb-a I did get an Incra Miter Gauge which takes some setup as well. The stock miter gauge can be adjusted in the miter slot with a little painter's tape... this tightens up the side to side play a lot.

@@andrewford80 my replacement auger just arrived a few days ago…shipping has been very long term. In fact, at one point I got an email that it was out of stock with no known restock date and asked if I wanted to cancel the order. I replied that I would wait and yes, it finally arrived. Thus far, everything parts and parts number wise, appear to be exactly as the poster described so I’m confident. I’ll try and get that done within the week and post my experience and results but, again, I’m feeling very confident. I do expect making dado cuts will have to be done slowly because regardless of the auger length and it’s ability to hold a stack, the motor is still the same so, when I start making cuts, I’ll be moving slowly over the table so as to not over burden the motor. I’m looking forward to getting this done!!😁

OK after watching this 100 times, I ordered all the parts and just completed the install on my DWE7480 (USA model). Everything went exactly as you described, and I just cut my first 3/4" dado using the DeWalt 7670 8" dado stack. I went straight for the worst case load to see if the motor could handle it, and it passed with flying colors. A 3/8" deep dado (3/4" wide) came out perfectly flat, with super tiny witness lines that can only be faintly seen at the perfect angle. The motor definitely slowed slightly but the hardwood passed through easily (ran about 3 feet through). The only issue I've had is that when the saw is slowing to a stop, there's a weird noise I hear that wasn't there with the original kit. Doesn't sound like a bearing is failing, and there's no smoke or smell. Just this weird clunkety sound, and it's consistent - only on power down. Overall though, I'm stoked to have dado capability on this saw. Thanks for the great video! Oh one more thing - that 3/8" tubing trick you used - uh, I gave up. I bought 3/8" aluminum standoffs (Amazon), and simply added aluminum tape to close the gap around the perimeter. I put some blue tape on the inside of the aluminum tape so that dust inside the shroud wouldn't get all stuck to the exposed aluminum glue-side. Easy peasy and looks nice. Not as convenient to take apart, but I thought about it - in 5 years I have taken that shroud off exactly 1 time - and it was for this project! So I'm not worried about reusability in this case. Thanks again, fantastic upgrade!

@@onemanonevanhi there, so far the slight noise has not impacted operation in any way. One thing I did that was very slightly “off” relative to the video was my reinstallatiin of the second bearing - see 15:50 mark on the video. I tapped the bearing on, same as the video, but I tapped it maybe 1/64 to 1/32 further down than the ideal spot. To elaborate, the arbor has a tapered end that the bearing is pressed down on. The bearing should be pressed until the taper is just fully showing. In my case, the taper shows, plus a tiny bit more below the taper. I’ve no idea if this very minor difference mattered and/or caused the noise. Hope that helps!
@jameskirkpatrick361
@jameskirkpatrick361 6 месяцев назад
@@kmtischerhi there, yes, $47 on Amazon is what I paid (plus CA tax, so about $50 total). Couldn’t find it for less, and wanted an OEM part (actually I didn’t final any knockoffs in my searches anyway). Tried eBay and others, this was the best I could do. I compared the price of this upgrade to upgrading to a 7491 and quickly decided on the parts swap. The 7491 is a friggin beast, over 90 lbs and way bigger. Don’t need that size and didn’t want the hassle of lugging it around. Hope that helps!

I've compared the DWE7480 parts with the DWE7485. From what I've found in the DWE7485 parts diagram, there is only a full arbor assembly part available rather then the individual parts (arbor, key, o-rigns, gear, bearings, etc) on the DWE7480. It also appears from the diagrams that the bearing closest to the end of the arbor nut doesn't exist on the DWE7485. This makes me question if the assembly would accept an arbor from the other models. Has anyone else attempted this yet on the DWE7485?

The factory blade for this table saw is 10". Dado blade stacks are typically 8". A table saw is just a motor that you bolt a circular blade to. You can use whatever blade size you want as long as it's not bigger than the factory blade it comes with. 8" dado stacks are not made for 8" table saws. I don't think I've ever seen an 8 inch table saw but I'm sure they probably exist. For this table saw you just change out the 10" blade for the 8" stack. This is acceptable and the normal way of using a dado stack.
@jeffeverde1

The 7480 and 745 were 10" saws. DeWalt dropped these models 2 years ago and replaced them with the new 8-1/4" models (like the 7492). This mod is only applicable to the 7480 and 745
