Wow! This video is amazing 😍 I so appreciate you saying that even if you take a break the ones truly meant to be there will remain, and when you come back, you can still start getting tons of views again. One of my favorite sayings is: “You can always make a come back” I say this to myself every day… Burnout is real and I have experienced it several times now after going viral in my first month starting out on Instagram. I started 6 months ago now. I grew to 25K in a matter of weeks. It was crazy & amazing! I reached over 6 million accounts. Now if I start feeling overwhelmed or burnt out and take a break, say for 1 week or 2 weeks, I see my follower count go down, my reach goes down to nearly nothing & my follower count goes down but only by maybe 500 to a few 1000… then when I'm active again I can get it back up in about a week or so. Our mental health should be our priority. I love this video thank you so much for creating it! 🙏🙏🙏🙌🥰
I cannot even tell you how much this video hit me in my bones. I am just beginning as a freelance SMM and most of my thought process in starting my business is how I can make my money. Because money means "success." While the money part is important, because that's how I will keep myself afloat, I tend to lose myself a little bit when that is all I focus on. I have learned what makes me thrive is when I am inspiring people and helping them grow. Those are the things that help me push through when I have major road blocks in my career. Helping foster a light in someone is what I love most about my business...and in life! - So when you showed that clip of you crying when your client said you changed their life, I started crying too! This is what we are built to do at the end of the day!
I've had creator burn-in and burn-out but now I'm putting in some measures to avoid this recurrent wave by completely not working on weekends on my laptop and phone....I'm slowly trying to also reduce social media watch time. Sadly it's an ongoing battle, I even decided to go on a holiday with no plan to record anything and I came back with a whole storage full of content. It's a struggle esp when you are growing a business solo and holidays are not like ''fully employed'' people eexpecting a constant salary....but we move and I try my best. Love your tips girl, let's keep walking.
your channel keeps us sane in this crazy competition, everyone like earn more, even my cousins earn much more than me and I feel unsuccessful , sometimes I think my views are less, so much goes in head
You're great where you are, if that sits well with you. Don't compare yourself that's a dangerous and downward spiral. Be your Biggest and only fan.🎉 If it's not self destructive then carry on with what you're doing.
Thank you for sharing this. Success is so subjective, I mean to me being able to travel once a month and not ask for permission is one of the main things for me. And if I were to follow the "online version" of success - 10K months or 100K years for example - I'd always be chasing someone else's dream...for what? I wouldn't even know what to do with all that money! It'd just be sitting in my account.
Love this message, Latasha! I haven't experienced burnout as a freelance creator yet, but I did experience it in my former corporate life, which ultimately compelled me to leave that nonsense behind. One thing you talked about was seasons, and I think that's something that's easily downplayed by pretty much anyone who had a more traditional career or career expectations before becoming freelancers or entrepreneurs. Big business divides itself into quarters and those quarters absolutely matter when it comes to what's good to launch, how much money is still in the budget for new projects, etc. It's so hard to look at your business as a whole and realize that one not-great month doesn't mean it won't be a knockout year, or that every year will be or has to be so much more profitable than the year before. I think it's that kind of mindset, not to mention trying to stay in the good graces of the "algorithm" or overdelivering so you can keep and attract great clients, that keeps us in the "race". Having experienced it once, I'm determined not to let it happen again, and looking at my business as a whole instead of its seasons is a huge win and great advice.
YES! As someone who also used to work in corporate, I totally agree with you. In the entrepreneurship world, it's so common to hear about "doubling your month" or hitting "X-figure months" but regardless of how much I'm making, there usually still is some fluctuation throughout the year.
Hey! Thanks a lot for sharing these precious insights. Failure is one of the best teacher if you know how to manage it. Schools only teach us that you need to succeed, which is true. But no emphasis is put on how to manage failure. Thankfully, entrepreneurs like you are keen to share their experiences for all those out there feeling imposter syndrome, constantly procrastinating, asking themselves what their purpose is and thus staying in their comfort zone. But once the leap is taken, failures are just steps to pass through to success.
Thank you for reframing that idea of "success." It's so important to realize that it's always so subjective! I've been freelancing since 2009 and in the earlier years I felt this need to grow a lot and become like a CEO of a small team just because it seemed like that was the expectation of people like me. Once I realized that I don't want to do that at all and in fact would SUCK at it, everything started to feel much more like me, and felt easier. PS "What if I know the formula and just don't wanna use it" is PERFECT.
