Amazing Solar Power Program That Truly Helps People, t.ly/UruXO
In this video, we have chosen some out takes from the on going video series showcasing the complete re-build of a badly fire damaged Victorian Villa House. This short film features just the custom moulding of the traditional victorian window sills from scratch, filling them with cement and then finishing them off to a beautiful smooth appearance and old fashioned style.
Thank you for watching.

I used a somewhat similar method to repair a cracked concrete sill. I actually gently opened it a bit wider (the split was running the long way and but for the embedded rebar, I could have cracked it completely off -- about 2" of a strip!). I moistened the existing concrete inside the crack with a spray bottle of water, and fastened a 2x4 along its front edge by using concrete bolts to hold it past each end of the sill into the concrete block of the wall. That provides a means to force the cracked "outer" section of the sill TOWARDS the window, or, directly back in towards its other half. Now I just used some very moist concrete mix to fill in the crack, after it was filled, I then tightened the screws to draw up the 2x4 and compress the halves together tightly, which squeezed out some of the concrete I had filled in. Then I just troweled it off and dress the surface nicely, trying to feather the concrete out over the existing concrete to make the repair as seamless as possible. Whala, a day later (plastic over it to slow drying, and occasional moistening to help it cure strong), and I was able to prime and then paint the repaired sill and you can't tell anything had been amiss...

@@toastingbread Do you mean painting primer after the repair? I think it was the top of the line Behr from Home Depot. Sold the house and no one batted an eye at it! Good luck

did you screw the horizontal bottom plank on the rafter(that seem to be screwed on the wall)?

Would have been nice and useful if you had disclosed the mix you used..

A lot of questions asked with no replies. Black material appears to be tar paper which is a common old method barrier. I personally have hung the wood in my career with blue tapcon screws sometimes with a silicone bead for a simple seal and ive done this out of multiple materials. Concrete etc Im not sure what keyway he use and what i mean is how the material secures to the building. Im assuming theres enough of a ledge there but I personally feel some form of anchor is required

How long did you wait before removing the wood? What kind of mix?

How did you get the wood to stay in place before the cement application? Did you bind it with adhesive? I ask this because aside from nailing the bottom onto the wall, the others seemed to detach quite easily.

O okay I had to replay the video. You drilled some screws while constructing it.

How much weight can the inside (interior) window sill support? Flower pots ok obviously. Can a fat person stand on it?

Tim Postema I don't think Devon Builders read their subs comments. I asked them something 3 years ago and still waiting.

Great job! I have to cast a couple of sandstone effect ones, and I'm wondering what mix mortar/concrete mix you used. I guess I'll have to use white cement.

I saw a black underlay in the box. In that case, what does the new cement sill actually stick to? It seems it can easily dislodge. Thats the cheesy fat victorian sills seen in terraced houses with a million coats of oil based paint that had been applied by the owners over the years. Not something I'd go for personally.

What a great idea building the frame and it came out looking amazing! I have stone sills on my house with large chunks broken off (some tennis ball size) on some of them. Any suggestions on how to fix that? The holes in the top can be easily filled but the parts that are broken on the vertical surrounding bit are more tricky. Thanks

Drafty and cold. England has the worst housing and worst houses. Mouldy, rotten, wet.
