Great tutorial, however a note to viewers. Mod podge works great if the surface you're attaching it to is smooth. If it is rough at all just use spray adhesive.

Not sure, I thought it would be the opposite. I use mod podge for mounting art on canvas (works well) but I am not sure how well it would do for mounting posters on foam board.

I'm researching how to hang posters on the plywood ceiling of my room. The plywood is currently unsealed, with some knots, and you know how fun painting or doing anything on a ceiling is... ugh. Might just go with pushpins and call it a day. Hmm. The posters weren't cheap and if the glue is too wet or the surface too rough it might look terrible.

Thank you! Very useful! One thing, it's MOD podge not modge podge

Is it necessary to mod podge the top (the front of the poster)?

Thank you!! If my wall is yellow, can I spray paint the wood white instead of black? Will it still give it the same illusion that it's lifting off?

Nice work. I'm going to borrow the idea of a 45 degree angle on the mounting board's edge to create that 'floating' effect.

Have you tried this same project but used a steel brush to bring out the wood grain? And then do the same application process? I have a project that I've been hesitant to start in fear of ruining the posters. My ultimate goal is to have the wood grain slightly visible through the posterboard. Thanks for the suggestion of the foam roller and waiting until it's completely dry to do the final coat.

POVofJTRose there are some good how tos out there about this. Do some searching. I think next time I would make sure the poster was completely flat before glowing. And then using a spy adhesive first, getting all the air bubbles out.

Thanks for sharing your learnings, including the mistakes. I like the idea of a chamfer around the back edge, and painting the edge black. What is "Modge Podge?" Is it the Chinese knockoff of Mod Podge? :)

I have a really nice print and I don't want to smear that stuff all over the side I want to look at. Do you HAVE to coat the front of your print?

Tip: If you seal the board and let it dry you will have longer working time- you can seal it with modge podge or even elmers will work or probably any acrylic base paint.

I did one...horribly wrong in a big 5x3 feet poster. It bubbled catching air or too much glue wrinkling everywhere. .. the paper soaked glue so it broke easily to any touch. Advice: seal the wood or the glue will disapear fast 2) spread a very thin layer of glue 3) first of all : flatten the paper as he did at the begining. Good luck

David Barrel I think next time I will use a spray adhesive to attach the picture to the wood the seal with modpodge

Neat idea. Also, clever trick with the 45° chamfer.

Hi, thanks for making this informative video, I have a 24x36 poster and 1/4 inch plywood the same size to attach the poster too, but my poster has a photo finish which is thicker and glossing than regular poster paper and I'm debating how to attach it to the wood, I have modpodge glue but do you think it would work since I'm attaching an actual photo finish poster to the wood? If not do you have any suggestions on what would work on my case? Thanks

Hi, nice project and thank you for the how to vid. Do you know if puzzle glue will work as well? I have some and mod podge is a bit pricey

Hugely disappointed. Sticking the poster on the board is the most difficult part - and you showed NOTHING of it! I suppose it didn't make for good watching huh? Not good mad...

Tablesaw is not dangerous of used properly... But then looking at how badly you use a circular saw, I'd say stay away from any and all tools :-/
@DanLimbach

Every power tool with an exposed blade is dangerous, but you can reduce the risks by using it properly, keeping it well maintained, and implementing proper safety practices. The best woodworkers have had accidents, even when trying to be as safe as possible. Anyone can miss something. You can't eliminate all the risks all the time.
