Wow, you pointed out something that I didn't know! Like you said, it looks like Windows 11 v23H2 does NOT allow users to move the entire task bar so it displays vertically down the left or right side of the screen, or horizontally across the top of the screen. I researched the problem and found that there are many RU-vid videos that instruct people to download and run a program called "Explorer Patcher" from GitHub. I can't vouch for the program or it's effects on your computer but it seems to be effective for allowing you to move the taskbar to the left, right or top of the screen. Here's a link to one of the videos: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-57zOhaq72oE.html Cheers! -- Jason

Hi!! Thanks so much for the "Super Thanks"! I really appreciate it :) :) :) I think its only the third one I have ever received in over 1.16 Million views. Much appreciated! Have a great day -- Jason :)
Cool, but is there a way to move the weather widgets to the left side like shown on the video? My widget is on the right side and stands out in an awkward way. I did it on my laptop a while back but can't do it on my PC.
Hi! I searched Google/RU-vid and was not able to find a direct answer to your question. I noticed that when my "Taskbar alignment" is set to "Center", the weather widget is displayed on the bottom left side of the screen. When it is changed to "Left", the weather widget moves to the bottom right side of the screen. (My video didn't show it appearing on the right due to all of the changes I made while creating the video). I can't seem to find any adjustments that allow you to change it's default behavior. Keep searching and I'm sure something might turn up in the near future. I also recently learned that Windows 11 does not allow the entire taskbar to be moved so that it runs down (vertically) the left or right side of the screen. Hopefully Microsoft will give us back the ability to better control the desktop environment someday soon. Have a great day! -- Jason :)
@@JasonBagnell I tried searching and ask AI as well, but I couldn't find a way to fix it as well, it's fine, I'm continuing to find a way to fix it, I'll leave a comment here again if I find a way to move it.
You're welcome!! The process is simple but so many people don't take the time to figure it out. I hope my video made it quick and easy for you. Have a great day -- Jason :)
You're welcome! Strangely enough, I learned that Windows 11 will NOT let you move the entire taskbar to the left, right or top of the screen. At least having everything moved over to the left-hand side makes Windows 11 look and feel more like the "good old days". Cheers! -- Jason :)
Hello, yesterday my computer completely reset after an update. It just updated without my permission. After 2 hours it finally came on but all my files I downloaded and all the pictures I took within the past year were wiped without a trace. Can you help me with this?
Wow, that's strange. Windows Updates are not supposed to cause any data loss but sometimes weird things happen. I have a few ideas for getting your data back and there are a few things to know. If the user account on the previous Windows installation was configured to use a "Microsoft Account" and Microsoft OneDrive, you data (Desktop, Documents, Music, Pictures and Videos) might be sitting on Microsoft's Servers waiting for you to reconnect the account. That would be the best case scenario. To find out, go to onedrive.live.com/login/ and see if you can log in and view your files. If they're there, download and install the Microsoft OneDrive program onto your PC and the files will become available to you again. If your files were NOT backed up to OneDrive, you have to be very careful and *NOT add any new data* to the hard drive. When the files were "erased", the actual data related to the files may not have been overwritten. When a file is deleted (or when a drive has been "quick formatted"), only the file table entries for the files is cleared. A data recovery program can perform a Deep Scan of the hard drive and any of the old files that have not been overwritten yet can be identified and recovered. Don't add any new programs or data to the drive if you are trying to recover data from. Any new data/programs will continue to overwrite the space that your old files might be occupying. The recovery process can be a little involved. You can use a data recovery program like Recuva, Disk Drill to recover the files that were previously installed on the hard drive. You would want to create a bootable flash drive that contains the recovery program and then boot the PC from it to perform the recovery. Connect another USB hard drive or big flash drive to the computer and restore the old data files to the external drive. You could also remove the PC's hard drive and then connect it to another computer and then perform the recovery. That will prevent more information from being lost when the recovery program is installed. Here is a good video that talks about recovering lost data: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vqOJyB8ZVRk.html Local computer repair shops and Best Buy might offer a service to your lost data from the PC. Contact them to see if they offer the service. A data recovery center will also be able to perform the recovery but they will charge a higher price than the repair shops. I hope you find this information helpful! Best wishes with getting your files back. -- Jason
I have a problem that will make me lose my mind, I've been having the problem for about 4 months or so, I literally tried every possible solotion and sadly it's just won't be fixed, would you like to invest some time to check on the problem I can send you details and pictures of the problem via email if that suit you
Yes, my contact information is available on my website: www.jbyte.com/contact-us/ Send me what you have and I'll take a look over everything and make a recommendation. Thanks -- Jason
You're welcome! I prefer the start menu on the left side too. Microsoft makes everyone crazy when they change the way things work. Have a great day! -- Jason
Hi! I know what you mean. This video shows how to move the Windows 11 Start Button, Taskbar Icons and Start Menu to the left side but I was shocked when I found that there is no way to move the entire taskbar so it runs DOWN the left side of the screen. Some people like it that way but Microsoft disabled that feature on the newest version of Windows 11. There is a 3rd party program that can make it possible but still, Microsoft, really? Have a great day! -- Jason
You're welcome! I thought about producing a series of very short quick-fix videos and putting them in a playlist on my channel. People really do appreciate when a video doesn't waste their time. Something that can be fixed quickly only requires a short video. Insider secret: Many creators drag out their videos beyond 8 minutes because RU-vid will let them display more than 1 advertisement if that is the case. Have a great day! -- Jason :)
went out for an hour and came back to find my laptop had updated to windows 10 without my consent, i have had auto updates turned off for 3 years...i have noticed lag with certsain programs, pisses me off. has probally installed a bunch of spyware and crap i dont need which will slow its performance.
Were you on Windows 7 before it upgraded itself? That was my favorite operating system until Windows 10 came out. I just recently took the plunge and upgraded my PC from Windows 10 to Windows 11. I don’t like it as much as Windows 10. As far as Windows 8 and 8.1 goes - Not many people liked Windows 8/8.1 at all. You might want to watch another video I created. It shows how to “roll back” the automatically upgraded operating system at the click of a button. Maybe it will be helpful for your situation…. @@JasonBagnell Thanks for your additional input Jason. Seems like we are on the same page for this problem. There's sadly no vanilla way anymore that can move the taskbar.
True! For some reason, Windows 11 isn't capable of moving the *entire* taskbar to the left, right or top side of the screen. There are a few 3rd party utilities that can do it though. Have a great day -- Jason
Hi! Yes, Windows 11 does NOT let you move the entire taskbar to the left, top or right side of the screen. Here is a 19-page discussion of people blasting Microsoft about it: answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/how-do-u-move-the-taskbar-to-the-left-side-of-the/8618c19d-2b72-4dc8-b671-83899fb3c005?page=1 I tried to not confuse people by making the video title: How to Move Windows 11 Start Menu to Left Side (Taskbar icons too) My title doesn't mention anything about moving the entire taskbar. Sorry if it wasn't what you were looking for. Have a great day -- Jason
