I viewed youtube and found it difficult to find a good short video on the topic, so I made my own. Full of explosion. Enjoy. I found it to be rather easy. I used the power of bombos to seal the bead.
I lit the first tire... It went without kicking. The rest, required kicking. And no, I'm not backing away as if I'm scared... the camera angle makes it seem like I'm standing really far away, I was only about 5' away.

This is fantastic. I can't wait to try this! I'm so sick of tire stores giving me the run around!

You made that look easy.

@mad4mtl The bead is the lip of the tire that comes in contact with the rim. Cars no longer use tubes, so it relies on air pressure holding that bead in place. When there's no pressure at all in the tire, and hasn't been inflated before, the tire resumes it's normal shape... not contacting the rim. When you try to fill it, air escapes through the crack between the rim and tire. I can't say one way or the other if I recommend it. It's up to you to try. No risk, no gain.

@mad4mtl You can try to fill the tire with air, it doesn't always work. Most people don't have compressors or a machine that inflates the tire fast enough to seal the bead. The air will escape out through the crack between the bead and rim rather than inflating the tire. The explosion caused by starter fluid expands the gases inside the tire so rapidly, the bead seals itself so you can fill it with a normal compressor. You should be able to use old valve stems. I did.

@ShawnMc749 The soap lubes the bead so that it'll slide onto the rim easy. I tried without it, nearly impossible. With it, very easy.

The tire lever won't touch the outside of the rim, only the inside... You wedge it between tire and the inside of the rim. I'm a bicycle mechanic, and I've had bike tires go on 50x more difficult than these did. The soap made it really easy.

Tire explosions don't happen many times, but every time I am working on a tire from now on I 'll be extremely careful (explosions can happen because of all kinds of reasons). So I 'll let the air out from a distance with a long tool or something and I would inflate the car tire mounted on the car and stay away from the tire as much as possible.

Pretty cool stuff. What exactly is the soap for? Lubricant? Safe to use?

I can't imagine me doing this without screwing up my aluminium rims. Good to know though.

A more simple way, use a heat gun to make the tire pliable around the rim, then air it up.

i once tried mounting the front 90/90-17 tyre on a 2" wide rim on my motorcycle, failed and gave up because i destroyed the bead mounting the tyre. its a tubed tyre and i was trying to make it a tubeless. could you give some ideas in making a better seal for leakages through the sides?

What about the gas still left inside the tire? I suggest inflating the tire a little bit, letting the air out again so the gas restants are out too. Even better: use the bicycle tire tube to seat the bead or drive to the tire shop. Tire explosions can kill people (not tested on animals).

I believe I used a lever to take on/off dirt bike tires.

I have never seen or done a tire that went on that easily with one little pry bar. Folks, it ain’t this easy.

Who's flagging stuff as spam for normal appropriate comments? Unless its super nasty, or trying to sell boner pills, leave it alone! I'll delete them if I deem them inappropriate.
