It's a little unfortunate that the verbiage on Restream's page gives the idea that using their free tier will limit you to 720p and have a watermark on stream. For anyone who may have thought that, just know that using OBS with Restream like Epos is showing here doesn't actually have a 720p limit or watermark on the stream. I've seen a lot of confusion about this on Twitter so just fyi
This is perfect for me to be able to stream to Zero viewers on 3 platforms instead of just 1! Not sure why, but seems more exciting this way! Let's GOOOOO
@@EposVoxWhy are you telling us to violate Twitch's terms of service by streaming to a higher quality on RU-vid than to Twitch? Is it because RU-vid's 1080p looks worse than Twitch's 1080?
Telling people to upscale to 1440p is the best advice you could give. That said, I feel like most RU-vid streamers don't do this extra step and it's one of the biggest reasons RU-vid live isn't as popular as other platforms as of now
@@AJCoReTV Exactly. For small streamers specifically who are not given vp09 transcoding. Anyone can check if their livestream is given VP09 by right-clicking then going to stats for nerds. If it doesn't say VP09, then your video is being forced to a lower quality. In order to easily get around this problem is to upscale to 1440p
Finally a video that makes sense, every other damn tutorial is skipping the ingest part to attain the URL and its always someone that streams from Twitch first to YT, like god dammit, I just wanna stream YT first as my primary and then Twitch for the plug-in. I do not wanna use restream crap. Just wanna stick with OBS, THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
Great summary! A more techy option, if you have a server with some bandwidth/CPU to spare, there's an RTMP patch for NGINX you can also use for restreaming. Given that low end VPS's cost about $5/mo, it's only really cost effective if you have 3+ destinations, or if the server does something else for you (VPN, Bitwarden, etc). That said it's also worth looking at restreaming if your stream to glitches out. I found using my NGINX relay gave me a much more stable connection, likely because the relay was in the same city as the Twitch ingest server (i.e. lower latency retry/confirm packets). Fun stuff. 😋
Thank you! I have 62 followers and average 3-5 viewers on twitch but my other platforms have 370k combined hopefully this helps me build the twitch community more!
This is really useful. I'm a small streamer and I've wanted to push to both Twitch and RU-vid for a while now. Thank you for making this walk through on how to set things up with OBS and thank you for this tech info
dunno if this is a good fix, but if you set up a youtube livestream waiting room, in the live streaming dashboard you can set up the stream key to be 1440p. i think this upscales it on youtube's end, so your pc doesn't have to upscale it. could be wrong tho. but i've been using this little trick since october of 2021, and the encoding is way better
Im tired of streaming like a noob. And my computer is a potato. Thanks for the information. So mainly its just recommended to use obs and use a plug in for restream
Commenting before watching, but I was super excited to see this video pop up on my homepage! I am setting this up this afternoon, so the timing of this video couldn't have been better. Thank so much!
So much good info in this one. I had already set up the RTMP plug-in, but so glad I could double check my work if you would with this. Definitely looking forward to a streamer.bot video. As much great info as nutty has on it, I don't think he's addressed just simply setting up alerts for subs and follows and such. That would be great. Thanks again!
I just tried aircast for twitch and youtube and used the free trial for the 8 dollar subscription. And used the RTMPS settings and it was laggy af. Will try restream tomorrow but I am not hopeful. I only have 20 upload in my whole house and I live with my parents and even still youtube was laggy af. will keep yall updated
To gwt vb09 fpr youtube we don't need to upscale de output to 1440p, we just need to use HEVC and youtube will give us vp09, i test it, but only for youtube.
19:49 i'm wondering why you're upscaling the canvas entirely instead of just the output stream under settings/output/streaming/streaming settings/rescale output. is it because that setting for some reason doesn't apply a decent upscaling filter? i'm wondering because in case you're both streaming and recording at the same time, i assume that both would be upscaled, which i personally wouldn't like to see being done for the recording.
I'm still waiting for the updated OBS settings for AMD 7000 GPUS using the AMF Encoder and how it compares to software encoding. I remember EposVox saying something about it is some previous video.
Great video! This was very helpful! Would be nice if you could make a video of streaming with mobilephone and GoPro or some other device using RTMP. And easiest way to make your own desktop PC as RTMP server. Not a lot good videos about this.
Not saying anyone's been stopped for this, but the new TOS from Twitch says you can't push higher quality outside of twitch. So if you're streaming to Twitch and following their TOS, you're not going to be able to stream 1440p to YT while streaming 1080p to Twitch. If you don't mind breaking TOS then do whatever you like. Edit: Also showing a combined platform chat would break the ToS for Twitch if that's something you're worried about. Lastly - streaming with RU-vid are your primary setting and Twitch as a target from the plugin will not allow the Twitch VoD Track to work, meaning you need to limit your audio to copyright free music. If you use Twitch as the primary, you can not only use VoD Track, but you can set it up so RU-vid/Kick/Etc do not recieve the live music.
That rule is incredibly vague and their own clarification specifies “shrinking of or otherwise degrading the video quality on twitch” - since you’re still streaming the best quality twitch supports, it would be very difficult to argue that this caveat is being broken. Regardless, they can’t actually enforce that. Who’s going to monitor the off-site quality of all these streamers? Do your best to follow rules in a way that makes sense and looks out for you, but I cannot imagine anyone adhering to that rule in such a way.
The only thing not great for restream combined chat is that it doesn't tell you about your activity feed, hype trains, etc. Much easier for me to just have separate chats for Twitch and RU-vid.
