The best way to mount this is like a kitchen cabinet. Attach a ledger board to the wall in the studs, that aligns where you want it. Set it on the board while someone steadies it and screw through the base and into the ledger.

Does it come with those little plastic covers? I know my file cabinet didn’t but you don’t see the wall mounts in that.

Brackets are included with the furniture. If you lost it, you can ask in the Ikea store. They often give missing parts for free.

Why would you attach a shelf that could hold that much weight to drywall? Someone is going to get hurt and at that hight it would most likely be a kid trying to climb.

Climbing on furniture is not a good idea. Small children should not be left unattended.

@@k-nemo is 1.5 inches enough and use wall anchors to secure it? I plan to use a drill and drill a hole first for the anchor then screw in the 1.5 inch screw

it comes with the metal parts but not the screws or the plastic parts

Some Ikea furniture comes with screws for wall mounting, but not all. This is not one of them.

Nothing should be affixed to plasterboard except pictures. This bookcase will potentially injure someone when it inevitably falls.

We have a 20kg mirror mounted with the the same plasterboard screws and it's been secure for 4 years 🤷🏽‍♀️

Hes using mounts that can take that payload. So itll be fine

Plasterboard screws like these can withstand alot of weight as long as the load is in the vertical direction. If you use a lot of force and yoink it towards you more horizontally from the wall it will withstand much less. But that means adding weight to shelves is fine as long as you use the correct amount of screws for the payload because most of the pressure will be downward vertically.
