Good video Paul and agree with you on the equity analyst type roles. I have a similar background to you and have applied for several of these roles but would say it’s a bit more of a closed shop than many expect. As you imply there are literally hundreds with equity research experience, often with CFAs which are more coveted than ACA, going for these roles too. I would say having CFA level 1 is probably a way to stand out, along with very good working knowledge of stocks and financial markets.

Great video. Took a 4 year break from studying and exams but was lucky enough that I only semi moved from finance in the role I was in. Back full time in finance and hoping to complete cima in 2 years. Could have been on 20k more with the experience I’ve gained if I was fully qualified!!