YES! The great thing is, there are so many different ways to build a business or become a creator nowadays. There’s so much room to create our *own* perfect formula 😊🙌🏽
Dear Latasha, I've been following you for quite a while and I must say that this is one of your single most authentic videos. I love that you don't let yourself get caught up in the frenzy (aka, algorithm) and choose to keep doing you! I'm rooting a 💯% for you! And, I'm sure there are a ton of us who feel the same way about you! There's no one I know on the internet that explains social media management and the business of freelancing the way you do! Don't stop being you ❤
This was such a great video Latasha! I loved your perspective on creator burnout & defining your version of success. I definitely agree that Vanessa Lau did what was best for her in terms of taking a step back to reevaluate why she was building her biz empire and what it was actually costing her to make those $500k months. Thank you again for being a guest on my podcast & I hope you have a wonderful time on your camping trip!
11:11 I feel this to my core! I’m a paid creator on MSN and NewsBreak, and because I’m not big on any traditional platforms such as tiktok or Instagram , I’m often looked down on in the creator world. Even though I’m in the top percent of paid creators and I do this full time. Could I begin posting on more platforms so I look more legit to others? Yeah, but that’s not what success is to me. I want a full time career that doesn’t stress me out, and MSN & NewsBreak provides that. Plus, like you said with the hierarchy of needs, it even fulfills that higher purposes as I’m helping local small businesses with my content.
Yes!! Your job sounds amazing. If it makes you happy and pays your bills, that is SUCCESS that few people ever get to experience, regardless of follower count. 🙌🏽
Hey, Love your Videos. You are a great Inspiration. If have a request. Please if you can make a Video on "How as an agency you add all the assets of your CLIENT to your Business Manager" If will be a great help.

😢great video. I share your views but I have recently got sucked into the YT trap doing it for BOT (algorithm) and not for all the reasons you started for. So it's back to the drawing board and reminding myself ALL my reasons why and What sits well with me personally.
💊 Content creator burnout is common - Many creators are taking sabbaticals to prevent burnout - Creators should implement practices to support their mental health 💊 Know your values and goals to define success for yourself - Assess your values and prioritize them over financial goals - Break financial goals and strategies by quarter instead of month 💊 Measuring business success by quarter prevents burnout and unrealistic expectations. - May is traditionally a bad month for business due to personal events and good weather. - Growing lean and not striving for a large team or office space can help prevent burnout. 💊 Growing lean means having flexibility and avoiding burnout. - Pay yourself a fair salary to avoid pressure and high expectations. - Hire freelancers and outsource to avoid burnout and pressure to lay off employees. 💊 Stay close to your purpose and measure impact, not just financials. - Coaching helps stay connected to purpose and realize goals. - Having fun is important, but finding a job you love doesn't mean you won't have bad days. 💊 Content creation requires energy and a positive mindset - Negative thoughts about content can affect its quality - Consistency is key, but it's important to enjoy the creative process 💊 Take a break if you experience content creator burnout - Disconnect from screens and go on a trip - Remember that taking a break doesn't mean failure
So good, I've been wondering this same thing myself, sometimes I wonder how creativity can continue to flow when you are designing and scheduling the same stuff all the time. This video was great.
Yes 🙌 Great reference to Maslow's hierarchy of needs! This was very introspective, and a welcomed glimpse into your thoughts about purpose and meaning. So many are too focused on superficial goals determined by others, when in reality life is a personal journey in exploring truth and authenticity 🤘
I loved the vulnerability in this video. Excellent points made! Change the narrative around taking a break and define what success looks like for you to be able to take a break! ☺
Vanessa's case is more about the time she was investing in the whole business and the mean reason she start on youtube was to get free from the 9 to 5 jobs, and she was falling on it in his own business. Her burnout is more about the business behind the content creation and not as a creator.
I LOVE YOUR CONTENT LATASHA 💗 you have helped me alot in this marketing feild. Your tips are soo genuine they have worked really well for me so far. There is still so much to learn from you, so don't ever stop making such incredible videos. Much appreciation 🫶