@@Stouty I tested every installer in virustotal and all of them flagged for virus except for the zipped version that you manually place in the plugins folder. that's the only one that did not report as a virus for me
Hmm, so I don’t need to use HLS to use HEVC on RU-vid.. I just left mine there this whole time. Could have sworn it wouldn’t allow me to use HEVC without it before.. Great vid as always * I just watched the video posted at the end of this video, in which you covered that change as it's out of beta now! So there's that lol. But hey, I stayed through to the end and linked to another video. Mighty Algo has me hooked lmao
In my own experience restream + obs works beautifully. I tried the restream browser version but it's awfully laggy and watermarked. Of course no HEVC which is a bummer.
Awesome video, Question. I multistream to RU-vid/Kick/Twitch. RU-vid is the only platform that goes red in OBS. It drops frames like crazy all the time and I constantly have to end and restart the YT stream as a result. The bitrate is set to 15000kb, I have 65000kb available to me and YT is the only one that gives me trouble. I switch the primary and backup ingest servers but the issue persists. The other two streams are flawless and have no issues. RU-vid is the main platform via OBS settings while the other two are configured via multiple output. Is there a setting I need to change for YT streams? No matter what I do, YT always gives me trouble while the other platforms are trouble-free.
I tried the plug in and it's bugging every time. (one platform not showing the stream). Tired of fixing issues all the time, so I got restream. Peace of mind..
Is there a way to combine chats into Restream chat (including youtube chat), while using the OBS to RU-vid + Restream plugin? I'm Not sure what happens if I go live to YT through OBS and Restream at the same time, which is how I would try to combine the chats normally.
What bitrates do you recommend to stream HQ to RU-vid and 6000 bit rate to twitch. I only have 40 upload speed. Dual pc streaming both pc’s have 40 series nvidia gpus
Thanks, this looks intresting. Might try the OBS multicast blasting to twitch and YT. Well explained and I like it when its free. (I wonder if this would work on FreeBSD or TempleOS aswell XD. )
Not to spill the beans or anything but it isn't that hard to rent a vps for like $5 a month and then use Nginx and RTMP to restream through it. Just takes a little bit of effort and you don't need a crazy connection or video processing, but what do I know lol.
Can you please help me. When I choose OBS Vertical Camera in Tiktok live studio only my horizontal live stream shows up and not my vertical live stream
Hey Andie thank you this video really help me a lot setting up my multistream setup😁😁. I don't know if you had this issue or maybe someone but since I start multistream last week ( having my youtube as my main and twitch as my second one on rtmp plugin, in my VODS on twitch it shows I'm streaming at 1440p with is what I use on youtube. My canvas is 1080p and main output 1440p and on rtmp for twitch is set to 1080p. Is this may be a bug or if you know any idea let me know I really appreciate it 😁😁
I'm confused it seems to me the whole video assumes you're streaming in 1080p and so should upscale to 1440p for youtube but what if you're streaming in 1440p and therefore downscaling for twitch and maintaining for youtube? Just wondering if there's something I'm missing about what I should do. Great video and thank you for introducing me to rmtp
Thanks for the really good video. one question: if we have 10gbit upstream and a highend pc (13900k, rtx4090) do you think it will work without a relay service to stream on yt and twitch?
I could get Twitch working without adding the stream key at the end of the URL chain. If I had the stream key in there it wouldn't work. It would work with it being in the "stream key" section only.
@Eposvox Is there any way that this custom OBS plug-in can interoperate with SLOBS? I am an SLOBS power user, and one of the main drawbacks to your point is the inability to set custom encoding endpoints for YT & Twitch. by default, you need to more or less use Twitch's 1080/6000 bit-rate settings as a result. I would love a way to continue leveraging SLOBS while creating the ability to create dual-custom encoding setups
Been multi casting for a while, 4070ti is a streaming monster and allows you to max out obs settings in 4k with little performance loss in game. Recently I have wanted to stream HDR content to RU-vid only and each test fails due to network dropped frames. Obs when streaming in hdr frequently sits at 0Mbps while sdr sits at 52Mbps. I assume there is an issue with the latest obs version and hdr youtube streaming
i started using aircast about 3 months ago after watching this video. it worked okay for a couple weeks but about three weeks ago, i started dropping packets. anyone else having problems with aircast
Hello, and thank you so much for this guide video, all explained is perfect! But 1 question, What do I do if I'm from Romania (Europe) use that server in Atlanta? does it work I mean for Twitch the 2nd platform
So when I try to download the windows installer it gets flagged for a virus and I'm a little bit worried to download it. Can you like 1,000% confirm this isn't a virus?
I stream dual pc and I've recently changed the gpu on my streaming PC from 2080 to Intel a750 8gb. Would that gpu be good enough to multi stream with no issues? Or should I save to get the 16gb model or maybe upgrade to the next intel gpu if it's any good for streaming.
please help besides using ingest servers which server would you recommend for someone trying to stream from South Africa I'm currently using hype layer ingest servers ,when i use the twitch login on obs my bitrate is all over the place plus massive frame drops even though i stream at 7500Kbps while using a 50Mb line
It may be worth mentioning that the Twitch Simulcasting Guidelines (as directly shown in the video, first bullet point) do _not_ allow any other simulcast platform to receive a higher quality than Twitch. So all the fiddling to have better encoding and bitrates on RU-vid by making it the primary service in OBS is moot if Twitch is also on the list.
For some reason my RTMP doesn't connect to twitch. It does say it's broadcasting, but going to my twitch channel, it stays offline. Tried adding stream key to my url and without, tried removing and adding the slash after /app and only add the streamkey to the streamkey inputfield. It just doesn't work :(
Restream has a watermark now? Well if I ever start streaming again I guess that's something I'll not use (although I could just as well pay them to make it go away at this point). And well in my situation it probably makes more sense to try to set up my own relay (or at least look into possibility of doing so)
