@@funjunkiegarageit did! Clip on latch rods to the right had slipped. Lined them back up and slid it back. Latch worked and was good to go

Will this method of disassembly work to replace the lock too?
@funjunkiegarage
@funjunkiegarage 5 месяцев назад
Yes it will. After you get it open the latch unbolts from the bottom. The lock cylinder is held on with a slide clip. Hope this helps Thanks for watching and commenting.

@funjunkiegarage
@funjunkiegarage 25 дней назад
@levydan4370 with the plastic trim panel off and the metal panel removed you can get to the latch assembly and all the window workings as well as the window run channel. I'd also spray lube into the latch from outside (hatch open) Hope this helps, let me know.

I am having issues with the rod and the cable to work together do you have and advice on how to fix or replace those parts?
@funjunkiegarage
@funjunkiegarage 2 года назад
The latch can be removed from the hatch, if it's frozen it's easy to free up when it's out. The cables come out with the latch and connect to the key cylinder. The rod goes to the outside handle. That can all be lubed up or removed with the glass up Hope that makes sense and helps If all those pieces are able to be freed up and operating properly you should have a working hatch. Best of luck, let me know how it turns out.

I disconnected the battery and that was what caused mine to not open. Somehow the latch is tied to the power . Not cool...

Does anyone know how to do this to a 2011?
@kf3en
@kf3en 3 года назад
You have to lift the plastic panel to pull it out of the window. In that state, do not roll the window down, as it can get scratched.

@funjunkiegarage

I lubed it real well and worked the latches (while apart) to free things up.

I'd like to create something that makes opening the hatch from inside a breeze. Do you know of any product like that?
@funjunkiegarage

There was one I saw on Facebook a while back. There are some other videos that show some ways to do it. I was gonna put in an electric release, but don't see a need for it. Here is a link to one guys method. Thanks for watching. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oARdyLbogIQ.html

I got rear ended back in September last year and my rear has been dented and shut in. When I can I’m gonna attempt this and see what happens. Worse comes to worse I gotta take it to an auto body shop…

Hmm, interesting. I’d like to have something to pull that latch from the inside. Instead of climbing out of back door when camping

@funjunkiegarage
@funjunkiegarage Год назад
I did not. I worked on it for a bit with a plan to do it but I never followed through. There are a couple kits available that are simple and easy to install. My idea of an electric switch was much more complicated. And there are 4 different wire harnesses depending on what year 4runner you have. I just felt it wasn't a good idea to proceed. I don't currently have a rear hatch to work with. If you google it you can find the cable pull method, which is quite simple, but not my idea. Hope this helps.
