Brilliant! I've been stuck on the side of the road for over an hour pulling and dragging ,cutting my fingers ,cursing trying to open these things. Thanks for this. You saved my knuckles, blood, sweat and tears!
Excellent video with suggestions that actually work. It was the last suggestion with hydraulic wrench (called multigrips here in Australia) that worked for me. I had spent a couple of hours trying to break that link. Your idea took about 30 seconds. Thank you kindly.
If you want to struggle and wreck a few things and curse everything and feel like an amateur, then try the hacks in this (an similar videos). I have done it myself. But then I purchased this cheap tool and I don't have to worry anymore. Cheers.
Had to remove an old and rusty chain and the last method worked well. Tried first with an old USB cable and some strips but those just broke before anything moved.
For peace of mind… as apposed to using a makeshift tool; i did just that; i ordered a chain tool set from Amazon; in which cost around £17 in the box 📦 consisted a new silver finish chain. A chain pin remover. One of those special link remover tools. And also, 6 spare chain links to go with it. Well worth it i suppose. You can take it with you, if you are going for a long bike ride. Just in case. The other new chain i bought from Amazon ( ZONKIE) in which… in my opinion, is just as good as Shimano or SRAM glides perfectly now; even though i left those extra links on the chain. It was just the derailleur gears that needed adjusting. But it doesn’t seem to make any difference anyway……when replacing a new chain to leave those extra links on. That's magic I've Been Rockin back and Forth on me Rowing Machine Racking my Brains as to how to remove a Super Tight lock on the Quick Link from Last Tour ... I should buy YU a Coffee 🤯👍🖖
I’ve just recently bought a new ZONKIE chain for my old bike; but very unfortunately i forgot to remove a few chain links that were not needed; because the new chain is slightly longer. So now, the gears are not working properly. I’ve tried to remove the link… using 1 or 2 of your methods…. But no luck. So now I’ve given up on that. looks like i might have buy another new chain. All i have… is a chain pin remover. Friday am at 07:53H. 14th May 2021. U.K. 🇬🇧 Southampton.
Some good ideas here, but too late for me - I got impatient and used a bolt cutters, and binned the new KMC chain it came with. Not impressed - I have used Missing Links for years on Shimano chains with no trouble - always been able to fit and remove them easily with my fingers after 1000s of trouble-free touring. The whole point of these links was not to need any tool. I will be going back to Shimano chains with no missing link.
@@brrrt6666 Holy! Got the song right after I saw this vid, but never listened to it. Finally listened in the train today. Now I see that u replied recently. This song creates miracles!! 😂
Can you, chain-manufacturers, please, return to the good old U-spring, to avoid this endless unnecessary complicated demount misery? The only things I need with that is a 'telephone'-wrench and a couple of seconds ...
