Howard thank you a friend of mine can't get in her 300 SC Benz for same reason the latch. Thank you for recording this how to video. She lives across the river in North Jersey, and said the few shops she went didn't know how to fix.

Howard, thank you so very much for taking the time to post this video. With the same cable problem and only the right latch locked, we'd tried everything but this to get it to open, including the tip to have one guy pull the release while the other guy tries to find that sweet spot on the right side of the hood. Your video was informative enough to help us find the latch from the underside and release the latch by hand. You saved us so much money. Again, thank you!

Howard thank you for making this video! however , there’s a much faster way to do this that takes only 30 seconds !!! All you need is a friend to pull the latch inside while you go to the front of the hood and firmly ( but not too hard ) hit across the front of the the hood where the latch is ..! It WILL open ! I shit you not ! we were all mind blown when this worked and my hood was EXACTLY like your propped up on one side and firmly closed on the other. none of these tools lifting up the car or removing anything is necessary... anyone reading this just DO IT you have NOTHING to lose if it does not work all you didi is waste 30 seconds but It will work and you will be shocked asf when it does.
I have an 81 240D, very different latch mechanism. But this video is still helpful for anyone with a newer vehicle after like 85 I think. :) Also, I like that flash light you got
So I have that issues it’s not stuck the actual latch well the bolts that are bolted onto the steal of the hood are becoming lose and detaching them selves from the actual hood it’s self
This video made it seem very easy however on my 07 c230 the latch was not in the same place. Therefore it took about 2 hours to remove what I could without removing the hood (since it was locked from the left side, left latch) after removing half the front of the car MY MECHANIC was able to get the hood open. Job took over 4 hours. Got the cable replaced and everything put together just as when it was taken off. Got it done south of the border Tijuana for 50 bucks with the new cable included. 😝😁
looks like video would have been really helpful if I was able to see what was going on but instead I just see the camera waving back and forth making me dizzy.
just push down that side while second party pulls the the release from inside the car,...much easier if you don't have a screw driver that large and really in need to get under your hood., just a tip from someone who 's had a few dozen of these cars..NOT a expert though just a tip
Here’s a doozy for you, I need to know how to open a stuck w140 hood latch? I pull the protruding tab, but the hook does not follow and will not budge... tried greasing it up and everything
Make sure hood is not already open. If that's not the case, you may have to jack up the vehicle, remove the underbody and get a long flathead screwdriver to flip both of the latches. You may also want to check if the latch cable snapped once you open it.
Howard Harris yeah the regular latch from the driver footwell still works, just the center piece hook doesn’t unlatch when I pull on it, it doesn’t pop out like normal. Like you said I might have to go underneath I think
@@torquemonster290 try to stick a small flathead to Jerry rig the center latch. I thought you were speaking about the right and left latch. You may not have to jack up the vehicle for that.
Hi can you advise on how to do the same thing but for the other side please? There doesn't seem to be a way up from underneath on that side. Thank you.
Omg I do this every time It’s so hard trying to open latch with pliers lol and I’m ima girl then I can never get the match on the actual hood this is fucked all up but I love my Benz c320
It may be way too late but just for future reference for you and others for the ClK all you have to do is remove your tire on the right side or not even remove the tire just turn the tire inward towards the right and pull down your fender well you will be able to see your hood cables from there or feel around to feel the hood cables in the hood cable box when you tug on that itll Pop I do it every time mines doesn't work
