I cannot thank you enough for sharing this information for free!!!!! I’ve wondered for the last couple months if you could use “rondo” to make a mold instead of having one machined from aluminum.

Kevin Thanks for making this video that I requested a long time ago. I learned and enjoyed your video. I have been wanting to mold and cast a fish. This video help me to understand the process better. I look forward to the complete videos in crappie from start to finish. These type videos should more future young taxidermist to your channel. Hi Kevin! Great video! I actually make the bedding fiber that Matuska's sells. It's called Premium Bedding Fiber. A lot of trial and error went into getting the right combination of ingredients, but the end result was worth it. Give it a try and let me know what you think.

Thanks for your great video. Could you spray the mold with pva release instead of using vaseline ? Also could you spray the fish with pva also. Thanks for your help

I do what has worked for me over the years. I'm sure there are a number of other releases that would work equally well however. Never found the need for a release on the Fish.

I would mold in plaster or silicone, then make mouth plug with liquid latex. I have other videos that briefly show process.

Kevin, When I started painting fiberglass replicas I learned the paint sequence from your vids. Very informative and well done. Can you include links for the bedding material? I never molded and casted but may try one day. Thanks again.

The bedding material I used is unfortunately not available any more, so don't have a link. If you do a search for Matuska Taxidermy Supply however and give them a call, they have a similar bedding material (I've been told).

Is it possible to use plaster of Paris, on is it a must to use body filler 😅

Yes, possible. But you will pick up much better detail with the thinned resin/body filler.

Amazing video Kevin thankyou. What would u use as a bedding material if you didnt have access to hi fibre or other brand bedding material. Iv tried sand and had terrible results, trying to figure out what i could use to get better result without having to pay massive postage from matuska for bedding material sent to Australia

I have used sand as well on larger fish, but it doesn't work as well. Have you tried kinetic sand (there are how-to videos on RU-vid)?
