I one stick climb with my JX3 Hybrid. When I’m on top of my stick, I move my tether to the right side of the tree. Then I swing off the stick and rest my fork on the side of the tree. That allows you to reach down and grab the stick easily. Rinse and repeat.
Hey bud, thanks for your videos! So, i purchased the jx3 a couple months ago but have been waiting for my mad rock which just came in. I tried to 1 stick with it but it seems SO restricted and cumbersome. It is EXTREMELY comfortable up in the tree though! The stand off between your legs is priceless 👌. My question is...as a mobile gun hunter who sits for 3.5 to 4 hours usually, would it be a better fit to go with a traditional saddle like the tethrd lockdown for short sits. I am having 2nd thoughts because #1- its more complicated to climb with the jx3 #2- i didnt think having something on my back would make such a difference in mobility. I.e. i cant sling my gun across my back to walk And coupled with my stick and extra gear it makes for alot more weight. Plus the weight of the weapon. Also, with my camo bibs and jacket i am not as mobile(more clothing makes you less flexible)Do you think i might be happier with a traditional saddle? Im 6'2 240. Im a rope rescue tech and firefighter so i am extemely comfortable at height, but the reason i went w the jx3 is because of comfort, i cant imagine sitting in my rescue harness for 3.5-4 hours to hunt. Having never tried a traditional saddle i was worried about hip pinch and hot spots with my weight...
This is what I do know… the JX3 is an entire system in one. So your entire system will have to revolve around the JX3 meaning everything you described above. You will have to learn the system and and build around it according to your needs. As far as bibs and coat they can pack in between the seat and back rest. The left straps become load haulers to strap the seat to the back. Also, in regards to carrying your bow or gun. There are d loops on the shoulder straps and molle webbing that you can clip your weapon to in transport mode. So essentially it would be in front of you instead of behind you. Just to reiterate again, the JX three is a complete entire system. The more time you spend with it the more comfortable you get with it. Such as climbing trees using your lineman belt. One stick climbing etc. I am going to be doing a video on packing and accessorizing the JX3 here sometime when I get some free time. I know that doesn’t help you now. Any other questions just let me know.
When you fold the seat up into transport mode and you use your leg straps to hold the seat portion up… just put the one stick on the outside and cross your leg straps over it to hold it in place.
I've just recently bought a jx3 it's on it's way. My question is what is favorite climbing stick to use along with the jx3. I personally have a wingman, UP angled, monarch angled and a straight up shikar stick like your using all 12" sticks.
I hook my slack end of rope on my gear tie I use to lift the stick and use my foot to pop the rope out of cam cleat never have to reach down to get my stick
