Hi Pru, unfortunately, the colour is not colourfast, and because the eggs are cooked they will have to be eaten in a couple of days after dyeing them. Red cabbage produces beautiful colours but like almost everything in natural dyes, if a dyestuff gives you the colour fast it goes away equally fast 😅

Hi sophie 😊 yes, you can replace the vinegar with lemon, I add the vinegar to change the ph of the water.

@@CasaCaribe don’t be sorry that it didn’t work. The food coloring you added for the blueing transition was smart cause you fooled my mother in law. And to answer your question WHITE!!!!! What type of question is that?

@@danvigilant4885 It Is a shame that you think I apply food colourant to fool people. 😶 The reason why the water changes colour is because red cabbage contains a phytochemical called anthocyanins. This compound is reactive to the PH of the water, changing colour from red, to purple and blue. I hope your mother-in-law finds another recipe online that works for her 😉

@@CasaCaribe it’s not a shame, it didn’t work it’s pure fact. I don’t know what else you need from me. You didn’t show us a time lapse it was just a screen change from the color purple to blue. You might claim that if you just write the scientific explanation you will be good, but it just isn’t good enough. It’s a shame you think you got away with it.
