Great video! Am considering buying a PRR one and removing the PRR and relettering for the ARR, who had a car very similar to this one. But, I didn't notice any mention of how to achieve/weather the wood deck part?
Hi Stephen thanks I learned a lot do you have other videos?? and you said the panel liner was rust but the bottle said brown did you add or remove it to make rust??? again thanks
Nice! Do you weather or paint wash the wheel sets face and axles? I have found various results on my freight cars doing this. Gets rid of the shinny chrome look. I have not tried TrueColor on the axles or wheel face. Usually I have used Scalecoat 1 (which is now gone) ☹
You mentioned the Testors dullcote was 50/50 mix. What did you mix the dullcote with? I have an airbrush and Testors dullcote but haven’t been brave enough to use it. Thanks! Great video!
Hey George - I use 24 to 28g wire that I got it from the big river store. I think it was wire for tying a paper tag to an item. Watch out for 'floral wire' - it has a green coating making it useless for this application. I'd also not suggest using 'piano wire' - it's very stiff and it will ruin cheap wire cutters...know anyone who wants to buy some boogered-up wire cutters?!!!!? And if you use "Chart Pak" tape to simulate any banding, try to find 1/16th or even 1/32nd width. Yes, it's difficult to work with but the results are great. Also note chart tape comes in either glossy or flat - just know which one you want. I use both, depending on how weathered my project is. Hope this helps. Ghost of the SP
